Last-gen owners needing to purchase DAI twice to play new DLC strikes me as opportunistic profit doubling by Bioware.

I wonder if it is feasible for Bioware to offer new DLC with the game engine only (without the main DAI story), but charge $5 more for the download than purchasing the new DLC by itself.

Or rather, release the DLC with the option between downloading as an add-on or as a stand-alone, as done with ACIV's Freedom Cry or Human Revolution's Missing Link. It would need to work with the save importer they just released, and the DLC wouldn't be able to access the original environments, but I dig it.

This is such a good idea that there's almost no chance they'd actually run with it.

Is it feasible to offer new DLC with the game engine only (Like ACIV did) so that last-gen DAI owners don't buy DAI twice?

I don't think we have an upgrade plan for the core game, but previously-purchased DLC will transfer over to next gen instantly.

It could be a way to appease angry last-gen DAI owners who refuse to buy DAI a 2nd time.  Just an idea - I play DAI on PC.

It’s a good idea, but I don’t think it’s technically feasible. Not my area of expertise, but I know we investigated.

The problem is not just bundling the game engine, but all the assets that plug into the game engine. While it may be possible for some games for others it may be extremely difficult.

:/

So they really are sticking to their, "Oh w/e" stance on last genners.

unfortunately no. The way #DAI is put together prevents DLC only packages

User@BioMarkDarrah
Would it be feasible to offer verified DAI last-gen owners an exclusive discount for repurchasing DAI on next-gen?
