No you didn't read it right.  "Enjoy it while it lasts" is a common term used to tell people that something is going to be gone/killed off.  In the next line he is telling you they are looking to fix it.

They will fix it, they ought to. But what about the massive XP people will earn in the meantime; are players supposed to enjoy it with no consequences?

Besides, double XP is an overstatement, People are reporting going from level 1 to 17 in one Threatening game. That is 1 promotion every two Threatening games. Under normal circumstances, one player would have to play about 15 well-farmed Threatening games to promote.

Being totally honest.  If I played in one of those rooms for an entire day (or many days) I feel like I wouldn't be as far as I would be if I never had to deal with the RTC not dying almost every game, keys never dropping in zones, and various lag/freezes/glitches especially on FC map. We're talking  issues that persisted months upon months upon months.

I don't know how much XP i missed out on since release day, but I know its a heck of a lot.

Those people are lying then. It can only be double xp and no more

Edit: It could have been maybe possible if they were doing it during that double xp weekend. Then it would've been 4x xp

Meh... Doesn't really matter to me... All that matters is weapon progression from the high level dragons... I can do that with all of my characters so not that big of deal...

However, I do like watching people get punished so.... OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!

There is a difference between encountering a bug once and exploiting the hell out of it because they know how to get a glitched lobby.. Exploiters should be banned imo.

It was probably way more XP during the Double XP Weekend. However it still is significantly more than mere double right now.

It can be reproduced. I've heard of people being able to reproduce the glitch since last Sunday, a week ago. Bioware has pretty much given the green light until it gets fixed (that is my understanding from Fiddz post). There is no prospect of the bug being fixed until the next patch is out, which due date  is no less than several weeks from now.

So what we are facing here is purely an ethical matter, since it seems like anyone can glitch and get away with it. My main concern is the impact on the Leaderboards. If the person next to you is glitching, why wouldn't you? It is just like steroids in sports.

Bioware must take immediate action or glitch lobbies may end up becoming the norm.

Perhaps you should untwist your panties about your leaderboard position and actually read the Bioware posts on the forum. They are working on fixing it, but it takes time. There is a certain process involved in reproducing the issue, isolating the cause, finding a solution and finally pushing out a patch (and getting it approved for consoles).

Fiddz clearly meant that people should enjoy it while it lasts because it won't be around for much longer. Luke has often said the same about classes and abilities that were about to be nerfed in upcoming balance changes.

There is an intermittent bug for this happening that we're trying to track down. If it happens to you just enjoy the nice bonus, because one day Jeff will find out what's happening and fix it  :P

Ok, so what I understood you said, Cirvante, is we should enjoy the bug until it is fixed, on the other hand, what I understood from Fiddzz is we should enjoy the bug while it is in effect. The difference is that what you said seems to indicate it's ok to exploit the glitch until they fix it, but I think this is not what Fiddzz meant....

Anyhow, I could be wrong about this as I'm not an expert on english, so if this I am indeed wrong I'm sorry.

The key words in Fiddzz/Blair's post that show that he wasn't telling people to cheat are "Intermittent bug" and "if it happens to you." He didn't say "this is an exploit we're trying to track down. Enjoy doing a few specific steps to intentionally glitch the lobby until we fix it." It sounds a lot more like an admission that people will probably encounter it in the wild and reassurance that there are no negative repercussions/you won't be branded and banned as a cheater if you accidentally receive the extra bonuses. I'll admit that it'd be neat to see my own name on the leaderboard and it's too bad this exploit means I won't ever get to, oh well :P

Imagine finding a really cool toy in a sandbox. Then somebody tells you that pretty soon he's going to take it away from you and make you watch as he sets it on fire, so you can enjoy it for as long as it takes him to get some gasoline.

Hope this clears things up.

For all the love of god I haven't come across any double xp lobbies. Probably coz i'm stuck on NM dragons farming for weapons that never drop

Have I made a big claim of my Leaderboards position at some point? I hope not. I am not sure why you are bringing that up. I never thought of myself as a Leaderboards jerk.

Fiddz meant people should enjoy something that is arguably cheating. The fact that it won't be in the game for long shouldn't make it justifiable.
But thanks for your hint that I should pay attention to the forums in more detail. You may be right about it.

To the point,

Because it keeps getting beat to death, I personally view the leaderboards as a by product of my doing challenges and promotions. I promote because I want my characters to get stronger. I do challenges because they are there to be done. Sounds rational right?

Its a game that rewards having stronger characters to go into increasingly difficult levels and surviving more easily as one progresses.

I don't understand why some people get all jammed up about people wanting to level and promote their characters as fast as they can by what ever means at their disposal. Its a game. Its a fantasy game. It should not be equated to any activity in the real world on any level period. Question: Name one recognized legitmate sport in todays world where the object of the game is to cleave someones or some demons head in two? If they aren't crapping up your match why care?

Its a fantasy game. Please don't bring real world politics into this fantasy role playing game.Stop climbing all over the Devs  because someone else likes ice cream but you don't. Social engineers are brainwashed early and they ruin everything.

Now imagine this really cool toy has some sharp edges on it or is just harmful in someway, it may be fun but this doesn't hide the fact it is dangerous. I get your point of view and I can identify with it, but sometimes the fun some could have is not worth the harm it would cause to others.

If this double xp thing only affected you or the people that play with you, I couldn't see any problem with it, heck, you could call me crazy if I even said so! But that's not the case, it affects other people and not everyone likes it. SpaceV3gan cares about it, and based on what I read he seems to care about the integrity of the leaderboards, and many others probably care too; for example I care! People invest their time to get to the learderboards and this investiment should be respected, no matter the reason.

I'm sorry if I offend you in anyway, just wanted to share my opnion. Thanks.

Except that it doesn't negatively affect them directly. If we were to stay with the sandbox example, it would be vegan feeling threatened about his status, because showing off your cool new toy might make you more popular than him. It all comes down to envy at people progressing faster than you.

I'd even go as far as to speculate that if vegan was able to pug normally and sometimes ran into the bug himself instead of having friends offer him games in a glitched lobby, he'd be less anal about the whole thing.

If you want to be competetive, then you should simply play a competetive game instead of trying to be competetive in a casual co-op game. It's pathetic.

Holy.. way to blow what I said completely out of context, I guess it's my fault for trying to be lighthearted.

Ok, i'll break it down so there is no misunderstanding.

1. There is a bug, if you enter upon a game where it happens, don't feel like you've broken some kind of rule playing there.  But it's probably advisable to leave the lobby if the people playing there are purposefully doing an exploit.

2. We're investigating the bug, and yes some people can reproduce it.  Reproducing =/= the solution is easy.

3. EXPLOITING a known bug for gain is against the TOS, and we are in no way condoning it, and could lead to you getting banned, which would suck.

Finally, stop taking what we say out of context in order to perpetuate an argument or point of view to suit your own goals or troll the forums.

/lock
