I think the way (King) Alistair will die (if ever noted/written down in the codex in the next game) is going to give us a good idea whether or not the Theirins (and thus Dragons, at least to a certain degree) were truly resistant to the taint.

Unless the devs are going to troll the **** out of us and get the last Theirin assassinated or he does something stupid and dies by clumsiness. In which case we'll never know.

Either way I'm betting my money on the idea that dragons can have the taint but not be infected. I think the Archdemons only get infected because they're exposed to soooo muuuch taint continuosly for such long periods of time that their body can't isolate the taint from the rest of their body.

Like carrying a virus without actually suffering the effects there of?  Thats an interesting theory.  Considering who the founders of Bioware were...that would make sense, no?  Especially if they are treating it as if it were a bacteria or virus.  Whatever happened to Fiona is certainly something I hope they explore in the future.  Connecting her to the HoF and their quest would be helpful.  Though didn't Alistair state that he was also suffering from the same Calling as the others?  So he still HAS the Taint.  Hmmmm...something to chew on.

I wonder...we've never seen WHERE the Old Gods were imprisoned, right?  What if their lair is FILLED with Red Lyrium?  OR Lyrium that was PREVIOUSLY Red...and their bodies leeched the Blight from it over long periods of time?  Speculation, but...I think if we saw WHERE they come from, it might give us a LOT of answers...

...wait, this is BIOWARE...they just give you more questions... :P

I like Merril, but she's the last person I expect to see have any tangible way of curing the Taint. Morrigan and the Architect are the only characters with the plot weight to do that.

Morrigan and the Architect are overrated while Merril is underestimated.

Where is it said/shown that dragons are resistant to the taint?

Origins/Awakening has multiple appearances of dragons corrupted and controlled by the darkspawn taint. Not to mention the Red Lyrium Dragon in Inquisition.

Or is this resistance exclusive to Great Dragons?

Is just Gaider who loves to contradict himself as usual.

Also when you think about it , one of the ingredient for the Joining is Archdemon's blood .

It might be the thing keeping the Blight from spreading for a couple of decades.

AD blood just improve the potency of the joining, the resistance lies in the non infected blood of the recruited Warden, for the joining the AD drop pf blood is a plus but not necessary

The Dalish Warden's blood was infected. As was Bethany/Carver's.

The AD blood sounds like a major factor in the resistance.

I forget who said it, but I recall somebody saying "the blood of dragons is the blood of the world" and Stenashok said the Old Gods were to dragons what kings are to ordinary men. If the Blight originates from the Void, something outside and opposed to the world, then that could be why they are resistant to it.
