ok well theres a few things I want to touch on.... 

 

ok the philosophy of the decision: If you have taken a philosophy class at any point and time in your life then this may make since to you.

 

people cheat = so I will do nothing = bioware holds cheaters accountable.

people cheat = so I will cheat = bioware holds cheaters accountable.

two things will govern a decisions a.) what is beast for self... and b.) what is the likely hood bioware will do anything... 

 

if bioware does punish people I would think they would have to contend with three important questions.

who do we punish

how do we punish

and what will be the ramifications of our decision. because after all this is a shrinking community.

 

they need to determine  all of this.... but some good points have been brought up in this post, who is this exploit really hurting . and it does have some benefits in which I do think the double EXP weekend was trying to stimulate in the first place, with creating stronger player base so new players can get in and play since we are lacking badly on the strong player side. 

 

 

so I leave this for yall to think about... I feel not one way or the other... but this posts been a good read..... now I will go take a sword to myself and let my insides spill out

I agree, I dislike the fact that cheaters seem to be getting away with it. Forgetting the leaderboards, it annoys me that I have to spend longer to promote my characters than some others who are cheating in some way. But chill a bit, you sound mega upset.

I play on PS4 but I thought only PC had a cheat?

 

How can XboxOne users even cheat without modifying their console...

You raise an interesting point about the motivation of cheaters, and the risk benefit analysis that they must perform.

However, I'm more curious as to whether a god can solve a number puzzle so hard that he kills himself.

It's an unfair advantage. Now you might say that because of time restrictions some people can't play as much as others and get the stats needed to play at higher levels, and I would agree that that is a huge problem in this game that can't be resolved. However I would also add then that playing at lower levels should be challenging enough.

As for the leaderboard all it says about us is who has the most time invested in the game, or I forfeited my vacation so I could get 50 ExP this weekend, nothing more, but it is what it is. With this cheat it doesn't even say that.

But in the end whether we cheat or not says a lot about us. It has fractured the community right down the middle, to the point where people won't play with each other anymore. I won't play with people who use the hunter glitch either, since it changes the dynamic of the game from "let's see how we can win the game", to "let's see if we can break the game".

No the scoreboard means something because it is there.  Don't tell others how to enjoy the game.  People are cheating and they need to be held accountable for it.

 

I agree with this.  It devalues the accomplishment of those that got there honestly and for those that have it as a goal and grind for it legitimately, it becomes unrealistically harder to attain.

There was and still is a glitch that allows xbox one players to set up X4 xp lobbies, this was allowing players to level very very fast aver the double xp weekend.

I agree with the OP.  Something should be done.  Risk benefit analysis?  For what?  Cheaters are cheaters and I do not care about the motivation or what's behind the process that leads to the action. Ultimately I like playing with my friends.  They are nice and intelligent people whose accomplishment of reaching a high place on the board shouldn't be reduced to a warm, moist turd induced by  ultimate enemas or penultimate for that matter.  Anyway the whole thing is nonsense.  Just ban cheaters, hunter, elementalist, lobby, I don't care about the glitch just ban 'em.

I may know how to do it but I don't and I advise other players against it and I don't tell them how it can be done. The glitch lobby *issue* is one in name only. Everyone on xbox360 plays together just as they always have and their is no splintering. If you are cordoning off players from your lobbies because they found a fun glitch to play with a little bit then that's your loss not mine. Also saying that because I would cheat on this game I am somehow less of a person is childish. The world isn't Order and Chaos. It's just people and we try to get along as best we can.

I assume it's a sensitive matter since non-cheaters are getting caught up in it. The way many of these exploits work, you won't know how bad it is until the match is over and the experience is applied. I think the worst I saw was on PC where, after a perfectly normal match concluded, the Match Summary screen revealed that the host had earned 400 million experience himself. That was shared, so everyone had that much exp applied to their characters and it probably still exists somewhere in the account's data. If the devs decide to act on cheaters, they're going to have to comb through those who were unintentionally affected. That would take time.

 

The devs have stated their awareness of these issues and are looking into it. Just hope they come up with a solution and avoid cheating lobbies when you find evidence of them in the meantime.
