Plausible deniability. Exactly.

"Plausible" is probably stretching it a little bit.

But it's probably not the most absurd comic book plot I've ever heard.

Looks dumb, like 90 percent of comic book movies, but I'm sure it will makes 100s of millions. People love these dumb movies.

Could be both. That's kind of what Suicide Squad stories do best: mix bloody chaos with borderline hilarity.

The comics bar the horrible train wreck the new 52's been? Yeah.

This movie, which has done nothing to sell me that they understand that sort of nuance and absurdity in this comic book homage of The Dirty Dozen? Nope.

Because thats neeeeeevvvveeeeeerrr gone wrong before. Especially for the United States. That's why Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan are working out so well for the US. What with all those regimes we backed in secret and all that plausible deniability we had for the stuff they did.

Yeah I'm acting this salty now. The stupid fake choir music of this trailer killed any good mood I had.

Jet fuel can't melt steel beams.

Trust me. If TFX fails people would assume it was some supervillain team up that went south.

You're not being salty. You're just being stupid.

I'm not even this butthurt about "The Redcapes are coming" and that's probably the worst line I've ever heard in anything.

And I've seen both Birdemics!

Well, I mean, it was a three-minute trailer. A lengthy teaser that conveyed the general concept, emphasized the main renegades, and featured Leto's Joker for the first time. They didn't even address most of the squad or cover the details of their mission, but that wasn't the purpose. Ayer was teasing, and the man knows full well about snarky team dynamics and wild cards.

You didn't spot the absurdity through there, though?

I've seen both Birdemics, Trolls 2, The Room, Manos, All 4 Transfomers on a Bet((20.00 was not worth it)), Cannibal Holocaust, Faster Pussycat Kill Kill, Trust me when I say I've seen bad films.

This movie just sets off all the warning signals to me of a movie trying far too hard to be edgy. If it was trying to be anymore 90s era edge, it'd be in black and white and bleed linkin park.

But like I said, I'm being saltier then a utah salt bed and the aral sea combined. This movie will probably find its audience with those who liked Man of Steel just fine. I wish them the best, and I hope this movie is to their liking. Cause gods know It isn't going to be towards mine.

Gods speed. Good Luck. May David Ayer manage to pull it off again.

It's just not executed well enough for me to see it as an ironic meta-joke about the absurdity of a GOG in an uber dark grimdark world of darkness.

(shrug)

I think it planted the right seeds. The theatrical trailer will probably get where you want it to.

We're in good shape if it's Fury and End of Watch Ayer. There's the very real possibility that it's Sabotage Ayer, though.

I did kind of get a "Guardians of the Galaxy gone rogue" sort of vibe from the trailer. Think I'll wait on peer commentary whether the movie actually holds up.

I always thought Leto's Joker was quite cool. But I've got to admit, his voice seems a little too similar to Ledger's Joker.

At least he's not Troy Baker though, right?

You know his laugh actually reminded me more of Penguin than Joker though.

Speaking of darker but (IMO) excellent DC takes, I recently saw JL: Gods and Monsters (which, being done by Bruce Timm, you know will be good), and the story does not dissapoint. Suicide Squad looks like it's going for the opposite.

So we apparently at least get a batman cameo watching this trailer (presumably some flashback to him catching Harley?).

I'm no more excited about seeing Batfleck in this movie than I am in DoJ...

Suicide Squad was definitely always a zany heist-esque story at least that's what I caught from the Arkham Assault iteration of said comic -- which so happens to be based on the New 52 thus it is presumably garbage as most of the New 52 -- Will Smith's acting can best be compared to a wooden plank with a face drawn on it in every conceivable way -- Jared Leto, however, is a different story. He might be the best part about this film already. I can definitely see him as the Joker, given the range of acting he's demonstrated in various films. I've always liked him as an actor over musician- Amazing in Dallas Buyers Club, Requiem, Mr Nobody etc.

The problem, however, is what he has to work with. The trailer pinpoints it as a bit too cartoonish, in regards to its approach from what I've gathered so far, and its ludicrous dialogue like "I guess we're a suicide squad" parrot exposition at its best ladies and gentlemen. I also don't know why Harley is always portrayed as some sort of trashy punkish girl; I cannot for the life of me see anyone but Arleen portray her..

My interest in superhero films are already low but I'd at least give something related to the Bat a look if nothing else but a service to the love that I had for the comics a while back.

Needs more long needless speeches about Symbols and legends tbh.
