The Mako can be a weapon itself. Just run over the baddies. I did that in ME1 without ever having to use the weapons in some of my playthroughs

I actually wouldn't mind the Mako not having any weapons on it, as I don't generally find vehicle based combat all that compelling in most games unless the entire game is based around it which Mass Effect should not be.
Though all they really said was that the new Mako "doesn't have the cannon". There's still customization and everything being highly subject to change.

I couldn't care less for the Mako tbh. It was funny, but I only liked it's implementation on Therum and Ilos. All the other main plot missions vehicle sections were tedious, and I hate the side fetch quests and "go to this prefab to kill this random criminal" so much that I usually just blow right through ME1's main plot missions in like 5 hours now, ignoring all the side missions that don't involve getting Wrex's armor, Tali's geth data or helping Garrus with Dr. Saleon.
I'm fine with some vehicle combat sections in the missions as long as they are done well (IE, not leaving the vehicle simply to farm XP), but if there's an option to avoid ME1 style fetch quest grinding with MP, I probably won't touch that aspect of the game unless there are missions that tie into the main plot or characters somehow, even moreso if the Mako has no weapons on it.

I think we should be able to combat roll with the mako to kill enemies.

Or the sparrow in Destiny, but I doubt Shepdromeda can just whistle and have it materialize out of thin air.

Or really the Mako in ME1, since despite having weapons over time it became less durable than the party and, anyways, you got more XP killing stuff on foot.

Eh, man I don't like the way this game is going. No Shepard. New galaxy. New this, new that, most likely tons of retcons. And now no weapons on the mako.
Hell, maybe they'll just make it an RTS build a world simulator by the time it's all said and done.
What an over-exaggeration and over-reaction. First of all that's not how retconning works. In order to retcon something you have to change previously established facts. If this game draws on nothing from the original trilogy then it can't be full of retcons.
How do you go from the Mako having no weapons to the new game becoming an RTS world builder? That's a HUUUUGE leap right there.

Just treat it like vehicles in any GTA game or Far Cry: extremely useful for getting from point A to point B, very capable as a destructive tool, but just as fun and necessary to hop out and go on foot.

See, I never do that. Killing enemies while in the Mako incurs an exp penalty. Upon contact with the enemy I park the Mako behind a hill, get out and kill everything on foot. Armature, Colossus, turret... doesn't matter. It's all just juicy exp. I leveled up 2 times on Luna, before I even went into the first base. ^^

Or an old and wet mine. I was like "seriously dude, you became a crimelord to live/work in this wet hole in the ground in the middle of nowhere?"

I just want the Mako gone... or completely optional. If we're really forced to have those exploration segments, at least allow us to choose a squad member to drive for us on auto-pilot or install some VI on the vehicle to help us getting from point A to point B faster than a sneeze. I really hated the Mako in the first game...

X2.
Over reliance on the Batmobile ruined AK imho. Take note of Rocksteady's vehicular screwups BW.

This is why I always enjoyed my NG+ playthroughs so much more. None of this futzing about trying to farm xp from each individual enemy, which was something I was glad to be rid of in ME2 and 3. But when Shepard was level 60, it was a wonderful care-free free-for-all, and vehicular homicide was the soup du jour.

The Mako was always a means of exploration first, combat second. It wasn't perfect but it worked. In concept, it's a great idea. The Batmobile is Rocksteady's bone headed notion of puzzle and platforming. In concept, it's absolutely retarded. I've no fears the Mako implementation will as bad as the Batmobile.

Kinda have to second this, even Skyrim eventually patched in horse-combat... not that it was very good since the controls were often poor, but at least it was an option and made the horses theoretically more useful, even if the greatest threat to them was still often death from curb-sized drops.

Yeah, Arkham Knight took something that should have been a cool side-feature and used when we wanted it, into something that we couldn't avoid using because the game demanded it. Batman engaged in constant shoot-outs with the tank drones was extremely dumb, since wouldn't he want to avoid causing too much collateral damage to Gotham, especially since his style has always been to use his brain to solve problems, such as going around the rootops and attempting to blanket the city with signal jammers to prevent the tanks from functioning?
It honestly reminded me of how tedious some of the latter few seasons of RTD's run on Doctor Who became, when he started having the Sonic Screwdriver practically glued to the Tenth Doctor's hand as a magic wand to solve every single problem, rather than something that's supposed to be used sparingly, to either advance the story or get the characters out of difficult situations in a pinch.
Batman using the remote control to call the Batmobile to take down the the drones, while he was vulnerable because he was rescuing certain characters, was probably the only times in the game that it was justifiable for it to appear. It was also the most in-character for Batman to decide to use it in that manner, as he's always been about using his gadgets to distract enemies and attacking from the side rather than head-on.
Hopefully the Mako will be used sparingly and it's application will make sense, rather than being thrown in for the sake of the cool factor.
