For those who don't know, telltale is a company that makes story driven games with little gameplay. You usually press on of four dialogue options, and sometimes walk around and click things to solve puzzles. Combat is pressing the right thing at the right time.

The stories are meant to make you emotionally attached, and then make you make tough choices. They don't use their own series, instead cooperating with other studios.
They have made things like the walking dead and game of thrones into their games.

Mass Effect is definitely big enough to get its own, and has the universe setting for a dramatic story. Plus, now that we know people are going to andromeda, there are either several years the games could fill, or they could be placed in the new galaxy, or just being something happening to other people
During the reaper war.
How would you all feel if this was announced? I would love it.

I think it's a bit early now. I think it would work as an interesting way to explain the journey to Andromeda. Limited resources, a crew stuck on a ship, long journey. Rife with tough decisions to make, survival to fight for and relationships to nurture/destroy. Perfect setting for a telltale game.

However, I don't see that being a good idea until after ME: A has been released. Otherwise, it would kinda spoil the surprise. Once it is though, and especially if they don't focus much on the journey etc, then I think that would make a great telltale game.

If the ARK theory is right, the development of the Ark would also be a great story. But again, not until after ME:A.

You mean Mass Effect isn't already a telltale with actual gameplay?

I wouldn't mind a telltale-like game set in a scifi universe akin to Mass Effect, but I'd rather the franchise stay consistent in its style of play.

Other iPhone game, infiltrator, it's gameplay was already a bit different. And each game varies a bit in gameplay. They re use many elements but it already isn't perfectly consistent.

There would still most likely be shooting guns. And maybe using some powers.

Unless you mean the commanding your squad part. They would definitely take that out.

I dunno, Tell-tale has often been criticised for having decisions ultimately mean nothing and lead to the same conclusion anyway, you save someone or you are told that they'll remember something, only to die ten minutes later and rendering all that pointless.

But then again, most games nowadays seem to be following that formula (even Bioware has been doing it lately) and the illusion of choice is rapidly vanishing. Seriously, does anyone remember when we used to have different endings for games?

:) I remember sticking up for this guy and girl (I won't spoil it) in the Walking Dead game and...

  • This Girl will remember this...

:( Then someone shot her at point blank range two seconds later... could not decide whether it was funny or sad...

As I always say when similar topics are brought up... rather than go to the effort of putting together another team and spending a fortune on risky side content just give Telltale Games the license to do affordable episodic content for every platform under the sun.

Better yet have Mac Walters consult with them to shape the project however BioWare may wish so we don't get another repeat of Deception & Paragon Lost and you can have your Vita Mass Effect experience or even on your phone, tablet, console or PC if you like.

Attempting to recreate the Telltale model would probably take longer and cost more than just simply entering into a partnership with them as HBO, Take Two Interactive et al do. It works because it's a sound pricing structure for bite-size on-the-go content that scales from low end devices to PCs and they have some of the best writers in the industry and they've been doing this for years.

They have a lot on their plate but that's only because they've got a little gold mine going on and everyone wants a piece. Make it happen EA.

I'm surprised that BioWare fans aren't clamoring for a Telltale series because gamers who care about storytelling don't really have a lot of options and it would be a marriage made in heaven.

I would love Telltale to try a ME (or DA) story at some point. Their games are wonderfully emotionally involved, and I always adore the characters. It would basically be like the Citadel dlc but without the shooting bits.

As for the claims about meaningless decisions, I think Tales from the Borderlands is their best so far for meaningful choices. It's let to branching story paths and very different content based on your choices, in addition to flavour dialogue. Given the same time and leeway for ME that they have with Borderlands, I think they could do a really good job of it.

I'm down for playing more Telltale games after The Wolf Among Us. Though I'm not overly attached to ME as a setting so, I don't feel any particular need for it either.

I don't think people realize it about mass effect, but your choices really really matter. Like, the entire lore, who stands beside you, the state the wntire flgalaxy is left in. Aside from the main 4, the things going on with krogans, Quarians and Geth, and many people are changed by you. You just have to think of what the Galaxy is like when you're gone, or when you stop controlling Shepard if he or she lives.

Anyway, telltale hasn't ever made me feel like the choices matter in the end as much as mass effect did. But I did feel like they change the journey to it a lot, which is okay since they are all told on smaller scales. However, borderlands I didn't get that feel yet.

I only played it once and I didn't look at any differences yet, but I didn't see any clear places where my choices matter. Even if I shoot, the person lives or dies no matter what I do. Can you pm me some specific points that make it diverge?

TellTale are already like Bioware games. Except without combat...and still better.

But whatever. I'd play it.

If the story starts with Shepard defeating indoctrination and waking up in London to finish the fight against the reapers. Thatd be cool.
