  That sounds about right.  My husband and I usually just stuck with each other when we were doing our first (Imperial) characters.  Flashpoint groups could be particularly rude about it.

That's, essentially, the problem with co-op (and multiplayer): you're pretty much either play something with your IRL friends, or you're getting trolled by randoms.

I've never understood why so many of us believe that being bought by EA made Bio more vulnerable to market forces. An independent Bio would be in the same marketplace as the current version -- only with less capital.

True, yet I don't see certain other developers pushing multiplayer into their games to capitalize on micro transactions and continuous revenue streams, and they seem to be doing alright.

On the upside, you can buy cheap over the counter antibiotics in Mexico without a prescription after you wake to find your kidney removed.

It's incredibly irresponsible that people are allowed to do that though.

Going to be blunt and serious here for a moment, if you are the victim of organ theft they will take both of them and you're screwed either way, that the ones doing that kind of **** care even one bit if you will survive is a movie/fiction fantasy.

Not in my experience, granted I'm not a sensitive little cupcake who cries when the occasional troll inevitably does show up every several dozen games or so.

My MP experience is limited to four games - Borderlands 2, Destinty, ME3, DAI. I never opened Borderlands 2 up to the public until I MP'ed ME3. I had one bad experience on ME3 with language and other than that the players try, they aren't always good but you can tell they are trying to be useful, help and when their mikes are on are not the jibbering idiots or racist I expected. I thought maybe the ME3 players were an anomaly because people playing a Bioware game would be (insert gaming arrogance here) a cut above the usual group of players. Never had issues in Borderlands which should attract all sorts of people. Same thing sure there was some profanity and some not good players DAMP no issues with the public there ever. Destiny is the only game I've had someone yelling at me for not playing the way they want me to -- and that happened a couple of time over a couple of weeks. In general, the public seems to be pretty decent sorts based on my limited experience.

I've never had a bad experience with people in MP myself; I just don't really care for cooperating with people in general, thus I solo most of the time.

Plus, without friendly fire, I can't amuse myself when I get tired of killing AI mooks.

One of the biggest potential wastes of Mass effect, to me, was having squadmates of 3, but not allowing friends to join in and play as the squadmates.

Do you think this will be changed in MEA?

Yes and no.  If the leak is to be believed, there will be optional SP side missions that can be played co-op, but there's no indication that the story missions will be co-op too.

Only the latter half is the problem. Some of the best moments in my history as a gamer came from playing multiplayer games with my friends and loved-ones.

That's because MP communities being toxic is an overblown stereotype. People only remember that one annoying douche they had 75 games ago, not the hundreds of other players they have gotten along with amicably since. Moreover, I don't know how anyone gets thorugh life at all by not knowing how to deal with unpleasant people

Not to encourage one to be one of those annoying players or anything, but in ME3MP you certainly can show your love for teammates despite the lack of friendly fire. They're called possessed abominations. Help your teammates by kiting/ pulling/ lashing them near and shooting them (bonus points if it is in the middle of the Abomb giving them a hug ) . Phantom sync kills can also be used somewhat similarly. Kite them close to teammate, prime them by allowing yourself to be melee'd, then dodge away and they'll make krogan shish kebab for you.

There's also Firebase Reactor Hazard. The Reactor works on teammates just as well as enemies, and there are even device and hack objectives that pop up inside it. Not that you should do any of that  .

I forgot about the reactor. Trapping people in it was funny. There should be a roast squad badge if you do it often enough.

I deal with unpleasant people just fine. I don't know why anyone would want to have to deal with unpleasant people during their down time. More than that, I just don't enjoy actually interacting with people, on a social level, when we're not in person.

I'm just always surprised as to how easily other gamers have found gamer friends. Despite having a pretty broad social circle, I've met very few people who play games, and essentially no people who play the games I like to play.

I want local multiplayer for at least one Mass Effect Title.

My only real multi player experience is from WoW and I have to say it was awesome!

Unfortunately the more casual the game became the less enjoyable the game play was. I've met two people that became my RL friends in there but later people started to be rude, impatient and intolerant so I stopped playing.

In general - if the game isn't MMO or shooter (like Borderlands for example) where multi/co op play actually works then fine. But if the game is "solo" like ME or DA series then adding co-op integrated with main story just destroys the game. Usually games like that have watered down story, you can't really have proper dialagues and role play elements cause others may have other opinion on the choices made and so on.

If MEA will have multi tacked on like ME3 or DAI  then fine, I'm not a big fan of this but OK, I'll deal with it.

But if we will have forced or optional co-op within the main story then I'll pass.
