NV *is* FO3 so I don't see the argument.

>.>

Pretty much. Gameplay wise at least. NV makes a few small improvements in that section though.

Go get a varmant rifle and look down the sights on the xbox 360. Preferably on a nice, high quality television. It's bad enough to make me want to quit the game as soon as I meet Sunny Smiles.

Not sure about the 360 but it looks fine on the PS3. Dated as hell just like the entire game but fine.

More degredations than improvements.

It only adds stuff you don't even need to touch. (crafting, look down sights, mods) I suppose there is the change to food items though I got used to that quickly.

It adds the reputation system, which is a sloppy mess and requires me to be annoyingly careful about wearing about the only good armor that doesn't look retarded in the vanilla game. (NCR ranger armor.)

It adds the weapon requirements, which isn't a terrible idea, but I should not need to be a literal master of firearms to effectively use a simple semi-automatic carbine. Nor above average strengh to use a 308 rifle. Also, they should have been gated at 20, 40, 60, 80 instead of 25, 50, 75, 100.

It replaces many of the perks, and the new ones in New Vegas are largely very underwhelming.

There's a difference between 'fun and challenging' and 'annoying and pointless frustration.'

The first one makes the karma system meaningless which is great because **** karma systems.

The second fixed the FO3 problem where you are a god no matter how you build your character. Now you have to be smart when you level.

The 3rd one I never really noticed. Most of the perks were pretty **** in both games with one or two perks everybody chose.

Only thing I liked about New Vegas is how you can shoot your gun effectively without the VATS system. Otherwise I felt Fallout 3 is a much better game besides the fact if your on console you gotta VATS everything otherwise you take more damage trying to aim lol

To be honest, I think both Fallout 3 and New Vegas are too easy. Fallout 3 more so because not even the Deathclaws are a threat and the DR system was hilariously broken to the point where you were virtually immortal with the right setup.

Fallout 3 also has the insane ability to let you build a perfect character with 10 in all SPECIAL stats and 100 in every skill. I have no idea why Bethesda ever decided to allow that. It makes any character building choice essentially irrelevant, because you're a master of everything in the end anyway.

New Vegas can also start running into the issue where you can max almost every skill with all the DLC, unless you take Logan's Loophole as a trait.

As far as I'm concerned the reputation system is infinitely better than the karma system, and I hope Bethesda uses it for Fallout 4. I really dislike binary morality systems in games, as morality is not something that comes down to black and white.

Oh yeah both games suffer massive balance issues. FO3 you just become immortal and NV you have so many items you might as well be.

I must think more simpler than you because I just wanna be able to aim my gun without VATS lol. If I am playing a first person shooter I better be able to just aim the gun and kill stuff lol

Reputation isn't exactly about morality. It's about social relationships. Typically groups rank differently on the moral scale in games to keep things fresh, but you could easily have a game with either all good or all evil organizations, and still have reputation scores.

I much prefer New Vegas as well, but I still think you need to get Fallout 3 first if you haven't played it.

I actually play without VATS at all unless I feel like exploiting it for fast reloads. Having perfect stats does plenty of other things behind just being able to aim your gun effectively, which I don't think they should have gun spread that is based on stats like Fallout 3/NV did in the next game. It's silly to do in the FPS mode combat.

I'm expecting Fallout 4 to have balance issues as well. Bethesda simply just isn't good at balancing their games. Magic was hilariously broken in Oblivion, and then stealth in Skyrim.

Yeah, but I prefer the reputation to any morality system I've seen in a video game. Most of them just want to try and shoehorn everything into being good, evil, or neutral. A lot of the times good and evil are more about which point of view you're looking at it from.

I would say:

Star Wars = Fallout 3

Empire Strikes Back = Fallout New Vegas

They're both great in some ways, but New Vegas is great in most ways.

In this analogy, I guess the prequels would be the ending to Mass Effect 3, or something...

By the way OP. Since you're getting for PC, don't forget to check out some user-made mods on Nexus.

Remember, a Fallout game isn't complete without maid costumes.

I guess ill try and get New Vegas again if I see the Ultimate edition. From what I read here my lack of liking fallout new vegas was not understanding the stats system or whatever the best lol.
