For a certain boss. You know, big and freaky looking and you make its next spurt blood everywhere in a cutscene after you deplete its health? This is the no-spoilers section, so I need to not truly spoil even if we all know what boss I mean. Anyway, I ask because while mages get to use magic and warriors get to use big sword for doing the kind of injury you do to in in cutscene... Rogues do it with a tiny dagger that I can't even see causing that level of injury, it's basically a toothpick to it. So I want to equip the visually biggest daggers I can that look like they might actually cause the big burst of blood that your attack causes.
Biggest dagger in the game?

As far as length goes they all seem pretty comparable. I have all the recipes for the crafted daggers and have seen most of the drop ones and equipped Cole with them. That said, some daggers have a heavier look than others, even if their overall size is the same. The Snake Blade looks fragile, while Bleeder of Souls and Dagger of the Dragon look sturdier. In light of that I would suggest you just choose whatever you think looks best for the cutscene, if that is important to you.

I like that dragon one... But it's not possible. Deluxe edition only means I can't get it. If it was DLC I could just digitally buy, but...

So... basically you want rogues to equip short swords? Or do you mean great swords? Better yet, why don't we have them equip great swords with two daggers as crossguards?
Honestly, do you know what constitutes as a dagger?

Yeah, this-

But DA has drifted from oversized shortsword-sized daggers since the Crow daggers of DAO.

You can just buy and download it as DLC? Not as a full priced game either? And for the PS3 version? I should buy that after all then.

I am more familiar with Xbox, but it seems to be available on all platforms:You can just buy and download it as DLC? Not as a full priced game either? And for the PS3 version? I should buy that after all then.

Beefier DAO daggers notwithstanding - why not? Rogues could equip swords in DAO. Frankly, that's something they should bring back.

Remember in DAO and DA2 when you stabbed people while wielding axes and zweihanders? Wasn't that a hoot? ![]()
The weapon limitations are a side-effect of implementing relatively complex animations for combat abilities. These animations are a major focal point of the "high impact feel" that DAI abilities aim to achieve.
It's not so simple to just bring them back. They'd have to redesign or expand all the abilities to remove the prominent stabbing in most if not all of their melee forms.
Then they'd have to accommodate animations for one-handed axes and maces since those operate differently than swords.
Then they'd have to either limit the player to dual wielding the same weapon class. If they allowed hybrid wielding, they'd have to make sure the animations line up as well. They'd also have to make sure that it doesn't matter in which hand the weapon is.
Talk about an exponential increase in work..
It would be great if they removed weapon limitations. I just hope they can afford to do it and not have it at the expense of something else such as more abilities.
