Are humans even going to be common in Andromeda?

God I hope not, humans are so boring and overrated. We are newcomers so we shouldn't be everywhere. I want more aliens, more alienish places and tech.

To see loads of humans would be ridiculous.

Seriously, does everyone in the Mass Effect and Dragon Age universes have a crappy childhood or horrible parents?  :o

Compared to the characters in BioWare's titles I must be some mutant freak or something as I have a loving relationship with both of my parents and my upbringing was normal.

Troubled characters makes for interesting stories. Just imagine starting a conversation with a character:

Protag "So tell me about you"

Soldier "Well normal family, lived happily, When I turned 18 I enlisted and had a good life since now. Stationed here in the last couple of years and everything was fine"

Protag "That's it? No daddy issues? No sidequest hunting for your father/missing armor/childhood asylum/biotic death camp??? Nothing?? Well son I'm disappointed!"

Soldier "Sorry I had a normal life"

Character development done. No wonder Jenkins died in the first five minutes of the game. :P

Kudos for the Jenkins mention.

But really, a troubled past doesn't automatically equal an interesting story. All a troubled past does is make it easier.

So essentially, a dark, brooding, backstory = lazy when you get down to it.  ^_^

Seems so. ;)  If you take a look at the crew of ME 2 all squadmates are pretty nuts. I felt especially sorry for Daniels and Donnelly. The whole engineering deck was full of the crazies.

Port Storage: Grunt, I want to kill lots of people.

Starport storage: Zaeed Massani: Ruthless, trigger happy  bountyhunter

Below deck: The Cerberus hating psycho biotic.

No wonder they welcomed Tali with open arms. She is only a space nomad from a species "known" as thieves and she has a shotgun in case someone of the psychos goes rampant. ^_^ .

The crew deck is also a collection of the galaxy´s finest crazies. :D

People having daddy issues is a common theme in bioware games all the way back to Baldurs Gate, its a bit strange really.

Makes me wonder if 'Daddy Issues' is a prerequisite for employment as a writer there.

Bah!

Your precious humanity couldn't even save the life of one little God-Emperor from the powers of Chaos, let alone stem the tide of the Great Devourer.

Humanity is weak.

Try saying that again with a mouth full of bolter rounds heretic.

If humams are in Andromeda, then I want them to be rare to the point that a human is every 1 out of every 1,000,000 people, yet simultaneously known by everyone. Take Quarian's for example: outside of their fleet, we seen maybe a few each game, yet everyone knew of them.

You're right. We need more humans with pointy ears that come from a planet of hats. ;)

Ashley Williams had a good relationship with her family. Only setback was her dad's death.

Humans have a seat on the Council in ME3, so assuming that Andromeda takes place after the Council sends an ark out...it would make some sense for humans to be one of the most represented factions. (along with the Turians, Asari, and Salarians)

But given Bioware's track record they'll probably be over-represented. I wouldn't be surprised if at least 50% of all NPCs in the game are human.

Heretic? No, I'm not one of your so-called 'un-believers'.

I am a beyond such labels.

Me and my kind have achieved feats beyond even those of your greatest minds from the fabled 'Dark Age of Technology'. We have achieve a unity, a singular purpose that even your lauded cathedrals and dogmatic Inquisition devoted fanatically to your gilded corpse have been unable to accomplish.

Our's is an iron will that envelopes entire worlds, that silences even the mad cackles of the gods themselves.

Kill me and I will be reborn a thousandfold. Every strategy you employ, every drastic measure you use to ensure your survival is just another opportunity to adapt. To evolve. To grow.

We prod your defenses, finding your weaknesses, your vulnerabilities. Your strengths we take and make our own.

We are like the rising of the sun, unrelenting and unstoppable.

We are hungry. And we are coming.

True. But she still fit the general stereotype of 'family issues' with her grandfather.

Even being a whole generation removed, Ashely still followed the same development as the other characters did with their families.

Characters that had normal live can be very interesting, you just have to make their live suddenly really weird and wait to see what they will do :P.

The ark will almost certainly be a human-centric and human-led initiative, like the Normandy.

They can be like Fred in Big Hero 6, being a grungy goofball that is apparently loaded.

Unfortunately you are probably right, even though I'd prefer it was Council-led and a joint species venture.

That just seems contradictory to what we see in ME. While I dislike the fact all other species were basically paralysed and incapable of action apart from, really, the Salarians, the Council proper seems totally useless. Their reaction to the largest military incursion since the Rachni was to stupidly declare victory (even though if they're right for all they know the "geth" are building a fleet of Sovereign class dreadnoughts to overrun them).

Doesn't Anderson say that the Council Races have been involved in skirmishes against the Heretics, but "It's long since stopped being called a war, more like... clean up."?

Another more important question to ask is; How are we supposed to communicate with all these Andromedan aliens? Are we going to need another Cypher ?

How are we supposed to get all that nice new territory, resources and grave rob all that advanced tech ? Surely not by just offering shiny mirrors, beads, with other worthless junk and swindle them out of it with false promises in a language they won't understand.

Ah, now I am starting to understand the use of that music in the trailer. My guess it's going to be with guns. Or we may be lucky. They could all be really gullible and speak english, with a foreign accent for extra believability.

Of course there could always be a big reveal that the Andromedans are all...dun dun dun..Humans, with silly hair styles and different skin colours. Then shooting them for their stuff would become a big in game choice/ moral dilemma.

"We need it, you have it, your hairstyle and accent are funny and you won't give it to us"..renegade interrupt.."F...it. We take it. Kill them all ! ".
