Why? Why is it bad for Asari to look like attractive women? Cus dudebros? Dudes aren't the only ones who appreciate attractive women.

How much does anyone wanna bet that in Andromeda there will be no shortage of conventionally attractive dudes to romance but there will be slim to no conventionally attractive women?

It's not.

Better question is why does it matter how they look at all? Do attractive characters (or what you personally consider attractive) really make or break a game?

Does it matter if it does matter? I'd assume most people want to roleplay romancing someone who would otherwise be out of their league in real life. Games are meant to be about escapism after all. Having a romance option that's unattractive isn't game breaking but it's going to make the experience a whole lot less enjoyable than would otherwise be. The plain fact of the matter is most people in the world simply aren't attracted to people they find unattractive. Why should the game be any different?

It might be interesting to look at ourselves. Is image important to us and how do we portray ourselves.  Do some of us go with the preset character and just get on with the game or do some of us take the time in cc to tweak our characters appearance to our satisfaction.

For those of us that are tweakers do we go for a realistic depiction or an idealized physique and features so we can spend a day or two to walk in the shoes of the handsome. There are some that want to rp the handsome/beautiful hero as it's a fantasy far removed from their mundane lives. So I suppose a substantial number of the attractive image tweakers would find the appearance of npcs etc. important to them. They're looking for perfection in their own characters appearance so it might be natural for them to look for similar qualities in npcs.

Although not an important issue for myself I can understand why some of us do like aesthetically pleasing characters.  It doesn't bother me either way and I find it mostly harmless.  I don't lose any sleep over it. Live and let live.

Thank the biotic god they didn't redesign the volus.

We'll see about that when the Quarians get replaced with a 5ft tall all male Volus race with sexy abs and grenade launchers.

New player: I've never heard of the Volus before, tell me more about them

(Pshhhht.)

The Turians tried to enslave the Vol Clan (Pshhht) after we created a race of synthetics (Pshht) that drove us from our homeworld.

(Psshhhht.)

So, we rebelled.

(Pshhht)

In return, the Turians unleashed upon our people (Pssshhht) a disease that left us trapped within these, suits.

You've heard me say (Psshht) Keelah Se'lai?

Truthfully no.

but for me personally, I think you guys have weird priorities if you feel it does matter. And yes, I am judging that one as a negative.

Do you have an example for "not weird" priorities? (I have a de ja vu)

You know, there are many people who feel judgemental about the act of playing video games in general.

Maybe you should consider a less judgemental approach, like: live and let live?

Interestingly enough, it's the women of my family that watch beauty pageants like miss universe, not the men.

It's hard to disagree with that.

I'd say attraction is something that goes way beyond merely the physical aspect.

I have a thing for salarians, for instance. And they don't correspond to my ideal of beauty. They look more like ants than people. I like them because they're dilligent, devoted to science and rely more on strategy and stealth than on brute force.

To be honest, if you feel uncomfortable about being judged on something that is, let's be honest, a little banal, I got nothing for you other than sorry folks might feel offended by that, but too bad.

All my life I have been judged for liking video games you know, or my weight, or sexuality, or whatever.  But I don't let it bother me because I know their opinions on such matters are insignificant to my own in such matters. I am fine with live and let live, but if you are objecting to the visual "attractiveness" of a fictional character, I honestly think that is a stupid thing to worry about.

That being said, what you implied you are right in the end, I shouldn't be commenting in this thread.
