What is a decent setup on the Hunter?

I have tried most of the builds in the (few) guides.  Not entirely sure which ones are "the best."

Was maybe considering trying something with Stealth, Elemental Mines, Throwing Blades, and Leaping Shot, but that might require too much stamina.  Throwing Blades is on the way to Cheap Shot.  How much can you stack the sunder effect?

Also there is the issue of the bow.  I have mainly used Griffon on him since it can do triple damage at extreme close range or against large targets.  I also have the unique Dragon bow, PBTM, and Cruel Redemption.  I have tried Dragon a few times on him but I am not entirely sure the extra base damage is better than more hits at close range.  It seems hard for me to notice the difference in power damage as well, although I might not have had the best builds.  I haven't really messed with CR on him much.  What is the window on crits after stealth (with Knife in the Shadows), is it just one hit?

I think I am at something like 23/60/39 right now, so outside of Stealth/KITS I am not really close to guaranteed crits.

I have Superb Stamina, Cunning, Willpower Amulets; Superb HOK, Crit Damage, Crit Chance, Flanking rings; and then Enhanced Attack and Crit Damage rings (plus various ability, no ES or LS).

I usually use Altbouli's "too old for this sh*t" build.

Leaping Shot+

Stealth+

Spike Trap+

Evade+

Lots of fun jumping around like a ninja and spike trap is priceless. Not sure that's the "best build" but I think that the hunter is one of those hipster characters anyway that doesn't really appeal to min/maxers and therefore no one has tried to get an "optimal build".

I've been using Spike trap, Full Draw+, Fallback plan+, and Stealth+.

Like Texasmotiv mentioned, I dont really think there is a "best" build for him.  Its more like what build brings you the most fun.

A little tidbit of info, taking spike traps upgrade will prevent spike trap from receiving stealths damage bonus, or the autocrit from knife in the shadows.  If you want to use it for damage and not knockdown put a point in set them up instead.

Stealth - Leaping Shot - Throwing Knives - Evade

I use them in that order on a continual loop.

My preferred build was Stealth, Leaping Shot, Explosive Shot and Throwing Blades. The cleanse of upgraded stealth is as useful as the ability itself. Upgraded Leaping Shot for the utility of knocking down and interrupting immediate threats. Same with Explosive Shot, but that was as much for hitting clusters of enemies from a safe distance, and Throwing Blades was just a gap filler for killing things outright, weakening tougher enemies and bringing stealth back up.

At any rate, your best bet is to just try different builds. I hate most of the recommended builds I try.

Griffon > Dragon for Hunter, though, since he plays up close and can benefit from the triple shot. Tried other bows with him but always went back to Griffon. HoK and Crit Damage would probably be best for rings. Out of the amulets you listed, I'd say stamina until you find cooldown/dexterity.

Leaping shot, throwing blades, stealth and explosive shot. Heartstring or Hakkon as weapon.

Very pleased to see a lot of people with throwing blades in their build.  It's simply a fun skill to use.

I've never understood the enthusiasm for the skill...the blades miss way too much, and it costs 50 stamina to do as much damage as two auto attacks on the griffon or hakkon.

It's a 5x150% ability.

Description of throwing blade is wrong. It throws 5 daggers, upgrade do nothing.

Target need to stay in place, avoid those moving vertically to hunter and in general avoid using it on groups.

Not everybody has hakkon. Griffon? Really? When I have heartstring I would need to be blind to get this useless bow called griffon.

In general it's stealth -> daggers at high priority target (or group if just want to tag them for xp) -> leaping shot to another high priority target. Not bad synergy with pincushion, cheap shot and sunder effect. Draining stamina is the whole point, to get this fury of the storm work.

Pretty confident about my hunter

http://forum.bioware...p-build-thread/

Just control + f "hunter"

-Throwing Blades

-Elemental Mines/Spike Trap

-Toxic Cloud

-Stealth

Use with Griffon Bow or Hakkon's Wrath

Running nightmare with this thing and the damage is great, granted that is with Hakkon's Wrath but he was awesome when he had just the griffon bow.

Shouldn't have stamina management problems and if you do you can add Sadism

Fallback plan

Stealth

Spike trap

Toxic cloud

Use fallback plan, then stealth, spike trap from stealth and then attack. Use toxic cloud just before you retreat with fallback plan. The best build? Probably not. But i enjoy it. The only downside is, as with almost every single ****** hunter build, that by the time you got all the skills you're already close to promoting him.

leaping shot, throwing blades (unupgraded), explosive shot, spike trap (unupgraded). Nonstop ability spam each with a different strength and all synergize with pincushion. I was using CR before the hakkon weapons. Stealth just slows the gameplay down too much

Evade (for fun), stealth (for ninjaing), exploding shot (CC) and full draw from stealth for big critical damage.

Now you have all possible builds to choose from, capn.

Except, maybe, one without stealth...

I like to use Hook and Tackle, explosive shot and leaping on him. With Stealth or Fallback plan. It's my

build

But, really, the Hunter works in many ways

Hmmm.  Now I guess I need to figure out if I should dump credits into packs, or wait and see if class packs come out again.

I've run pretty much the same build since January, which consists of Stealth, Leaping Shot, Explosive Shot and Elemental Mines (at times I replace this with Throwing Blades). I play Flanking-CQC, Stealth-heavy, Assassin-esque trying to optimize the Griffon's 3-shot auto-attack feature. I've been running and playing the same way from when I had to stats worth speaking of all the way to the hundreds of promotions I have today, so I am pretty sure this build can work out for most people. The Griffon is pretty much the only bow I had used on my Hunter before the Hakkon bow was included - giving up the 3-shots isn't an option for me.

My hunter set up as follows:

Stealth (with upgrade and crit passive)

Leaping shot

Explosive Shot

Spike trap

I use a dragon bow, cruel redemption will help to keep you alive though.

Cooldown amulet, x 1 HOK ring, x 1 crit chance ring

Stealth to mob(s), drop spike trap, leaping shot away = dead mob.

Explosive shot for grouped targets, and to knock mobs on their asses.
