The near constant mentions of Destiny on this board...

Couldn't you people at least pick a good game with a co-op mode to ask people to go to instead, like borderlands 2?

Destiny is a meh game but the co- op game play isn't why. An inpenetrable loot and leveling system, pointless classes, a verifiably insane "codex", fecal level matchmaking, non-existent matchmaking making you wish you had the bad matchmaking. Really the core pew-pew with your friends is all it actually does well to me.

Played Destiny 2 weeks and regretted purchasing the collectors edition when it first came out. Complete waste and over hyped game.

Badly overhyped. Sold as a mesh of Borderlands , Halo and Warcraft it managed to, unshockingly, not be as good at anything it does as any of those three games. Bungee builds a good smooth shooter but the whole package just wasn't there. I stopped playing months ago. I know people still playing who think it is "better" now and getting a bit closer to the game it should have been. The tragic part is I think they actually cared about the story but truthfully I can't even recall what the story was and even when I was playing I'm not sure I could tell the first 2 alien races apart.

The original story, or at least what I'm pretty sure was the story, seemed interesting, until it was gutted. And the DLC is laughably expensive.

I don't know what was more of a let down, Watch Dogs or Destiny.

Wow, close call. I think watch dogs just because at least destiny looked like the game we were shown.

..and maybe if I didn't have to login in to a bungie account to read cards I unlocked in the game to get codex info I might have had access to more depth of the story -- seriously whose idea was that? As it was I relied on Peter Dinklage's dreary exposition to get the story.

Speaking of ME3, one of the best things it added was "action mode".

So you're definitely a troll then.

...and has zero effect on you.

The anti-MP crowd is way, way, way too concerned that someone might be enjoying a game in a different way than they want them to.

I'm not anti-MP at all. I thoroughly enjoyed the ME3 MP. I'm opposed to MP changing the core gameplay of Mass Effect. I don't want Mass Effect to be more like Borderlands and Destiny, and I LOVE Borderlands.

Gather around kids, I'll tell you a story about why we can't have nice things.

Years ago,a  company called Bioware made games. Some of these games had co-op mode where you could play the game with your friends. Bioware made this feature likely because they thought it would sell more copies of the game, because players could have a fun shared experience.

Then one day a terrible Evil Alliance (EA for short) took over Bioware. Bioware, now a slave to the EA, was forced to make games that would sell millions of copies, for a minimum cost. There was talk about 'revenue streams' and 'microtransactions'.

Selling a few extra copies wasn't enough for the EA monster. It needed constant revenue. There was no money in 'co-op' play or solely single player games. Players must compete, not co-operate! Biowares EA masters snarled. They must want to one up each other, play for better gear so they can keep up to and surpass their peers, not merely 'have fun'.. EA said with a  sneering chuckle. We must give them incentive to pay real money in the hopes of getting rare loot drops, so make sure gaining advancement in game is as tedious and long as possible.. and Bioware obeyed, as they had no choice. All games must have multiplayer! EA decreed. Every game must sink or swim on it's constant revenue stream! Push multiplayer on as many suckers, err I mean customers as possible! Make incentives to play Multiplayer! focus mainly on Multiplayer in all game play and marketing! Make us some money!

And that, kids, is why we can't have nice things.

:D

Playing with 3 friends and having 4 shepards-equivalents in the same party might hurt the immersion some.

I've never understood why so many of us believe that being bought by EA made Bio more vulnerable to market forces. An independent Bio would be in the same marketplace as the current version -- only with less capital.

Bioware would be even more at the whim of market forces, because the market largely abandoned the type of games Bioware was good at making, and it's hard to imagine how it would be able to adjust without funds (compare e.g. the investment in ME1 v. ME2).

Would be redundant to wish it was another TPS franchise.

You'd be surprised at how many players actually skip dialogue to get to the pew-pew (or the hack-slash in DA's case).

The feeling of surprise in BSN is much like your kidneys in the worst parts of Mexico. At some point, you'll wake up and find it removed.

Ran into that in ToR a lot, and that game really does have an amazing story.

Yeah it's not like development costs skyrocked during the seventh generation or that ME1 had indicators that the developers were struggling with HD development or anything, nothing like that at all.

On the upside, you can buy cheap over the counter antibiotics in Mexico without a prescription after you wake to find your kidney removed.

It's incredibly irresponsible that people are allowed to do that though.

That drove me crazy with TOR. I can sort of understand it if someone has run through a flashpoint umpteen times, even though I still think they need to take their Ritalin...but you occasionally have people screaming skip and spacebar on day 1 for new content or even after being warned, "This is my first time though this, so I'm not going to be skipping dialogue."

The story is really the best part of TOR. Without that its any other MMO.

  That sounds about right.  My husband and I usually just stuck with each other when we were doing our first (Imperial) characters.  Flashpoint groups could be particularly rude about it.

I did have a lot of fun.  I particularly enjoyed the Rakghoul event.  Nothing like turning into a zombie, and puking on other players as part of a quest.  Up to 50 people all gathered around, puking on each other and zombified.  Good times.  Okay, that needs to be in a ME game.  :P

Sorry for the OT there.
