Designing a kid would take away resources from designing an NPC which is actually matters to the plot. Just an opinion.

You can't have people inbreed with a limited supply of genes. You don't want to start your Andromeda colony with morons.

Human populations don't need to be too big to avoid inbreeding for a considerable amount of time. I would imagine other species are probably similar. Of course, this all depends on how we get to Andromeda in the first place.

I may be wrong but I think the whole thing of having kids in MEA was to see a living Universe. I don't really think the OP was looking for more romance options by wanting to add kids.

I don't know about the effect in-game, but I fully support the idea for its effect on this forum. The long...um, passionate arguments demanding child love interests and demanding that a certain percentage (say, half) be conspicuously transgender and homosexual would be glorious.

And that doesn't consider the discussions once the fan base starts thinking in terms of playing as a child. Lots of deep trauma therapy oozing into the forums with that.

A very high maintenance one that lives an annoyingly long time, also sadly you can't really get rid of it once you have it until after you've owned it for about 18 years. On the up side the indentured servitude that it can provide can be nice.
