Hey folks,

I appreciate everyone wanting to chime in on the topic. Good, healthy discussions are always fun, and a big part of why I enjoy jumping onto the boards to chat with all of you.

That said, there have been some comments directed at others here that don't fit that "good, healthy discussion" vibe. I realize there will always be differences of opinion and agreements and disagreements with how others conduct themselves in game, on the forums, or in life, but I'd appreciate it if everyone could please stand down on the personal attacks.

I've reached out to a few of you individually to note that we've seen and heard your concerns, regarding the game and how players are interacting with each other here and in-game. It's a topic I'm very passionate about. I love coming here to chat with you all, and it's a lot more fun when we can all chat without getting into finger pointing. If you see someone post something rude, or inappropriate, please do not fire back. Just ask that they leave the personal attacks out. If you're not comfortable doing that, or they continue to respond negatively, please use the "Report" function or direct message myself or one of the admins/moderators.

The forums returned to a great place to be and somewhere I frequent regularly since we launched DAIMP. You all had a part in that. So, THANK YOU! Let's try to keep it awesome going forward. I hear we have a few more games on the way :-)

Billy - and I assume Luke - for Andraste's sake, go home!!!  It's after midnight where you are (if I'm doing my math right...where is Edmonton again? lol stupid 'mercan).  I have been known to mock the leader board, but mostly because even if it went to 100,000 I probably wouldn't be on it.  But, as you have acknowledged it is a matter of integrity, and I can get behind that.  Keep fighting the good boss fight, and thanks for all that you do!   (not laughing, this is a cheering emoticon, completely different, I assure you)

 

And, while I agree with a lot of you about who is or is not a douche, we're all in the DAMP forum on a Saturday night.  I would guess there is enough 'passion' for this game to go around.

For the record "Enjoy it while it lasts" has never meant "I approve of or condone this."

BioWare has never been ok with cheating, glitching, exploiting, or other means of harming the community, the game, and the fun of playing games in general.

 

We take these issues very seriously.

My statement was not particularly complementary of BioWare. It was simply stating that Billy's statement lines up with my previous experiences, for better or worse. BioWare was unable to ever eradicate the missile glitch from ME3MP, but that's not for lack of trying. Many criticized them for wasting resources on working on the missile glitch rather than fixing other persistent glitches in the game (that were never fixed), and also criticized them for never being able to fix even that one.

 

See, I've voiced a ton of complaints about many games, BioWare's most of all simply because I've played a ton of their games. I've also given credit where it is due. I tend to be, as many have noticed here, to be quite open with my opinions (often to an aggressive level). I also know that everyone here is a person. Something easily forgotten when a person doesn't have to look another person in the face when they spit malicious statements.

 

But I supposed that if I am not jumping on the flavour-of-the-week rage bandwagon, then I must be a suck-up, yeah?

The ME3 leaderboards were more fun because it went beyond 100. Yeah, some of the top ten looked like they were some joint account, but most of the rest seemed legit enough. Having only 100 in DAIMP, I guess too much scarcity might be a bad thing.

 

 

I preferred the ME3 method for promotion as well, because it was strictly for leaderboard rankings. There was no secondary advantage to promoting your character beyond the board: No bonus stats, no extra skill points or anything. 

 

They should have gone with the crafting system from SP straight to MP and limited the schematics based on challenges like the one loading screen keeps taunting us all with. They could have still kept all the primary armor colors and granted secondary color changes based on different materials. If the crafting system was implemented instead of the micro-transaction from Hell system we have then they could have granted proper attribute allocation for weapons and armor thus eliminating the need for attributes connecting to promotions. Alternatively if they were going to inflict micro-transactions on us they could have kept the same system in which whenever you got a weapon you already have you could a.) instantly salvage for parts or b.) increase the base stats of one while eliminating the other (similar to how the weapons leveled in the ME3MP).

Agreed, it's very confusing. I suspect the only solution is to be permanently on BSN hitting refresh.

OT:

Personally, I don't have a horse in this race as I'm not a leaderboarder and never will be. The leaderboards matter not a jot to me. That said, they obviously are important to some people. BioWare are aware of this. Billy has said they're looking into it. Shouldn't that be /thread until a fix is announced?

Cheating is rampant in everything, including real life and online. I for one, am numb to it. Plus I don't need a public board for other people to look it to decide my personal worth. It's not like we are professionals getting paid by our rankings.
