The term Scrub is originated from that annoying voice over of that invisible guy that yells at your team during multiplayer games. When every body dies and whole team bleeds out he says mission scrubbed returning to base. So scrub is somebody who won't make it through the mission.

 

I wouldn't be so sure of that. In Mech Warrior 2 you have a tutorial with a computer trainer and he refers to you as a scrub, along with wetnose and freebirth (it's the lore).

Not nearly as annoying as Lord Shaxx on Destiny.

I've never wanted to kill an announcer as badly as in that game.
