We may never get Tela Vasir.

Which is sad because everyone seems to want an actual commando.

Aria, Vasir and Shiala are frequently used as examples of the kind of squad mate we'd all rather have.

They never made a squaddy even close to being that cool. Let alone an Asari one.

Im sorry Liaran grow from 1 to 3 to be a super cool squad companion.

I really fail to see all the complains about the asari, is more like you guys arent getting your dream character. And i can promise that will never happen. Is lame to think that a dev team can aim to have a squad that make everyone happy.

By the way why would you want a commando when there is better companions to have when it come down to asaris.

The eyebrow is one change. But they seem to have also been desexualised assuming this Asari is typical of rest of them within the new engine. I'm not saying it's right or wrong but it is a significant redesign.

The Asari need...

1. Wider hips.
2. Bigger breasts.
3. Fuller lips.
4. Rounder butts
5. Tentacle hands made of lots of small thin tentacle that can form into various shapes.
6. Actual tentacle "hair". I mean squirming, slimy and making squishy sounds when the think.
7. They should have mock male genitalia (like the females of some species of Hyena)
8. They should have glossy eyes of one solid color.
9. Their skin should always look wet like they have a thin layer of slim coating them.
10. They should have shark fangs with at least 3 rows of teeth.

Asari fixed.

we havent see anything, just 1 shoot of a face. And that all. plz really they just give more personalty to a face, is plain stupid to think a race off all female character will be all the same. If they actually star give more personaly to faces and bodies of aliens, im glad, having every turian or Asari look the same (outside of markings) was just stupid for the game.

Plus isnt the first asari to act manly (if that can be say, again for 1 shoot on a trailer). Liara Dad was manly when you speak with her.

If you think Liara is cool you probably pre order books and talk about dead Egyptians over supper.

I want a commando because we're playing the role of commando's. So it makes sense to bring one of the galaxies greatest commando's with you.

Not to mention that commando's have avcompletely different attitude to civilian Asari. Not just the above stated examples from my previous post either.

Liara was cute and grew as a character to be great.

But Aria would wipe the floor with an archaeologist.

Without trying.

And???

so you want your team to be this freaking OP team that will kick everyone ass and it wont grow at all over the course of the game???? no, thanks.

I like how they speaking about having a team of your cast that arent expert but on the course of the game they will become OP.

Plus really depending on when the whole game star, give use a OP commando really dont make sense when they focus on more important stuff, like a Reaper walking through Tessia

Again is more of what i like point of view. Actually a super smart archelogy Asari will make the perfect companion to take to explore new planets on Andromeda =D

It's the first one we have ever seen that wouldn't make the viewer think of them as a cliched alien space babe. And it's only one we have seen from Andromeda. You can think what you like (and it would be great if there was more variety in Alien faces) but I am pretty sure it is a deliberate effort to desexualise them. I am not saying it is the wrong thing to do either by the way.

What in the name of dust covered Klixen **** does OP gameplay have to do with anything in my post?

If you're going to troll it should at least be coherent.

Spoiler

Or people see what they want to see. The Asari are fine, and potentially one of the most interesting races in the galaxy.

Agreed, I never had any real problem with them. I know some people had serious issues with Liara, which transitions to the species as a whole.

As for people talking about Aien Aliens, ummmm yeah, we really do know a lot about that stuff don't we? How alien can creatures be and still manage to produce spacefaring tech? There might be a few possible designs. But the humanoid shape is very good for finemotorskills.

If you only had one trunk, or a Beak or none of those then it would be damn hard to evolve tools or technology no matter how advanced your brain was or how smart you are. My parrot tries to use her one foot while standing on one foot and is using her beak to work on whatever she's working on, but it's clear that she's at a dissadvantage compared to having twofeet on the ground at the same time while having two hands available for carrying or manipulating your environment.

While birds can make basic tools like pointy sticks and hooks etz, they would have a hard time making a forge, melt metal or forgestuff or that kind of activity that leads to more advanced tech down the road.

That's one of the thigns about "Alien" looking aliens, too alien and they would be hardpressed to move beyond what we consider animal states. Maybe they could have great culture, music, theatre, whatever kinds of cultural expressions, but they would lack any tech that would make us respect them and consider them to be more than smart animals.

Maybe we will one day find that most technologicaly advanced life will look more like asari versions of ourselves adapted to their environment with different pigmentation etz.

Multiple trunks.... Maybe, but it will be harder to manipulate multiple trunks compared to multiple arms, just one trunk requier a lot of mental work and training for an elephant before they develop their manual dexterity with that thing. Jellyfish and squids/Octopus would be the cosest to having multiple trunks.

Also, a kind of weakness, or difficulty is required to motivate development and use of tools. The birds that use tools are those that requier it for their survival because their beaks and claws/tallons can't aid them get their food in their current environment. It would be the same thign for others, to start developing tools you will need to be poorly adapted to your environment.

That's often the case with humanity, we need tools to get our food opennuts, kill animals for food and eat them, to keep us warm and pretty much everything.

So, manual dexterity and weakness at the same time, aswell as intelligence.

It's been a month since the last point, but I feel like we can look back on this and consider just how amazing the Bioware team has done in making the Asari unique. Appearance wise, that is, as we know nothing about them in the game as of yet.

In Andromeda, it appears that they have entirely near features, allowing to possibly move beyond the star trek alien space babe with weird colored skin. In the beginning, I suppose that was fine, that was great for the campy feel of the series' beginning. Now however, it has become something greater, something unique and I have high hopes for the current version of Asari.

Behold! The future!

The only new feature is the eyebrows, which is kinda the opposite of making them less human, if that's really what you were going for with the OP.

About that, you don't *really* believe that this is what the OP got his panties in a twist for, right?

No, I didn't, but beauty is one great first indicator (because beauty encompasses fitness and health - at least for me!...come on Ashley wasn't a classical beauty/cheerleader-type and I like(d) her...did you even read that?)

Sorry, but even the most beautiful women in the world (note: I know it's subjective, but everybody has at least a rough outline of what they find sexy) is less appealing if she's either fat, looks malnourished, has bags under her eyes (lack of sleep for example) or shows signs of medical issues (maybe related to drug use etc.) etc. etc....she might be a beauty without all those issues, but as long as she's got those she doesn't look as good (I mean don't you think you look ugly if you are ill and haven't been eating properly for a few days (maybe because you can't keep anything down)? I bet you have...I mean I myself am not even what you'd consider beautiful (but not ugly either) and I do look "like ****" (that's what people tell you you look like when you aren't at 100%) if I am ill)

No, a person being beautiful is not a great way to indicate how healthy said person is. That was the entire point of the quote I presented: there is minimal correlation between physical beauty and physical health.  The primary correlation is between genes and health.

What you are describing are symptoms of illness, disease or unhealthiness. These are things that can affect a person's default appearance. A person fitting someone's perception of beauty or someone's perception of ugly can be equally as likely to exhibit these same symptoms. They can also both have genes that leave them more vulnerable to certain medical issues or substances.

In case this is a misunderstand, I'll ask; do you mean beauty as in a person being beautiful or do you mean beauty as in a person looking less well than they usually do if they are sick? Because what I took most exception to was the idea of correlating of physical beauty with physical health.  Although then I still wonder what you see as indicating that the asari is in poor health as oppose to simply not fitting your definition of beauty?

No, this being a 'lol they ugly' thread is not lost on me.

Still, the troll logic could use some work.

Well, I made the thread a year ago, and look how we have been rewarded? We have been delivered to controversy with eyebrows, face paint, and a decidedly different facial structure. That's at least somewhat of a change, something to consider. Even if the thread is a relic, I feel the discussion has some merit.

There is a theory that radiation made the Asari look like that. Its not fully fleshed out but the fact it exists says a lot.
