I'd prefer MP being completely dropped or made a game of its own without tainting anymore the real game. I buy BioWare games for the SP game, I don't care for MP. Nothing good have ever come out from MP for those that enjoy SP. I've never seen anything translated from MP di SP. Nor weapons, nor armours, nor classes or fun stuff. MP just take from SP without giving back anything.

Gee, I enjoy SP - and I also enjoy MP. MP doesn't take from SP when an entirely different team with what is presumably a separate budget for that part of the game happens to work on the MP as they did in ME3. And really, for someone who hates MP to turn around and complain about not getting all the shiny MP toys seems a tad hypocritical to me. You hate it, but hey, you still want everything that people who enjoy MP work hard to get - all the unique kits and weapons, etc. I find that semi-amusing.

In any case, I think the OP is being silly to think that there's somehow going to be SP co-op when it seems far more likely that there will again be separate MP for people who enjoy that aspect of the game. It's time to accept the reality that ME3 co-op was popular and that MP in some form will be showing up again. Insisting that MP should just go away so that the SP game isn't "tainted" is a bit ridiculous and unrealistic at this point.

I hope they don't do it.

Now, if they want to create MP missions that resemble SWTOR's flashpoints so they have a bit more story to them, that'd be fine.

One of the biggest potential wastes of Mass effect, to me, was having squadmates of 3, but not allowing friends to join in and play as the squadmates.

Do you think this will be changed in MEA?

NO.

BioWare does that I won't buy the game. I want to play the singleplayer ALONE. Co-op sucks anyway it makes fun singleplayer games into unplayable messes.

What I have found insulting in all the MP threads is the notion that SP fans have to give up content that has zero benefit in MP without MP giving back to SP. If singleplayer fans have to give up content that can only be gained in MP then multiplayer fans have do the same,

Whilst I don't touch MP I do recognise it is very popular so I agree but I would prefer the 2 modes so that neither impacts the other and that both SP and MP remain independent units of each other.

I want SP and MP (No matter if co-op or PvP) so separated they come even in different disks. So I can put the SP disk on my shelf among the prized possessions on my gaming golden altar... and use the MP disk as a beer coaster.

After a hard day's work, putting up with the waste of tissue and organs which is my boss, after spending 2 hours standing up inside a crowded smelly bus, the LAST thing I want is to be bossed around by a random cheeto's stained neckbeard know-it-all tryhard who talks trough his nose on a headset while making disgusting munching noises.

On the "things I do not want" list, this very experience is the least wanted one. Even less wanted than things like "Being skinned alive and covered in salt" and "snorting wasabi" >_>

All the times I've played MP, I never really heard anyone eating. I did hear people play music though. That's much worse, albeit very very rare.

People can say what they want of the mechanic and lore inherent with MP, which admittedly is kinda goofy, but the players tend to be pretty friendly and helpful. I just don't care with spending a lot of time in co-op mode in general unless I know the person I'm playing with personally.

I'd like local co-op so I could game with my sister. Co-op with random people? No thanks.

So who is the protagonist that is roleplaying?

Again, another example of people having no idea wtf roleplaying is when talking about a roleplaying game.

Its possible, SWTOR proved that you can have multiple protagonists in a RPG, but its highly unlikely that ME4 is going to be designed from the ground up to be multiplayer the way SWTOR was.

One player takes on the role of the protagonist, the other(s) are essentially a party member. Worked fine back in BG. Don't see why it wouldn't work in ME.

Would only want to play with friends though, preferably in the same room as them; randoms on line would be horrible for something like this.

I'm not sure how that would fit to ME. Likely at least two players having equal standings in game wouldn't work- I mean in terms of choosing dialogue, decisions and so on. No Co-op like in Borderlands at least. So the other player would need to be helper one, some games like Mario Galaxy have this option, but it's usually quite minor and boring role.

Why do people always have to think so far? Just let the first player choose the dialogue, while the second player just plays alongside him/her in combat. It works in games like Halo, so why couldn't it work in this game?

The leaked survey has some answers about what they are thinking.

There are something called "Strike Team missions". Strike team missions can be completed by using resources to buy, equip and train your strike team who are basically assets and then they go off all Assasins Creed style and do the mission on a timer and team ability and mission difficulty determine success and then procure rewards. Alternative, you can choose to manually control the strike team with drop in drop out ability which then becomes a basic MP raid to get the same rewards.

ME games are- or at least have been- very story-based. Inclusion of co-op player would need to be made in way that didn't break inclusion and would make sense in the game. I don't think co-op fits to ME that well and would be hard to implement.

I wouldn't see the point but I didn't see the point in BG2 either for that same style of play. It wouldn't bother me if it was in there but at the same time I can't see I'd use it either as a leader or follower.

Does someone have the number of a good sniper on his hands? This idea need to die....possibly with a neat headshot!

Why are people so opposed to a BG-esque co-op system in ME? The only possible argument I can see against is that it would use up time and budget. And while I certainly wouldn't want a lot of effort put into it, if it could be done relatively easily, surely having additional features like this would be a good thing?

Because Mass Effect has a lot more dialogue than Halo does.

The only reason it works for Halo is because you don't stop to talk to somebody every 15-30 minutes. Having your second player not play for half the time generally isn't the greatest idea for a co-op mode.

Yes, just make every NPC killable so other people playing can ruin the main person's game. Then maybe people won't want co-op after that.

Nope it won't because it would detract from the SP experience. You want the online features you play MP. Jeez why we need to be always connected with people...just want to have a couple of hours by myself and feel immersed in the story.....to see co-op would be a game breaker feature for me. Having too many additional features doesn't necessarily makes for a good game. It's like saying hey I love that hamburger but wouldn't be nice if we add some marmalade with it....it an additional ingredient so it's better right? Well Wrong!

Worked fine in BG2, which had a metric butt-ton of conversations.
