Hello everyone!

This is, arguably, a rather esoteric question regarding the games mechanics. The gist is does anyone know if an enemy that has been staggered by your % to stagger on being hit armor ability and is then hit by the Mind Blast ability given via the masterwork crafting material is "Weakened' detonated?

From what I understand when enemies are 'staggered' the game registers them as stunned (even if there is no floating text to state them as such) and that (not 100% positive) cross combos from your character work. (I.E. if they get staggered from hitting your tank and you immolate them they will 'Weakened' detonate).

What I don't know is if the Mind Blast created via the masterwork crafting material registers as an eldritch detonator like the ability.

I have been wondering if it would be fun to create a high %stagger on being hit armor with this masterwork for random eldritch detonators via my parties tank.

Obviously enemies immune to physical effects are immune to stagger but ignoring that I believe this should work. Would love to know if anyone has tried this and knows if it's viable.

Thoughts?

Not sure, honestly. If it doesn't, go for a veilstrike masterwork instead for your stunning needs. Automatic knockdown and hits in a 5 meter radius so it hits a lot more than just the enemy you activated it on.

Did a little testing the other day on this.

The Mind Blast that is triggered via the masterwork cloth item does act as an eldritch detonator (1200% weapon damage I believe?) which is pretty sick as you can imagine. So this set up is looking pretty powerful. There are some concerns though.

1. Farming the Fade-Touched Infused Vyrantium Samite seems like a bit of a nightmare. It only drops of Venatori (16+) out of the Hissing Wastes which are hard to farm if you've cleared all the camps. So it's recommended to do save/reload farming when you haven't cleared much of the Hissing Wastes.

2. The Mind Blast threat reduction. If you're detonating as often as it's proccing then odds are the damage will out way the threat reduction but if it procs once or twice when enemies aren't primed they could very well start chasing after your squad mates which is counter productive.

Currently started a new play through with a W&S warrior, planning to go Templar and give this build a go. Fingers crossed it lives up to my expectations.

Thanks, testing is always appreciated. I suggest you post a note in the GUIDE thread:

Might also be useful to know that shield bash masterwork acts as a physical detonator.  Quite a bit of fun when you pair it with multiple hit abilities like energy barrage, leaping shot, etc.

Fun fact, chance to Mind Blast as a detonator on a sword & shield warrior ended up being instrumental in my (world?) first Gurd Harofsen Nightmare solo kill, back in april. The AOE combo damage helps a bit especially with high chance to stagger (I think I had around 70% on being hit and around 40% on hit for this kill), but the threat reduction was what ultimately allowed me to stand back while the enemies focused Gurd down.

In the end I don't think Chance to Mind Blast is really all that interesting for damage, at least on Nightmare, and especially in a party. The burst is interesting but you're not going to kill anything with it that you wouldn't without. With that said, once you've got your hidden blades and chance to walking fortress, you're left with only chance to horn of valor and chance to shield bash as damage dealing alternatives to mind blast. Chance to Horn of Valor is by far the best third pick in a party, but solo it's probably a toss-up between the three.

And off-topic, if you're interested in a death montage of the full Old Temple run for that kill, where I mostly didn't use chance to mind blast but still had heavy chance to stagger:
