I don't see what's so great about the redesigned elves of DA2. They look horrible to me.
The Asari are great as they are. Whining and "waifu-wars" aside, if you look past the "fapbaiting", the explanations for the similarities to humans actually makes sense.
You *would* expect from the Prothean empire to design races according to their whims, or just play with genetics out of boredom.

We see sexuality used in a lot of games. Inquisition and the Witcher use it liberally to convey either relationships or just sex and gender roles. Sometimes it's good, sometimes its too much.

Sexuality is not the always bad Thing.
Designing a Race solely because they should "embody Sexuality" is always bad.
Which is exactly what happened with the Asari. They were designed to be the hot Alien Chicks. Their whole Lore reflects it. And that is bad.
Look to the Quarians, when you want to see it done right(-ish). They are absolutely attractive, yet still not designed to "be the hot Aliens".
I stand by my Point. Get rid of the Aliens that were just designed to be hot. Especially if they don't make Sense, like the Asari and their Bullshit Reproduction System (and yes, I am aware that there are species who do Parthogenesis. No, they still don't especially **** others Species.)

I started there to be honest. But I actually believe that DA2's elves were a step in the right direction to both make elves seem alien enough and to humanize them in Dragon Age's unique way to set them apart from Tolkien elves.
You know, unique identity and stuff.

Unless I actually believe this. Which I do. Asari are a blight upon the franchise. My idea uplifts them to a unique role other than to satisfy the base desires of a subsection of Bioware's intended audience.

You still didn't say why it is a bad design choice, you just said they need to be eliminated.
If the Asari are designed to be sexually appealing as a race through their lore and culture and what not, the problem is simple; do they always follow that stereotype? Have we seen asaris use their sexuality to their advantage, or Asari's who play against type in Mass Effect? That leads to different dynamics that play with that trope and theme of sex.
Aren't Asari already space elves? Human like appearance and features, long lifespans, magic(biotics) attuned, known for their wisdom and diplomacy, etc. I don't see how uglying them up and putting them in poverty will make them any more interesting.

The Consort and Aria both fall into the stereotype. The Consort for obvious reasons, Aria because she took down Patriarch by first seducing his lieutenants and chipping away at their loyalty. Morinth would probably be another example.

No. DA2 Elves were some of the worst fantasy designs ever.

Although it's a fantastic idea. Turn the tables and sell them all into indentured servitude for a little while to pay off the galaxy for the millions of lives and livelihoods lost due to the Prothean beacon shenanigins. Only fair. 
Hell, the salarians that arent Kirrahe and his buds can join them for being unhelpful douches or only sending like 1 crappy fleet if you manage to stomach a genocide for them.

Agreed, a lot of the more developed characters were handled well and even served to subvert the trope somewhat, but their presentation would be greatly helped by the PC not bumping into one of their thong clad NPC arses in seemingly every public meeting place in existence. Oh, and have Samara actually put her armor all the way on.

In their current iteration, Quarians would be solid characters for life involving intergalactic arks.
Quarians would obviously be the best at arks, just like everything else. We've been eating ship grown vegan nutrient paste, salvaging and recycling everything into cutting edge tech and sleeping on mats in cubicle rooms with our entire extended families including that creepy uncle guy for 294 years. Can't wait to hear the cries of those prissy, uptight asari when they have to do some manual labour, work out some rationing or can't sleep because of the crazy Matriarch's rambling and ranting about how terrible the Krogan Rebellions were or whatever.
