I really hope you two are right. I was happy to see him close-up, however briefly, after the Inquisitor made her call to action. Where did you hear that some of it was originally content meant for the base game?

In an interview with Gaider. It was posted at this forum sometime ago. He said that finding Solas was part of the main ending, but they cut it due to time.

Ah, cheers. Good thing it was cut, Inquisition had too much crammed into it with too little depth as it is, so I hope cutting this means it got a better treatment than it would have otherwise. Was that in the Twitter interview? I skipped that because the Twitter format is just too messy for me to bother with. Gotta say, I miss the days when the devs were still on the forums and we could hope to talk to them there instead of having to use an external platform. But I can't blame them for not doing that anymore, because of the increased traffic and the accompanying increased hostility.
Anyway. More Cole, please. Can't wait to hear that soothing voice again. And Maker knows the poor Inquisitor sounds like she needs it, too. ![]()

I know! I think making it a DLC was PERFECT! We've gotten to know everyone and learn new things and they are all like family, so waiting nearly a year to say goodbye will be amazingly touching.
No kidding! She snapped big time! I always wondered if she would because she's held it together for so long and to have everyone she saved turn on her is just so wrong!

Good news! Cole will be changed in the 2-year later DLC based on your choices you made and if you are close enough to him to give him a reason to come back and help!

I know! Human Cole and Spirit Cole will have noticeable differences (look and feel). I am so excited for this! I thought only fanfics or DA novels would tell us how he is doing, but this is more than I could have hoped for!

Just read up on that. I'm excited to see how the "human" Cole has come along. Two years is a lot for him to grow.

Thanks for the link. Here's something that should give an answer to your previous interrogations Korva (taken from the interview Cespar mentioned):
"For several of the characters, depending on where you took them with their personal plots, they may or may not appear at all. One that leaps to mind: If you didn’t really dig into Cole’s personality – if he remained a cipher – then he won’t appear in this. He won’t have that connection that would draw him back to the Inquisitor two years later. It also goes beyond that – it’s not just "do they appear or do they not?". One part of Cole’s personal arc is whether he’s more of a spirit or a human, and that’s going to change his circumstances. The more human Cole is going to look and feel quite different than the Cole that was pushed toward spirit. So, you get to see some repercussions with your followers. And, of course, we want to make sure that you have one great last adventure with them."
Oh mon Dieu!!! I can't wait to see Cole's evolution!!

I just wish he hadn't left to begin with. As I said so many times, the lack of enduring friendship bonds and the way the NPCs apparently can't wait to collectively abandon the protagonist as soon as the big bad's corpse hits the ground has been a big sore spot for me ever since BG2 ToB. Still. The trailer looks good, the interview sounds promising, and while I refuse to get hyped, I'm cautiously optimistic. Now my main hope and worry is that Patrick Weekes gave us something truly memorable, touching and caring for more-spirit-Cole. They really screwed up his last cutscene with the way the Inquisitor walked out on him, and there is so much bias against the choice in the fandom ... I hope that didn't influence anything.
I'm curious how he will "look different". The brief close-up in the trailer looked the same to me, but it was brief.

Maybe humanized Cole gets clothes that he didn't take off a scarecrow? Or at least pants that cover his ankles correctly. I imagine Vivienne might have insisted, since human Cole is remembered by people and therefor so are those clothes. lol
Nobody (except the Inquisitor perhaps) touches the Hat, though. I am sure that's where the line is drawn.

I always wanted to give him some new clothes -- nothing fancy, of course, just something comfortable and not in the process of falling apart. Sure, if he can ignore other demands of his body, then bad weather probably does not really bother him either and won't make him sick. But he's one of us, and no member of the Inquisition or personal friend should have to look like a threadbare fugitive. While he says "looking doesn't matter", and I agree that it shouldn't, some of the people he approaches to heal their hurts might be more receptive if his appearance didn't give the impression that he might be desperate enough to murder someone over a pair of old socks or a stale crust of bread.
And heh, the hat is out of bounds, yes.
I do wonder if he made it himself.

That there will be repercussions for what direction we take our allies makes me really happy that I have a good number of playthroughs with the different choices. I can't wait. Seriously. I think I may take a flight out to the Bioware studios and pilfer myself a copy. XD

I'm not hyped, but you have my sword if you want it.
(Cole disapproves.)
But ... it would make the impatient people feel better? We promise we won't hurt anyone.
(Cole still disapproves.)
All right, all right. No pilfering. I'm sorry. ![]()
Maybe I should use the time until Trespasser's release to actually play JoH first, seeing as how I did pick it up in the recent sale. That'll give me a small compassion-spirit-fix at least.

Remember the slaves you can free in Emprise du Lion and the Hissing Wastes? I shamelessly admit to quickloading repeatedly after opening the first cage-wagon just to hear Cole's different approving lines.
And every time he pipes up after completing a sidequest just make me smile. He helps even when not actively trying to heal someone's hurt, simply by being himself.

I should have an app on my phone that triggers his approval lines everytime I hold a door open for someone or give money to charity. I'm sure it'd make people far more generous and caring if you had his little voice pipe up after you do something nice.

Hugs would be awesome. I'm still not sure how I think Cole would react to one, but if there is one character who deserves one at long last, it's him.

It's hinted that our time with the companions will be like in Citadel, so I have a feeling it's going to be pretty special! They said they know we wanted more interaction, they said they were aware we wanted our companions to talk more in Descent and now they are giving us that.

So, quick question. I bought JoH on the recent sale and finally started playing it. From what I heard, the Augur at the hold is supposed to address Cole, but when I talked to him, all I got was an interesting brief introduction to the local spirits, to which each of my companions replied. Cole's happy "Hello!" made my day, but I'd really like to hear the Augur recognize him as a spirit. It doesn't happen when I talk to him again, either, or when I explore any of the dialog options. For the record, this is post-Corypheus, Cole's quest is of course long completed, and all I have done so far is talk to folks at the starting camp, fought a nasty battle against an ice giant boss, spoken to the fisherman and then found the hold and talked to the Thane. I'd really like to hear that brief interaction.

I'm not sure what triggers that. I always make Cole more human. Maybe it was the woman with her own spirit companion?
