I sense a very high probability of space magic making a comeback in ME:A.   :P

The real question is: How contrived is the space magic going to be?  It's seems like a very safe bet that we'll have biotics and eezo, so that already takes care of some of it.  Does it stay within suspension of disbelief, or is it going to be turned up to 11 and go into the realm of suspension of insanity?

Spoof thread or not, I've actually been a little curious about what some opinions are on the subject.   ;)

Maybe we can do more this time around with Biotic....beside Lifting..and sending a shockwaveeeeeeeeeeeeee...wich was boring.

space Magic..huh?

Maybe we get special Armor that have powers ? biotic powers I mean..

Super Jump for exemple ....or like charge..you could use your biotic to run faster..or slow down your fall or something?

I'd like to see that, actually.  We know that it's definitely possible (Samara does it when you first meet her in ME2 and again in ME3, as well as Felare (pretty sure I misspelled her name) and Liara in LotSB), but I want to know if it's just an Asari thing or if any biotic can do it.

As for the jump, it seems like we're getting jetpacks in ME:A, so using biotics to do that might not be needed.  Not sure about the speed boost, though....

I think its all about training and I think if one train they could all do it . Sure we saw  Vasir do it...and she fall from a building .

So I like to think anyone can do it . Humans probably are still....not that advanced in Biotic seeing how there is a stigma attached to it and problems with Implants and how rare they are to begin with . Vs Asari who are born with it , accept it as breathing and have it integrated in their school as a teaching class.....the gap is Huge .

Well maybe we won't float down like Samara did...as beautiful it was....if I play a vanguard...I wanna go Butch and smack down instead

Well.......... there are quite a few non-Asari biotics who can teleport short distances (N7 Fury, N7 Slayer, and Turian Cabal in ME3 MP), so I'm not sure if it's exactly safe to say that humans aren't as advanced in biotics as other races (barring the Asari, of course, but they've been able to study it for thousands upon thousands of years).  Still being to slow the speed of your fall in ME:A would be pretty cool.  Not to mention the fact that I'd like to be able to teleport like the Fury, Slayer, and Cabal if I play as a biotic.   :P

Qué? I never touched the MP..so..I'm going with what I was able to get from Single player experience

well unless they give us Jet pack? That would be a waste of potentiel..but would be hilarious if they do it fallout 1 style lol ya need eezo to fill the Tank lol and ya end up hunting for that so you can go Weeeeeeeeee again for a few minute

The N7 Fury is an Adept and the N7 Slayer is a Vanguard, as is the Turian Cabal (remember what Nyreen said about the Cabal units in the Omega DLC for ME3?).  They can teleport short distances, whether it be through walls, enemies, over gaps, or what have you.  It used up your barriers, so you could only use it so many times before you had no more barriers left, leaving you vulnerable to health damage.  Kind of annoying, but it was useful for avoiding damage and moving quickly to new areas of the battlefield.

Not sure about that, but I could see it possibly happening.  Or maybe it'll end up being an ability that has a significant cooldown.  Hmm......

Similar, yeah.

There's a lot of awesome abilities in ME3 MP that never made it to SP.  Recon Mine, Biotic Sphere, Shield Boost, Flamer, Tactical Scan, Annihilation Field, Devastator Mode, Hawke Missle Launcher, Multi-Frag Grenade, Biotic Orbs, Smash, Dark Sphere, Stimulant Pack, Havoc Strike, Ballistic Blades, Homing Grenade, Submission Net, Cain Trip Mine-- I could go on.

Granted, we get Flare and Dominate from Omega and Leviathan, but there are a lot of abilities in ME3 MP I wish we could get in SP.  No such issues with the weapons, though.   :P

Yeah, but it's only 2.  As opposed to the many abilities that people who never played ME3 MP never got to experience.  Still don't get to use them in SP, but at least you can use them in MP.

Anyway, I think we should get back to talking about space magic.   :P

Hum...

Space Magic .

How about weapons powered by eezo ?

Or maybe we will find ruins of an unknown civilization and gain new powers . Or meet new alien who have powers they could teach us .

They have toothbrushes with ME fields.  I can see eezo-based weapons happening, especially by 2380 or whenever ME:A takes place.

I don't think suspension of disbelief is really the main issue. For me the main question is what purpose does the Space Magic serve?

In Star Wars, the Force enables individual characters to do heroic things. Their personal struggles can be played out in an adventure film to blow up an evil tyrant's superweapon, because self discovery ties into how the Force works. It's never used as a substitute for a character taking action to solve a conflict. The Force is a means to have a character drama with space swashbuckling space samurai with space magic and space dogfights against space Nazis, in space.

What I find is a problem is when the Space Magic becomes the conflict resolution. There's a made up problem (Daleks, Reapers) and then after flapping around for a while there's a made up solution (Reverse the polarity, Synthesis). Which seems like a waste of time to me, as made up science happening can only be so cool and it makes for a pretty weak story.

Biotics are cool, so they don't bother me that much but I don't think it would hurt the setting at all to cut them out.

Still being to slow the speed of your fall in ME:A would be pretty cool.  Not to mention the fact that I'd like to be able to teleport like the Fury, Slayer, and Cabal if I play as a biotic.   :P

With jetpacks supposedly being a thing I'm hoping traversal mechanics become something everyone gets. There's a lot of cool things biotics should be able to do.

Well now I just have an image of flying around on a jet pack and lifting baddies with biotics and swatting them around like biotic volley ball.

I apologize that I have nothing to add to this thread other than that I blame part of that on Mess Perfect 2

Andromeda has a lot of black holes, and a lot of black holes mean a lot of supernovae happened. And a lot of supernovae means a lot of eezo. There could be all of the Space MagicTM ever. Biotic plant life would be cool.

It also makes you sterile.

The term 'space magic' when use normally means that the person using it has a vision of how things are supposed to be and since they are not and they don't like it the concept being discussed is space magic.  If pressed on their thoughts 995 of the time anything they suggest could also be viewed as space magic.

I don't see a problem with "space magic."  I mean, as long as it is not ridiculous.  After all, this is a science fiction, game.

Space magic is fine as long as it's not a part of "art".

If you have space magic and "art", run away, very fast.

Perhaps a special guest appearance would spice (Kessel) things up.
