Folks,

I am not asking Bioware to forfeit sleep and fix this by tomorrow. I am asking them to issue a policy on this yesterday on their own thread. I don't care for mixed signals, one stating this is a cheat and not to use it and the other stating we should enjoy it while it lasts. And why should I?

Region-lock Matchmaking is something which has repeatedly been ignored by whoever could be responsible to address it. While I have consistently asked for it to be addressed, I am despondent to say that I have given up on the issue for now, as no sign of hope has appeared.
The XP exploit can be called cheating. It is something else entirely.

Whether you have given up hope or not the fact is the matchmaking is a far bigger issue than someone cheating like this. I doubt the majority of the playerbase even cares about people cheating like this. Afterall it shouldnt have any bearing on you playing and enjoying the gane. You mentioned missile glitching in one of your previous posts, that form of cheating was much worse because it effected you ability to enjoy the game (trying to contend with someone who unlimited missiles is not fun). Missile glitching hasnt been fixed by Bioware despite their attempts and your solution to kick th destroyer doesnt work either simply because the cheaters caught on and started varying the kits they use along with putting on equipment in an attempt to hide their intentions.

Bioware's main priority should be to fix the matchmaking because thats the single biggest detriment to this game and could be a huge problem to Andromeda as well if it is not addressed

Cirvante - no.

Are you really going to diagnose another? Declare what his mind-state is? And whether or not he feels embarrassment?

Space has put a lot of clean, hard work into this game. If I were in his shoes, I would be upset that cheaters are approaching the same rank. (Notice how I did not say how Space felt? He is the only one qualified to say how he feels or what he is obsessed with. Obviously not you.)

Bioware -

The XP glitch stands but the spawn-camp exploit had to go?

I am confused.

Please explain.

I agree. I propose a trade. The double xp glitch for the return of spawn camping. Seems fair right?

I don't know how to feel about all this banter .

From day one this game has had usable "exploits". Many posting on this forum have made use of them while they lasted.

Massive amounts of Will Power could generated by using "one" character over and over and over. Quicker runs were made possible by finding a spamable ability and using it adnaseum. All players exploited the use of the font room in zone 5 even if they didn't hit the font. All those and this too shall go away.

Likewise, everyone that has remained to play the game as it is today delt with many annoying bugs. Some corrected, some new.

How many have spent lots o time getting to zone 5 only to have the Red Temple Commander bug out over and over and over again?

How many beautiful match runs have been scrubbed due to the Key Drop glitch at the door of say zone 3 or 4?     Missing cotton anyone?

The reality of it all is we are not being payed to play this game. This game is Fantasy Entertainment. Thats all it is. The leaderboards are merely a by product of ones time spent playing the game in all its evolving forms. It does not reflect the character of the person holding the controller. Please let us not go into loaded baseball bats or under inflated football stuff. Here me now, believe me later, "We are not getting payed to play this game!."

Maybe I'm being a bit dense here, but there is - in my mind anyway - a minor work around for the exp glitch. If you're worried about promoting too quickly & thus being punished for it when it is fixed, then, don't promote as soon as you hit lv20. If you know roughly how many games it takes to reach lv20 & you're getting there faster, hold off on the promoting button until you've hit the correct number of games. You'll still shoot up the leaderboard when you do promote, but you'll still hold your position 'correctly' for a time.

Just my thoughts.

I had a lobby glitch recently for no apparent reason. It was double exp.

And it is considered a bug by Bioware. You should really read their posts sometimes, it might keep you from embarassing yourself. Claiming that this bug is a bigger issue than game-breaking glitches is ridiculous. I actually welcome it insofar as it shows just how meaningless the leaderboards are (and how pathetic obsessing over them is).

ME3 would routinely drop you into ongoing games and there was no ingame kick funtion. Supposedly there were a lot of public games with people missile glitching on consoles. Once you leave the game, you also lose your equipment. Your view on missile glitching and the key bug seems to be quite naive, yet you're blowing the exp bug way out of proportions due to your unhealthy obsession with your leaderboard rank.

I do not obsess about the Leaderboards nor my rank. We do not play together, we haven't played since ME3. Saying that I am obsessed with my rank is pretty bold. I am sure most people who play with me could give a different testimony but, well, it is not a big deal. The Leaderboards are detested by many, the fact are only a minority of mostly elitists and/or DAMP lovers are part of it makes it worse. I wish they were like ME3 where every single player would be part of, and I have expressed this wish of mine a few times on the forums.

What concerns me about this glitch being abused is the integrity of the Leadeboards. It matters to me, as well as it matters to many players whom I play with. Were the Leaderboards more inclusive, more players would be concerned about this glitch and the way it is/will continue to be exploited.

Still, I welcome different view points on this matter, as negative or indifferent as they might be.

Meh, imo just wipe the leaderboard every couple of months, like what Blizzard does w/ SC2 and D3. Reset everyone's prestige to just whatever star count they have under challenges.

Whenever I run into the double gold I'm like, oh cool, a chance to make up for all that gold I lost buying chests after patch released because they keep having oops-we-forgot-to-push-loot-tables moments.

My main concern is the promotions and not so much the leaderboards. It is a bit offputting to feel that others may be gaining promotions (i.e. getting "stronger") far quicker than myself through glitches/exploits/cheats (whatever players may call them).

You gain far more respect from players by being helpful and a good team player, not by having a position on the leaderboard, although I have competitive fun with a few of my friends by comparing points. I am far from being in the top 100 :)

I have seen a recent influx of new players on the PC and when I host a pug and chat to them I get some enjoyment and a sense of satisfaction by explaining things in the game and advising or directing them to builds and stategies etc.

Having said that it would be cool if the leaderboard actually reflected points that were earned fairly and properly, but that is not, and probably never will be, the case.

The issue lies with your mentality towards this game, your trying to make is competative when it clearly isnt that type of game. Again I will ask the question, how does someone else cheating to promote/earn gold quickly effect your ability to play and enjoy this game? I dislike cheating especially in a co-op game but someone else who cheats this way has no real bearing on your DAMP experience

Because BW could lower the % drop rate on chests for example due to the glitched amount of gold. Tell me that wouldn't affect anyone/everyone?

Don't tell me it won't happen because they adjust that kind of thing easily and a previous post from Dev said certain items would have a higher % each week.

Won't affect me as I don't need anything from chests but no reason newer players should get screwed over.

It can be unintended just like it can be intended. It is entirely down to the player's ethics at this point.  This glitch is to this game what steroids are to sports, but with zero consequences for the users.

Why is it absurd when compared to the missile glitch? It gives more benefits without the trolling side-effect.

The key bug was distressing to some, maybe to many players. But it was not something exploitable. The double (actually quadruple) XP glitch is largely considered cheating. I don't think it is comparable.

None of this even remotely explains how this glitch is harmful to you or anyone else. Your statements comparing it to the missile glitch are flat out false. Your statements regarding the XP glitch are flat out false.

You don't have to, because as you have been repeatedly told, you have not been given mixed signals. No one can explain it better than it has already been explained. If you choose to still be angry about it, it is entirely you being self-absorbed that is the problem. If you would listen to anything you have been told, it would not be an issue.

So you think Bioware would punish the entire playerbase because a small fraction of the playerbase are cheating? Did the dev say the drop rate would be effected by peoplr cheating?Your post is pure speculation and does in no way show how someone cheating effects another players experience to play and enjoy the game.

Still possible, however improbable.

Matchmaking is a huge problem... But they have never addressed it, nor do they comment on any post made about it... So I think they don't plan to do anything about it.

So your suggesting that a great deal of the playerbase are now cheating? If Bioware punished everyone over the actions of the few then that would be development suicide - I cant see it happening personally

But they did address it when it was brought up. I brought it up on more than one occasion and was told it was being looked into. I remember other posters doing the same and getting a very similar message. While their response doesnt guarantee that the problem would be resolved it at least gave me the impression that they were going to try an address it, unfortunatly this doesnt seem to be the case anymore

I am saying we have no idea how many are cheating.  I don't know. You don't know. More and more people will cheat the longer it goes on.  By our very nature people are curious to go find out how something works.

I play on PS4 but I heard of people doing this for months now on XboxOne.

I did see the #1 in a "certain place" for most of Sunday.  Although still not sure how the EXP thing works myself, it did open my eyes to it.

It has got a lot of people talking.

It won't stop me playing the game though.  It is all I have played since January

In this old thread (General dev-fan MP interaction discussion thread) I asked Mr.Schumacher specifically about matchmaking, but it seems that was only damage control.

Ps

I replied to the wrong post ^_^ .

You're right in that it doesn't impact my experience in any direct sense.  I'd be lying, though, if I said it didn't irk me to know that there were some taking advantage of the exploit to get double (or more?) the reward for the same effort.  An accident is one thing -- you can't help that -- but to deliberately "milk" it to repeatedly get the benefit?  Yeah, it nettles me.  What can I say?  I'm competitive by nature.

As pointed out since my initial response:

- Yes, we are aware of the issues being discussed (I figured my profile pic would tip most off)

- Yes, the lobby issue is a bug

- No, we are not ok with exploits, as originally stated (meaning that players that are encountering this, for the most part, are being affected by a bug, not something they are maliciously attempting/provoking on their side

- No, we are not going to discuss any penalties to this at this time (see my original post)

- Yes, Blair (Fiddzz) has already acknowledged the topic in a separate thread, including noting it will be patched out

- Yes, it's Saturday night and Luke and I are in the office...

- Yes, I am hoping to go home very soon so I can return to enjoying playing some matches with everyone :-)

Finally...

- YES.  We understand that the anger or frustration expressed in these threads and forums is the result of your passion.

We're all gamers.  We are all passionate about games, and playing games.  When something is not what we hope for, or expect, we tend to let that passion out.  We want the rest of the world to know that we are upset, frustrated, or angry that something is not what we hoped for, or expected.  We get it.  No worries there.  We do it from time to time too.  We just ask that when you encounter issues, please try to keep it as constructive as possible.  Makes it easier to read, get to the root of the issue, and begin processing what we can or cannot do as a potential reaction, if deemed necessary.

thanks all!

Billy

As Billy says it will need a patch so nothing is going to happen by tonight.
