I'm always in favor of more options. Objectives are already being modded in ME3MP.

I would be more interested in a moddable wave constitution honestly. That would be fun as hell in community challenges IMO and solos.

Bioware should just hire FemShep to do an editor and Cyonan & Co. to figure out how the game actually works.

As Invader said, we don't know yet how the objectives in ME:A will look like, nor whether the game will be soloable in the hardest difficulties. That being said, I obviously support the idea of moddable objectives, since it will make soloing less frustrating for console players. PC will still dominate because aiming with a mouse is vastly better but at least grinding on to get good objectives and consumables depletion will be no longer an issue for consolers. This type of problems is personnally what prevented me to really engage myself in speed runs solos.
As for the platinum solos HOF, as well as the Prestacious' themed challenges thread, they are actually some of the most friendly places around here. Maybe because they do hard challenges (and also probably because they fail quite a bit
), most soloers are prettty modest and mutually supportive.
I think I could count on the fingers of a single hand the people who came posting in the plat HOF to brag or to devalue the other posters' solos. Otherwise,
I wouldn't have continued this thread anyway.

None of the objectives are difficult but when player to player comparison is involved with regards to soloing then RNG objectives makes comparison very difficult since some objectives would take 20-50 seconds longer than others. Sure there's many other factors but some objectives in nature take longer than others which can have a considerable impact on time. Same map, enemy, and objectives gives a much better leveled comparison IMOThere shouldn't be that much difference in difficulty of the objectives in the first place IMO.

Equal difficulty doesn't imply equal completion time.

It would almost have to be soloable IMO though. Unless you're implementing cooperative objectives which would be a huge mistake. They cannot make a game where everyone fails the mission if a host disconnects or you can't play without a full lobby, IMO.

Equal difficulty doesn't imply equal completion time.
That's true.
Skill doesn't necessarily equal clearance time. Although it's a damn good indicator IMO of how you handle the game.
Another aside though is IMO Armored Compartments and Geth Scanner kind of trivialized the difficulty somewhat for team and solo games.

Trying to make this silly game competitive is a waste of time, at least in its current form. Objectives aren't consistent (even if you mod them locations are determined by RNG AFAIK and can still give huge advantages or disadvantages), netcode isn't consistent, it's horrendously unbalanced, mechanics are a disaster in terms of bugs, glitches and exploits and there's no real way to combat cheaters. I wouldn't have any interest at all in devs devoting time to something like this.
Those who want can already get a PC and mod the objectives themselves if they so desire doing so, instead of just playing CS:GO, COD, Halo, Gears, Killzone, countless MMOs or any number of games actually designed with a competitive scene in mind.

I can't (or don't want to) count the number of solos I've failed thanks to **** objectives, I still wouldn't change it if I could (and I definitely could). The RNG may be a massive PITA, but it's a part of the fun, no? Perhaps not for the speedrunners, though for everyone else? Need it always come down to a competition?
As for the Themed challenges thread, I've yet to see much of a competition there, it seems to me the posters there actually support one another. Haven't posted much in the speedrun hall of fame but they seem supportive too. Honestly, choosing objectives would not make things even, as others have pointed out, so what's the point?
