How? How have you not seen one of the greatest shows of all time?

I just never got around to watching it.

I really should find it as it's got voices like Marina Sirtis and such in it..... I think there's other TNG voices in there too.

So I watched just one episode of Johnny Bravo for nostalgia's sake.

How was this ever meant to be for kids?

No kid will understand just how glorious it is.

Had me in stitches.

If we're throwing in SWAT Cats, we need to throw in Ducktales and Darkwing Duck.

EDIT: Whoops, Ducktales is already there. Oh well, excuse to post best theme song ever.

How can you call this a cartoon thread without Thundercats?

KBRMzAU.png

You apologize to Lion-O right now.

Also...

Doug

Ren & Stimpy

The Triplets of Belleville

Earthworm Jim

Metalocalypse

Edit: and I'll assume that everything from Studio Ghibli falls under Disney or belongs in the anime thread.

What makes Samurai Pizza Cats even more splendid is finding out ages later that for the dub, they just bullshitted the script.

No one resses like this guy

Fixed that for ya >.>

So I finished some new movies, Big Hero 6 and Rio.

Rio was a pleasant surprise do to its premise and the first half of the movie's storyline did very well. Some of the dialogue(Linda/Tulio) came off very awkward and much of the writing feels like your usual CGI-Movie-Where-Famous-Actors-Become-Talking-Animals Schtick. The Favelian atmosphere in terms of visual and audio made it really stand out, though.

Unfortunately the Sequel didn't do it for me >.< If you took Rio, Ferngully, Meet the Parents, threw them in a bartender's shaker and gave it a few spins, you'd have Rio 2. There, I saved you 2 boobless hours. The one thing that I did love in the sequel was this song, which gave me quite a few laughs.

Big Hero 6 was pretty nice. :) It was neat seeing the behind-the-scenes stuff, looks like Baymax on the tech side was inspired by up-and-coming scientific stuffs. The movements of the main characters to something as simple as sitting down were intentionally made distinct based on real-life inspirations - i.e. Hiro's was based on one of the animator's brother's own mannerisms. He'd kick the chair a little bit to nudge it to fit his small size.

Right, the movie. The twist wasn't too hard to figure out, but they drew some smart parallels off it and it felt appropriate. Cool stuff. :)

I still haven't seen Big Hero 6 =/ I want to too, it's really the only animated Disney movie I've cared to see in a long time.

Can't believe I also forgot about Earthworm Jim and Thundercats. I'm not going to say that toons suck now but I think we used to have more awesome ones. I've literally forgotten more goods ones than they have now.

Lord almighty, the list is gonna be around 500 at this rate :P Doing the best I can to update things.

I'm not going to say that toons suck now but I think we used to have more awesome ones. I've literally forgotten more goods ones than they have now.

The more one has experienced, the harder it is to be impressed...but I do agree to a point.

I miss the more Story-Centric ones like X-men/Batman:TAS/Gargoyles. It's hard not to feel like many of them settle for flash over substance. I liked Adventure Time, but most of the stories didn't really resonate with me. The 10-minute Framework has also become more prevalent for televized episodes, which can definitely have an effect on storylining as a whole. It's no understatement that western animation has a strong interest in entertainment value and humor, and it requires a deft writing hand to manage the narrative without having the humor seem contrived.

A Cartoon with a strong story is like an exotic bird, and I appreciate one when I see it.

I still haven't seen Big Hero 6 =/ I want to too, it's really the only animated Disney movie I've cared to see in a long time.

I'd say it's worth the ride - I enjoyed it a good deal more than the average CGI film.
