Asari have been redesigned in the same vein as Dragon Age's elves.

Nope, asari are hot fine just the way they are. Don't say otherwise, because they will seduce you and secretly be an Ardat-Yakshi because rag-doll you around with their biotics.

Not really, we've gotten their dark secrets out in the open, unless they have even more skeletons in their closet....

but there are better ways to make them more interesting than hitting them with the ugly stick like DA2 elves

Some of the DA2 elves looked great (Fenris, Orsino) but the rest of them suffered from obviously being made in a character-creator type thing (some of the Asari suffered from this too, there were some pig ugly ****ers in ME2)

None could match the beauty of this elven Adonis.

I'm all for a redesign. Especially if their purpose is supposed to be ridiculously attractive aliens because... they weren't (to me anyways). Lol

When you put it like that, I seem like a crook.

I am not some villainous schemer out to destroy the aesthetics of a race. All I want to do is suggest alienizing them, since they're aliens.

I simply like the direction that DA2 took with the series upon its initial release.

Personally, I had quite enough of intrusive bull-in-a-china-shop redesigns and retcons.

They make for poor story telling (lore retcons), and "help" to break immersion.

Stomping all over an established universe / lore because your "artistic vision" changed, is not going to buy much love from the existing audiance.

And considering that indeed the changes in DA2 to elves & darkspawn were not very well recieved (not just the design itself but also the cartoonish style),

I doubt that using that as an example is a good idea.

This. I don't care how asari look, so long as they look the same through out the franchise.

They designed asari to look a particular way - now stick to it please.

I shall see to it that my Vorcha Master friend burns all of those who apposes how Asari looks now

They shall not look like those abominations from DA2

DA2 Elves looks like they're indoctrinated and are slowly turning into a elf husk as we speak

Although I liked most of the Asari characters I hated how their race was specifically designed to appeal to a certain audience.

I don't agree with a redesign, mainly because it would hurt continuity. Imo they should either have a smaller role in Andromeda (no Asari main characters) or Bioware should make an Andromeda-native male only alien race. :D

As for Drell being the "female fapbait equivalent" LOL no.

They could just add some less voluptuous super model looking body shapes for the Asari.

The body shape is equal for all Asaries and female Humans.

More body types for all races would be appreciated.

And some that are more voluptuous. You know…for science.

I think that Liara's about as far as they could really go to that end without substantially changing the one thing besides their skin color that makes them distinctly non-human. So really, it just comes down to the face modeling.

Wait so you hated that the Asari were made to appeal to a "certain audience" but an all male race designed to appeal to women would make you happy? So the Asari annoyed you because they were designed to be appealing to people who aren't you.

Until ME3 every Alien that wasn't an Asari was from an all male race. We've seen ONE female Salarian, ONE female Krogan, two female Turians (DLC only,) ZERO female Batarians, Drell, Volus, Vorcha, etc. If anything there needs to be more female alien representation, not yet another alien species consisting only of guys.

Also, the Drell kind of are the equivalent of Asari in that just as Asari were designed to appeal to men, the Drell were designed to be aesthetically pleasing to women, even if they don't specifically do anything for you.

I dislike the Asari, because they were specifically created as fanservice only towards straight male fans. Not that I'm against fanservice but they could've easily made them a dual-gender race like all the others with attractive humanoid girls and attractive humanoid guys that appeal to everyone. But no, it had to be an entire race of hot chicks that are willing to bang each other and all other races. I only proposed making a fanservicey all-male race to rectify this inequality and only if they're planning to keep the Asari around, not because I'm desparate for hot male aliens in the game.

I'm all here for more female alien representation, in fact I would've much preferred it if some of the main female characters were of other races instead of another oversexualized Asari. The existence of an all male-race shouldn't affect female representation in the game, just like an all-female race isn't necessary to have female characters in the game. That was a fail on Bioware's part.

Are you kidding me with the last part? You can't even compare them. The Asari look just like human females with blue skin and tentacle things instead of hair to make them look vaguely "alien". The Drell are weird lizard-looking humanoids. What features exactly are supposed to make them look attractive? That slit on their chest that looks more like a surgical scar than pecs? Their "frog eyes that stare into your soul" according to the OP (wtf??)?

The drell do look much more alien than an asari or quarian, having fish faces instead of human faces, but they still possess masculine sex appeal on a greater scale than turians, salarians, and krogan. Be glad you got that once upon a time offer because I doubt drell will be on the menu in Andromeda whereas asari are bound to be an entrée. There may be quarian males, however:

On another topic regarding the asari:

Fearing the possibility of birthing Ardat-Yakshi, I wonder how the asari will convince other races to breed with them since those races need to concentrate on building their own populations. Are they going to try to homewreck some krogan, turian, salarian, quarian, and human families. I doubt an asari wants to face an angry krogan or turian woman.

We've seen ONE female Salarian

If you kill the Council in ME1, you will see a second female salarian. Still not much.

In fact the only real aliens in mass effect are elcor, hanar and rachni. All others are rubberhead-humanoids, even their cultures and political systems are based on those we already had on earth.
Aside from some ugly faces (wich are asari most of the time by the way) and those affected by reapers all of those rubberhead-humanoids are depicted as at least normal looking.

The funny thing about the asari was that while they had all the trappings of the twi'lek/green-women-of-Star-Trek otherworldly babe, so many of them were insufferable jerks, uppity beyotches and criminal scum, and more often than not we killed scores of them lol.

I can't agree with not having at least one asari companion in the game though. I'd much rather BioWare take the opportunity to provide a much different personality from Liara or Samara (the latter of which kinda irked me with that justicar crap), like the proper commando type who actually has a better sense of humor or something, than simply abandon it altogether. But maybe I'm just one of those suckers that the asari were designed to draw in in the first place.

As for Drell…I don't even want to think about it. I hate even typing this, but I keep getting this feeling that Thane would smell like an aquarium full of iguanas and would have that spiky scaly feeling if you rubbed your hand the wrong way.

I often referred to the hanar and elcor as the "joke" aliens, but in truth, I think they're some of the best-designed aliens in the game, because their weird manners of speech at least makes their cultures seem sufficiently otherworldly.
