Well, I haven't gotten any emails telling me I won so... I don't know.

 

Last I heard they had it down to fifty last friday I think.

Either they've chosen winners and haven't made the official announcement, or they haven't chosen winners.

 

I don't expect to win, but I do look forward to seeing who does.

Could be.  They did say it was DLC, but DLC isn't always paid DLC.

 

I'm amazed sometimes by the community, though.  Someone submitted an item totally in elven?  I couldn't even imagine doing that...

That's the decision of the developers, ultimately.  They may use it as a gimmick to sell more of a bigger DLC.  What if it showed up in The Descent?  Or what if we found it in whatever DLC comes after this one?

If they were really dedicated, they could have written it in Qunlat or ancient dwarven (not common speak, which is also apparently dwarven).

 

A challenge to be considered for the future, perhaps?

 

(Just kidding, obviously.  I'm very impressed someone did that, too. Bet it's one of the items that gets in.)

Judging how little variation in the rings and belts were in DAI, there are going to be awfully limited abilities allowed in these.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were mentioned, but it can't be the only surprise they have - it's just too trivial to be the only surprise or the "worldwide announcement of some DA content".

If BW Austin was doing most of the Descent work, no reason it couldn't be! I'm still hoping Story DLC #3 isn't coming out for another 2 months or so for selfish reasons, though (dissertation defense in September).

 

But yeah, agreed, I don't think Untold Relics will be what they're announcing at PAX. From their comments on twitter, Laidlaw et al. seem 100000% aware that fandom (reasonably or not) will riot if it's not a major reveal.

 

EDIT: FWIW, someone else asked @bioware about the contest results 9 hours ago and got the usual response they've been giving lately: "we will make an announcement once the winners have been selected. Thanks for waiting!"

One of mine suggested that, yes. Also one of my "stronger" entries, I feel, as far as the stats and passives I put together being unique and fun for gameplay, which was 50% of the judging criteria. I think the lore background I gave the item was sorta neat as well. Of all my entries, it's one of the ones I pegged the most hope on for potentially winning.

 

We shall see. Maybe. Someday. Before we all die of old age.
