EA's (or any VG company's, for that matter) lawyers are smart enough to put the necessary clauses in the ToS that everybody has to click on to launch the software. On the one hand, everybody knows that no one reads the terms and conditions before clicking "I Agree." On the other, it isn't technically a legal excuse, since clicking on something without reading it is still agreeing to the terms.
There's a Red Foreman clause that states you will get banned if you cheat, come onto the official site and allude or admit to cheating, then complain about being punished or banned for outting yourself.
