As the title suggest - what are the actual skills required to play this game well?

I'm breaking it down into 2 major categories, assuming you're going for maximum efficiency:

Macro skills:
- power builds
- loadouts (preparation according to the game, be it UU or preset)
- pathing on the map, positioning
- abusing enemy behaviour
- split-second/on-the-fly decisions
- spatial awareness
- target prioritization

Micro skills:
- reactions
- execution

In other words, mostly things that the are not measurable by the scoreboard, but will, at sufficiently high levels, correlate to high scores.

edit 1: "spatial awareness" added
edit 2: "target prioritization" added

Do your best, BSN.

So the fact that I don't know whether I have these "skillz" or not makes me a scrub?

Or Does it just mean I don't analyze such things?

I'm too old for this poop.

I can't remember how to build stuff and my reaction times were left in my motorbike crash helmet years ago .

But yes, I guess you need those skillz to be gud. But I am happy being an average player. My skillz lie elsewhere.

Fixed.

But I am happy being an average player.

If you're average, then the vast majority of players are well below average....

As the title suggest - what are the actual skills required to play this game well?

Honestly, I find this a weird question. There are a hundred different skills that can all enhance your performance in the game, but none of them are required, because you can always compensate the lack of one skill with other skills. A perferct player would be great at everything, but I've yet to see such a player.

Also, the division of the general skill of "being good at playing the game" into more specific skills always ends up being quite arbitrary, and you can keep dividing individual skills into more and more minute parts. For example, the skill of accuracy can be divided - and this is just one example - into such subskills such as shot timing, target acquisition, target tracking, target switching and target movement prediction. These subskills have varying importance depending on various factors, for example the skill of target tracking is not necessarily important at all when using Claymore, but it's extremely important when using Locust.

Anyway, for the sake of conversation, I'll list some skills that I'd consider fundamental skills:

- positioning

- timing

- spatial awareness

- instant decisions

- shooting accuracy

- knowing yourself (including your allies)

- knowing your enemy

- knowing your environment

- knowing fundamental game mechanics

- application of strategies

- application of tactics

- etc.

(Not surprisingly, this same list applies to every shooter out there.)

And then there are more specific skills such as:

- knowing specific game mechanics (i.e. Tactical Cloak mechanics, pizza running, oops pack invulnerability etc.)

- throwing grenades

- arcing projectile powers

- etc.

Techically shooting accuracy is a specific skill, but as ME3 is a shooter at heart, I consider it to be important enough to be listed among the fundamental skills. You may disagree.

-Target to point priority has to be on there as well.

Where does penis size fit in this equation as well?

...

Ability to tweak the coalesced file to give all the enemies 1HP and pay-out 20 bazillion credits for winning... that's efficiency!

(but also beyond pointless)

That would certainly delight and edify me, if only I could ever find you - or vice versa ;)

I realized that I had finally learned my way around when the maps when, one day, I found that I was backing up the ammo crate while still shooting.

Related important skill, learning about ways of getting unstuck from ladders :)
