You are ok with slaving chimps but not aliens? They are 98,7% genetic equal to us, those aliens completelly different.

You can't really slave animals. Only sapient beings, like us and aliens can be slaved. Which is wrong.

Given that rats and mice are 97. some-odd percent our genetic equals, I'm inclined to give sapience the nod over genetic closeness in terms of which species I'd extend equal rights to.

Whats the difference? We treat them as things and not as live beings, if we kill them its not called assassination, we see them as inferiors, we just give them food in exchange for their work, we do not allow them to do what they want, we have total control over their lives, etc. Thats exactly like slavery.

And to me aliens are like them, not sheding a tear for them.

Rats are 75%.

I don't really know how you think aliens in ME are like animals when they pretty much talk to you, have similar thought-processes as you, have cultures, politics, romances and many other things limited to humans in earth. But seriously, the world in ME is not build in way where aliens are animals anymore than humans are.

Well, people thought other people were just animals despite being people. Some people still do.

My sources were apparently incorrect.

But I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that 75% is a hell of a lot closer than a turian or an asari is.

Point being, I don't actually care about genetic closeness. A non-hostile sapient alien has, as far as I'm concerned, the same rights as a non-hostile human.

Thats because I don't forget that we are animals too.
And I'm not saying the aliens in ME should be enslaved, they have the sabe tech than the humans, they are not inferior (maybe the Vorchas should).
I'm talking about the Andromeda aliens, if they are advanced enough they are competition and should be eliminated, if they aren't them we should use them as we see fit.

Yep that they used to justify their actions. Same reasoning that is used to justify slavering aliens here ^^;

We shouldn't eliminate people who were first in the galaxy just, because we need/want another galaxy to live in. I'm looking forward to coexistence myself like with alien races in Milky Way. If they aren't advanced, well if they are in state of animals on earth then as long as you respect their rights as well, you can't treat animals how you want in earth either- it's immoral and many cases illegal, if they are sapient aliens, but somewhere around stone age to age we now live in IRL that wouldn't justify it either, we should leave them be until their own cultures evolve enough since uplifting them might be bad for them like in Krogan's case.

I'll be nice to all aliens... in the hopes one of them actually has a time machine.

Thats exactly why we need to do that. If they are advanced they will not hand their planet, if they are not we just make them our subservant race.
The Krogans were a problem because they were uplifited to be equals, had they br upflited to be a subservant race, they would be no problem.
If I kill a spider/rat/centipede/fly, will I be arrested? Will others say I'm wrong? We are so hipocryte that we have laws against killing animals, but we don't apply them if we do that with certain animals.

When I conquered the Zins with my Boss, she used their time machine to go back and find her favorite author. Would you do something like that?

Are we nitpicking now?

Ok then, why everyone are the same height in ME series? Its discrimination. I need my shepard to be taller than most humans so that it can indicate he is Dutch.

I'm not serious with this, but this is a valid as some things discussed here.

I doubt BioWare will ever do that, so yes I cant in this sense.
But if you think its impossible them you are wrong, the Protheans did it and succeded.

Yes. Yes they are.

It's a term that's come up similar to Communism.

"Slavery is bad!"

"Communism is bad!"

Ok... but then why is it bad?

Because it represses the individual? What does that individual have to offer beyond their labor?

Intrinsic value? Please. That's bull. Some people are being all they can be flipping burgers. Their value in society and life should reflect that.

Let the strong rule the weak.

Let´s forget about the ethical stuff for a moment and answer your question on the same level.

Slavery is bad because you are purchasing an asset instead of labor. If you bought a slave, you have to take care of his basic needs and nurse him back to health when he is sick. If he dies, that ´s a piece of equipment you bought, that broke down beyond repair.  A worker you can just fire and forget. It´s only interesting for cheap and dangerous work but we have machines for that who do it faster than any roman mining slave.

Slavery is for stupid villains, smart ones go corpporate.

Thats was the old kind of human slavery, the new one is way more smarter.
You call them workers, make them work more then 10 hours a day, pay them almost nothing and if they complaining you just fire them and hire a new one.
Thats why 1600 workers die per day in China.

OP you have not been paying attention if you think the ME trilogy only had black and white humans. We had at least one human character for almost every single race in Mass Effect.

To name a few:

Black:
- Jacob
- David Anderson

Indian:

- Samesh Bhatia
- Samantha Traynor

Asian:
- Emily Wong
- Kai Leng

- Kasumi

Hispanic/Latino:
- Ashley Williams

- Steve Cortez

Eurasian:
- Donnel Udina

This is just out the top of my head so I'm sure I've forgotten a lot of characters not to mention that there are a lot of nameless background NPCs in Mass Effect of virtually every race and color possible.

If it's for a good cause, like having them write the Great American Novel.

No I think it's possible. It's possible to make as advanced races as you as slaves as well, humans have did  that in earth and Batarians a lot in ME. But I'm talking about morality of the act, not if it's impossible.
