In the interest of making everybody happy, of peacefully resolving the various cultural battles, and of earning profit and goodwill for Bioware, I am hereby proposing that, in addition to main character creation, Andromeda offer the option of creating the game's love interest.  Do you want a bipolar transcendentalist Quarian with the crossed-over voice of an elderly Vorcha? Or would you prefer to be swept off your feet by a blonde, buxom, fully AI Omni-tool, with a kind heart and a foul mouth? We need customized love interests.

I think it would be a great idea if we could browse a dating web-site on the in-game extranet. We could look for potential romantic partners using a variety of search parameters such as species, gender, personality, hobbies, occupation and looks. Then we could actually arrange a date with these people and travel across the galaxy to meet them in a fancy restaurant in a bustling metropolis located on some exotic far away planet. All of these dates would be the same one elcor. "Regretfully: I may have put on a few extra pounds since I last updated my online profile."

Are we seriously now proposing to turn Mass Effect into a dating sim? I thought Mass Effect was supposed to be an RPG shooter? But I guess I must be wrong, considering the obsession with romances that people on the BSN have.

Well, as Bioware joked about at a panel for DAI "It's a dating sim with a 'save the world' minigame.".

That would have been funny if it wasn't exactly what BioWare's games are heading towards.

Oh well, we'll see. If ME:A fails then we at least have CD Projekt RED and Warhorse Studios left. They'll (continue to) make solid RPGs, I'm sure.

Based on these forums, BioWare would make a ton of money if they did make a proper AAA dating sim.

Although I think the forums play them up as being a lot bigger of a deal than they actually are. They're still a pretty minor fraction of the total companion interaction, much less the total game content.

I'm surprised they haven't tried the genre yet. Fan service it to hell and back and collect $$$$.

No doubt they'd make a ton of cash with that. They'd still have to tie-in some save-the-world power-fantasy wish-fulfillment though, because the average BSNers don't just play to get their genitals stroked, they want their ego stroked as well.

Dude, they've apparently passed dating and gone straight to birthing half-alien children

I saw that. I think I even replied in that thread.

You know, what the heck, why not go down all the way? ME:A should allow us to marry aliens, have babies with them and then being taken to the cleaners by them and being forced to pay monthly alimony and child support.

Thoughts?

I've suggested adoption.  That would be cool.  Marriage is another cool option.  In the ME Universe interspecies relationships and marriages do happen.  So would make sense if we could be in a marriage with our LI.

Maybe so, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was added in the game.  In previous BioWare games you could marry your LI.  Just saying, serious or not.

That's what makes it so comical, on top of the "romances" being pure schlock("but the priiize").

I get the feeling that Bioware still wants to pretend their fanbase isn't out for mere power tripping and with a romance fantasy tied to it, and instead is out for their "quality" writing and storytelling.

Otherwise, they'd do what tecmo-koei has been doing with costumes DLCs for DOA5 and rake in the ben franklins and andrew jacksons with such content satisfy the whims of their fanbase.

As far as I know the only game in which you can marry your LI is Dragon Age Origins and that's only if you play a female warrior/rogue and romance Alistair, and only because that marriage is significant to the plot of DA:O.

I'm only in favor to adding marriage in ME:A if there is also an option to divorce your male LI and take him to the cleaners and get paid monthly alimony by him for the rest of the game.

And everyone who plays a male character and marries a female character should be taken to the cleaners by their female LI at some point in the game and then being forced to pay alimony to her for the rest of the game.

If BioWare does that, then I'm all in favor of adding marriage to ME:A.

I wish Bioware would give the Renegade bad bitches I prefer to play as the ability to play a sexually promiscuous game of whack-a-penis instead of this sappy "romance" nonsense.

Yeah we should be able to ride the carousel when playing as a female character.

You know what carousel I mean:

You can marry your love interest in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Although if you do they will start talking about kids. Anyway, I am not above the idea of marriage... as long as the romance continues. I do not want to marry someone then have mundane dialogue for the rest of the conversations. What if another hot alien girl comes along and she is feeling lonely and likes me...?

Then you're cursing yourself for ever agreeing to marrying that wife of yours who all of the sudden isn't all that attractive anymore.
