Well, I saw this on steam yesterday and I really wanted to buy it (can only buy 1 of them) So I am wondering which of these I should get (never played a fallout game before

Sorry for this random question and my horrible english.

I prefer New Vegas though starting with 3 and moving onto New Vegas after would be a better idea.

I personally liked the atmosphere of Fallout 3 better, however overall I'd say New Vegas is the better game in pretty much every other aspect.

If you're getting the version with all the DLC, New Vegas is also much better in that area as well in my opinion.

New Vegas, but I'm not a FO3 hater either.

New Vegas.

I do not think Fallout 3 was a bad game, but just didn't live up to a good Fallout game like Fallout 2 and NV.

I definitely enjoyed 3, but you'll get better writing and better questing with New Vegas.

Same here, I liked the post apocalyptic atmosphere of Fallout 3 better, but everything else, especially the writing, the story & the character. I got to hand it to New Vegas. The linear story, the whole black or white morality (good versus evil) or various nonsense in the Capital Wasteland (such as Little Lamplight) in Fallout 3...ugh.

Don't get me wrong, OP. I don't think Fallout 3 is a bad game,  it's just that New Vegas is a better game in most aspects.

I would have said Fallout 3, but then everyone in here would scold me :( I enjoy both games alot, but i still go back to Fallout 3 more often than New Vegas, not sure if that means it is better or i just enjoy it more. Either way you can't go wrong, both are great games.

I like 3.

But once you get NV running you'll see just how much of a better game it is, both in the Fallout department and in the game department.

I mean, sh*t.

You don't get lines like this in F03

Fallout 3 all the way.

New Vegas is a good game, but the writing is just not anywhere near as brilliant as many people try and claim. F3 has way better graphics, gameplay, quests, and a far superior world.

Bethesda shows a fundamental misunderstanding of what the Fallout franchise is about, so NV wins by default. Better writing, better gunplay, better companions, better quest design. Wins just about every category.

That said, I will go against the grain and say that get Fallout 3 first if you are completely new to the franchise. New Vegas tends to work best when you have Fallout 1 and 2 experience as background/context whereas Fallout 3 is a better pick up, play and dispose of kind of game.

The writing in New Vegas does a very good job with the 'background' stuff. Fleshing out the minor characters, the background world, the past events, stuff of that sort. But when it comes down to it, the central conflict isn't done particularly well, the ending is outright bad, and the characters (as in, the companions) are...ehh...better than mediocre, but worse than good.

Wat. Everything else is subjective but FO3 and NV are ****** identical graphics wise.

F3 = better narrative arc, more endearing, a bit less fidelity to the original 1 and 2

FNV = more variety, factions, boring story

No one really outsmarts the other.

No they're not.

You look at the textures of the new weapons in NV compared to F3, they look like vomit. The landscape is far more dull and lifeless than F3. You can just tell there's a lot more care put into the world of F3, graphically speaking if nothing else.

I don't know what crack you've been smoking but a fair few of the textures and assets have been reused and the ones that are new are the same resolution. Both games look like hot garbage.

Most of the new stuff looks as good as the ported weapons. Not sure what you're talking about with the world either it's about as dead as FO3 was.

Not sure what's more drab. Desert or a blown out DC.

Either way, I feel more like a cowboy in New Vegas. FO3 is good to do the whole Brotherhood thing instead.

Go get a varmant rifle and look down the sights on the xbox 360. Preferably on a nice, high quality television. It's bad enough to make me want to quit the game as soon as I meet Sunny Smiles.
