If Lead Writer Gaider is leaving the Dragon Age series, who will write the Dragon Ages to come? :o

And how do you think the new Lead Writer change will affect the games to come?

I am excited! How about you?

Patrick Weekes is the new lead. He wrote The Masked Empire and Cole, Solas and Iron Bull. (And other things I don't remember.)

Yes, no doubt the new lead writer will put his unique mark on the game. I am excited to see what he will do and excited to learn what David Gaider's new project is.....

I'm assuming David Gaider will be working on MEA?

Not worried.  Gaider was ONE of the writers, not the only.  Fresh blood may help.  Can't hurt, right?  A new voice will do some good.  Post Inquisition might not even need the same writers.

No, some new project in Bioware. People are talking that it's new title.

Patrick Weekes, and I am not confident in his abilities. He says he'll dump more transgender content on us and not give us a variety of choices in how to respond to it in-character. Other than that, I've not seen him really talk about making any complex or interesting storylines.

Well he did write Solas, who is as complex and interesting as they come. He was an excellent edition to the Inquisition cast even before his big reveal.

I also very much enjoyed Iron Bull's personal questline, lots of variety and complex moral issues present within that one. And unlike many of the personal quests in Dragon Age games of past, this one actually changes Iron Bull forever. Let me say and emphasize how much I LOVE decisions that actually MAKE A CHANGE (Witcher series y'all) in the games' world: be it a single character or otherwise.

Didn't care much for Cole at all but most people love him. Again, he had an interesting personal questline, actually makes an immense impact on his character.

Don't know how familiar some of you are with the Mass Effect series, but Weekes wrote the absolutely incredible character Mordin Solus. That alone should prove Weekes' ability to write stories and characters.

Yes, I believe people speculated so because David Gaider apparently does a lot of world-building.

Was Gaider responsible for going the direction that they did with the mages and templars?

I'm not too worried the direction Patrick Weekes is going to take Dragon Age, cause he has done quite nice job with some of the characters and TME was quite nice too. However I'm quite sad to see Gaider gone, since his character were always my favorite from the games. Zevran, Dorian, Cassandra and Fenris. So I wonder if there is going to be characters I like as much as them in upcoming DA games, hmm.

Jennifer Hepler wrote most of the mage_templar war in DA:II under Gaider command, but Gaider is the lead writer through the whole franchise, he started the dragon age, created most of the characters and the novels.

Gaider fell off, so good that he's gone. I thought Weekes was a good writer but he's terrible. They should get real new blood. New game directors and producers too...in fact a new studio would benefit the DA series.

Well Weekes certainly didn't do a good job with ME3 , just hoping he wont screw DA universe with some bizarre ideas.

As long as the mage/templar stuff is left behind. That's all I want.

I loved Gaider's characters, but I think I'll like Weeks more as a lead writer. They've both done great work, so I'm excited to see what happens.

What do you mean by this?

Weekes stated that he would add more transgender content to the next game, and that options to disagree with it would not be implemented for player choice purposes. He also stated that if players don't like that, then they should not play Dragon Age anymore.

I disapprove of efforts to restrict player choice.

Solas had some good lines, but I know a lot of people who couldn't stand Solas. I was okay with him.

I was all right with The Iron Bull's personal quest, but I think the battle could have been implemented better. The fiasco kind of spoke poorly of the Inquisition's effectiveness, in my opinion. Also, the quest might not change him forever if you side with the Qunari. He might stay Qunari for good, or he might drift away from it again.

I really liked Cole. If Weekes is responsible for him, then I'll give Weekes some props for that.

Never played ME.

Among other things, you also can't engage in a racist rant thrown at Vivenne. That Bioware, how dare they refuse to allow you to express IRL prejudices that have no part or justification in the setting. The horror. The horror.

So it's basically confirmed that Maevaris will be a companion in DA4: Tevinter. Nice.

Is being able to disagree with a transgender character's state of being really restricting player choice? Being transgender is not a choice just like being heterosexual or tall is not a choice. I can't recall ever being able to 'disagree' with a characters heterosexuality or physical attribute anywhere in this series. By that vein player choice has been 'restricted' since day one.

And he just may have taken Mary Kirby with him.
