One of the biggest potential wastes of Mass effect, to me, was having squadmates of 3, but not allowing friends to join in and play as the squadmates.

Do you think this will be changed in MEA?

No, I think singleplayer should remain exactly that: a single player.

That said, I would love if the multiplayer did have a story mode with it.

Will it be Co-Op? I hope to whatever is out there that the answer is no.

Will there be a tie-in between our single-player and multi-player modes? I don't know but certain leaks would say there is in an optional sense.

Would I like an optional Companion or two used only for Co-Op partners? Sure if they could implement it right, but likely they could not and so I would say no.

No.

Adding a storyline to MP (like GRAW2's co-op mode) would be fine though.

Halo single player has 2 player split screen/ co-op, and it works very well due to the fact it is invite only, and you don't have random nobodies joining in on your game and making a mess. And that it gets slightly easier, but at the same time adjusts the difficulty.

I would love an optionally ability to have a friend join, as long as there is no achievements or areas that require it. Optional. And no instant failure outside the iron man setting.

It would be pretty epic to combo together some biotic and tech insanity on the poor, poor, enemies.

Halo is an FPS with absolutely no interactive dialogue. The only way this works is basically either STWTor, which messes with how the SP is set up, or to have the other player just stand around doing nothing while the main player goes through cutscenes, or to just rush to combat (which means the game has to be designed around frequent combat).

I can just imagine how it play out if they went the SWTOR route. You'd be running through a story section for the first time and wanting to hear the dialogue, only to have the person who joined in repeatedly spamming...

"Skip!"

"Hit the spacebar!"

"OMG spacebar. This so boring!"

Multiplayer games can be a lot of fun, but there are always a few twitchy jackasses that didn't take their Ritalin.

Yeah, if there's one thing about multiplayer that can really get my goat, it's all the damn multiplayer.

I'd be down for a story with co-op, assuming the whole thing was co-op not just possessing a squad mate in combat. It would be something you'd need to be committed to doing well though.

I wouldn't expect it... or want it, for that matter.

I do hop on the "develop a story for the MP component" bandwagon, though.

Ewww. I play single player because I don't want to deal with people. If I want to do that, then I'll play MP. :P

What's a co-op single player? Is it like a vegeterian steak?

SIngleplayer is an inaccurate term then.

Think of it as a campaign, much like critically acclaimed Call of Duty: Black Ops II's "singleplayer" campaign.

I'm not seeing much difference here.

I hope the campaign doesn't have co-op.

It wouldn't work terribly well in a dialogue heavy game like Mass Effect. It doesn't work very well in SWtoR in my opinion, either.

Wouldn't make sense to. A majority of these games have to do with selecting dialogue options, which I assume your co-op partners wouldn't partake in, which would be boring for them

Pretty sure co-op wouldn't work well for ME since it's a RPG, not a FPS game.  We'd likely see co-op sooner in Fallout or TES than in ME or DA, imo.

I'm not sure how that would fit to ME. Likely at least two players having equal standings in game wouldn't work- I mean in terms of choosing dialogue, decisions and so on. No Co-op like in Borderlands at least. So the other player would need to be helper one, some games like Mario Galaxy have this option, but it's usually quite minor and boring role.
