Asari have been redesigned in the same vein as Dragon Age's elves.

Try harder.

Indeed, that "manga/anime" re-design of the elfs in DA still pisses me off (I've learned to "life with it", but I don't like it) and I don't want something similarly stupid (my opinion!) done with the Asari (or any other ME race)

We have had enough bad re-designs (remember Ashley? - She looked like the damned wife of a plastic surgeon in ME3 -.- totally not what a soldier (even a female one) should look like (hell, call me whatever you want but IMHO the rules on grooming should be equal for the sexes in the military - so no long hair for women (as long as men aren't allowed to have it, why should they? - culture? Sorry, but it's the military, it should not support cultural BS!))

greetings LAX

I'm actually fine with the blue "space babes." For "alien" like species, we have the Hanar and Elcor. I'm fine with a few Star Trek/Stargate styled human-like aliens that all speak perfect English. (Yes I know about the translator, :P)

DA2 elves? Those vile abominations deserve to be forgotten. Keep the aliens how they are.

So Asari can attract species around the world for mating purposes

and for ardat-yakshi to hunt them for sport :D

Yes the Asari should be changed like DA elves, whiny, going extinct, and hunted for sport by their social betters!

I agree with the last two, but... The first one already exists.

Totally fine with the design for all the aliens (except of course Tali's stupid picture, please retcon that). But I also want to point out that drell are so not masculine... they have very full lips, large eyes, and slender bodies. They're more like "pretty boy" types.

Turians are more popular than drell so I suppose the equivalent to asari for straight women/gay/bi men are the turians. I wonder why bioware was so against turian and human unions, but not asari and turian unions, especially since we know in ME2 that turians love getting bjs, and swapping those dextro and levo fluids around.

However, I fear for the straight women/gay/bi men, after one of the devs mentioned krogan testicles as part of the team discussions, I wonder if this means a krogan romance for you guys...probably Iron Bull style.

Krogan guys are the equivalent for asari, right?

My opinion on the subject is that all the species need to have various degrees of redesign. Not to make them look more or less human but just to show a greater variety within the spectrum that has been limited by technical issues regarding consoles and disk space. We're never going to see the same amount of variety with the aliens as we do with the humans(and we need more with the humans), but I'd like to be able to tell individuals apart by more than their armor, their face paint, the color of their head crest.

LOL Ugh, no please no >.< (Although I know at least one woman who adores the Iron Bull romance.) It really makes me shake my head that they apparently worked so hard to make Iron Bull available to all while the most popular love interests ended up being the most restricted.

Back to ME ... really, there is no male counterpart to asari. Yeah, drell would be the closest (if you're into "beautiful" men).

Luckily when it comes to bioware romances, the personality, writing, and voice acting can so easily trump design. I mean I've actually only been personally attracted (and not even overly so) to one of my bioware romances (Kaidan). The others - Zevran, Fenris, and Solas - meh. (But oh so well-voiced and just love their personal arcs).

Oh, regarding turians - no, I wouldn't compare them to asari. They are textbook alien-looking lol About the only thing you can be attracted to is voice and personality (hence the hordes of Garrus fans). Which is okay, not knocking it. But lady-lovers are lucky to get the asari in ME. There are no male counterparts.

I guess the asari didn't really have this problem like the other races, on account of them having human female faces to begin with. It would be interesting to see how they could design the turians, salarians and krogan to actually have different faces beyond various colors.

The asari definitely didn't have it as bad, but I'd still like to see a little more variation.

But really, body type is a big problem in this area, too, and even on a new gen of consoles I don't have a lot of hope with them doing much in this area aside from giving each of the squadmates a unique build.

Agreed. Except for Batarians. I like the Batarians. They just weren't developed enough.

Same with the Drell, actually. And the Elcor. And the Hanar. And everyone except for the Council races, the Quarians, the Geth, and the Krogan.

Sigh. Missed opportunities everywhere.

I guess that makes sense. Like all those opportunities, Asari are a missed opportunity at making an alien race that doesn't cater to a certain fanbase.

All of the other species?

That is a fair point.

But what I meant is that Asari are sex symbols as that is what people get jollies out of, so it doesn't seem like I'm beating around the bush.
