WARNING: PIC HEAVY.

 

This is a WIP thread for my current (and first, ever!) cosplay build.

 

I started with a to-scale drawing of my mask, then made a paper pattern to be sure it would fit on my face.

 

 

 

I used the paper pattern to cut out plastic canvas for an armature (I would use something stronger next time, it tends to bend a bit under the weight of the paper clay)

 

 

 

 

I sewed the pieces together

I ended up cutting off the small spikes, but they did help me figure out where to put the paper clay.

 

 

 

 

 

Moveable jaw...

 

Mandibles and forehead plate. I didn't use the plastic canvas for the forehead plate.

Wow looking good! I'm not sure if you know this, but if you're looking to make something like that mask more rigid and structurally sound, you may want to put on a layer of fiberglass and resin on it before heading off to paint. It may need some sanding but in the end it will make the piece more durable.

I've accepted that my hands will now permanently look this way.

Glad to see you're making some progress! Red and black is always a good color combination! May I suggest putting the photos under spoilers in the future so we don't have to scroll as much?
