I was originally interested in this game, but it seems with each announcement EA makes about the game I become less so.
It's like they looked at the old Battlefront games and went "What made them so great? Right, let's include none of that.".

Call me when they're thinking of prequel DLC.
It's like they looked at the old Battlefront games and went "What made them so great? Right, let's include none of that.".
I'm not sure why people hold up the old games as such marvels. They're pretty dated and the new game can still be played like it, from a "shooty" perspective.

People enjoyed a lot of the stuff from those games, and in a reboot of the series they're saying that a lot of it isn't going to be included.
It's a DICE game, so I'm sure the shooting aspect will be solid and the game has a whole can still be very good. It's just that a lot of stuff EA says about the game doesn't inspire a lot of confidence, as they keep talking about all the stuff that the game isn't going to include from the old games.

I'm still curious on why they've removed classes altogether. Even Battlefield, when it was massively streamlined, had well-defined classes. Rocket launchers being power-ups isn't a good sign.

I know. The removal of things like space battles, conquest mode and prequel content has me pretty bitter too. I thought you were talking about the shooty aspect judging by the video.

Are they still touting that they have three whole maps? I can't believe it, three whole maps! This is truly next-gen.

UT2004 had over thirty something maps.

That one doesn't bother me as much, actually.
but then it's 16 years later and I'm still playing mostly dust on Counter-Strike.

Ugh. No space battles or Clone Wars. AT-AT on-rails. Ep 7 map is pre-order initially. Even if I were to purchase an XB1, there's no way I'd get this POS.
Kinda venting here but: Honestly, the way Disney's going at it, they may as well declare the prequels non-canon (and I'm sure most of you would like that).

Well, the three number was a reference to all of the planets that the game has at launch. I'm assuming that each planet has 4 maps (let's be honest, they are going to look exactly alike when each planet has a single topographical feature).

What happened to creativity? Oh wait this is EA I'm talking about.

Regardless, I'll reserve judgement of this game until I play it. But if they rip out the clone wars I'm so going to lose it.
I love being an imperial and all, putting rebel scum six feet under. But for real, there are times when I want to scrap droids.

DICE sucks.
Sincerely, a diehard battlefield fan and former member of teamhot (look that one up, we gave Rival a run... Yes, that rival)
So suffice it to say, I have some knowledge about Battlefield games and DICE. And let me tell you:
PREPARE FOR DISAPPOINTMENT WITH BATTLEFRONT.

I don't mind it, and it makes sense considering the art style and reception were so different. It's a waste of disk space when you consider that so many of us utterly despise the prequels.

No prequel stuff is a good thing.
The diagnosis is cancer and the treatment is excision.

'Despise' is a strong word. I've seen far worse movies more deserving of that verb.

The prequel movies themselves were terrible (I thought the third was pretty sweet) but the Clone Wars is good material to work from for a war game. The two TV series are an indication.
Humans in rags vs humans in plastic is visually boring compared to color-coded humans in plastic vs diverse robot terminator army. I was so excited to see how a next-gen Droideka would look like.
It would also help to distance Battlefront from being a Battlefield reskin.

Considering that the first two games had both the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War, this feels like a step backwards.
