If this is true, I am really happy games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age exist.

We obviously need more LEGO games.
Mass Effect is one of the smallest ones there (Beating Bioshock and Hitman), barely beaten by Ace Combat.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be here if I didn't like Mass Effect, but-
Ace Combat's music. ![]()
It's kinda odd how much cultural impact Mass Effect has, considering it's never really sold particularly hugely.
At first I couldn´t even find it on the chart...
Cool. What's your point?
Genuinely surprised that the TES bubble is so small, considering that Oblivion/Skyrim were such a massive injection of TES into the mainstream gaming culture.
That said, this graph has no source, so y'know.

That's because it hasn't had that impact. Step outside the Bioware bubble for a second. It's not that ubiquitous.
Lol, do you think ME didn't sell well? Just because it doesn't sell well as those industry juggernauts, doesn't mean it didn't sell well. Just appering in that chart is worth of praise.
It's modest, among "AAA" titles. 14 million across the whole series. Last I checked. One TES, Sims, Mario, Pokemon, GTA, CoD, can sell in the 20 million range.
Folks are currently voting on games to include in Xbox One's backwards compatibility, and guess what? Six different Call of Duty games appear in the top twenty.

(Mass Effect 2 and 3 are both on the list too, with ME3 higher than 2 and in the top ten).
This chart is incredibly misleading. The reason Mario's circle is so huge isn't because mario is a bestselling game, but because there have been literally 20+ mario games. All this chart really shows is which franchises are the oldest and have the largest number of games.
Just look at Warcraft, that contains probably the best selling game in the history of games (WoW) and it is a tiny bubble, why? Because there are 6 Warcraft games (1, 2, 2 xpac, 3, 3 xpac, WoW). So despite the fact that it is one of the best selling games the size of the franchise limits the size of the bubble.
As such this chart is really very useless.

Is this from that gamer charts site that only tracks physical sales? If so, then I think we can pretty safely assume that none of the numbers are correct.

You can still go to a business site like Bloomberg or the Fool and get a figure for the ME series. While the other big games sell so well that their own companies publicly speak it about it... they didn't need gamechartz to track it.

Mass Effect Only has 3 games Final Fantasy has at least 20
Lego has 16 on XBox 360 plus others on handhelds and The first Lego Star Wars

Yeah, but you can still single out one Lego game (Lego Star Wars, for example) and get 20 million sales. Which is more than the entire ME series.

Thanks for the link. Glad to see RDR scoring so high too. But Alan Wake over Portal 2?
I actually never finished RDR.. it'd be good to get around to it on the new console.

Yeah the source is probably vgchartz lol.

Mass Effect is rated M Lego is rated E, Lego Star Wars also was available on more Platforms than Mass Effect
This doesn't surprise me.
The list of the highest grossing films of all time also includes a lot of totally mediocre and forgettable films. The list of the best selling albums of all time has the same problem. Popularity and quality don't always intersect.

Still doesn't change the point. About this not necessarily measuring entire franchises. You could just take one lego game and show the immense popularity of it.
As for the platform argument, Uncharted is a platform exclusive and still does just as well as ME.
Yes, this chart appears extremely legitimate, with such famous game franchises as "Batmam" and "Gears of Wars."

That and I'm guessing they've just thrown the kart, sports, puzzlers, platformers and rpgs all together. Doesn't quite seem fair.
Also lol at that Wii 'franchise'.
