Playing as something other than human?

I know it's already been confirmed that ME:A has a human protagonist and that's very unlikely to change, which is fine I'm not really asking for that to be changed for ME:A. What I am curious ever if in future Mass Effect games if that would become an option and if there may be a demand for it. If you would like to be able to play as something other than human what species would you like to be able to choose from? How many choices do you think would be reasonable to give us if such a thing were to happen?

EDIT: I would personally like to see at least some of the 'major' species become playable especially Krogan and Turian oh and Drell. I don't think we may get anything other than three alien species though I'm only basing this off of racial selection in DA but DA only has four races so maybe if implemented it would be different for ME, which honestly I hope so.

Humm..wich is a shame :P

Anyway , ....one thing that I would like to see...and was hoping to see brushed in Swtor (MMO Star Wars) . Is Humans Jedi/Sith having Alien Master . Its like always Human..get human boss . Alien get Alien boss....

I would love to see a human with an asari Boss or a Turiant boss and break that tension and akwardness of 'we dont have the same brain' or watever .

I wanted to play as an Asari to be honest . I dont play MP...so I never saw if we could there or not .And even if we could...I'm so not into MP .

But yeah Asari is the dream for me . Asari background , lore...speech....Armor..weapons..ability........

Hum...If I could choose...I say female Turiant would be a 2nd choice .

And if they made something like this...maybe they stick to 3 or 4 ?

I would like to play as a Drell or Krogan.  As for number of choices, more or less the same as ME3 multiplayer.  Even having the same race come from different factions was cool.

How many choices are in ME3MP? I am unable to even look at it due to freezing issues when being online, which is why I ask.

I think it'd be neat. but it's not that high up on my list of demands/wants for ME:A.  That said, playing as a Drell or Quarian does sound like fun.

Considering how close Shepard himself become to androids after his technological revival, I suppose an android like that one controlled by EDI is an option too. And she even used to look like a human.

Salarian. Or Volus.

I'd also say Elcor but the Volus is far more likely due to bodyshape alone.

Still, would be great.

Yes, I'd love this. I was quite sad when I heard you can't be alien in ME:A, Mass Effect has so many intresting alien races, even some new one's and we are stuck with human? Oh well.

I'd like most to play with Drell or Turian, but I'd likely try out every alien race.

I would love to be able the option to play as an alien rather than being stuck with only human. Considering the events, it not being an option in Mass Effect: Andromeda is a huge missed potential.

As for races, I wouldn't expect more than the Council races if they did this. Or the races that have the same body as humans(Asari, Batarians, and Drell) since the animation would be a lot easier since they'd run on the same skeleton. If they were able to add more, I'd love that.

i think you may be right about the Council races being the other choices which while I'd be happy to just play as anything other than human again I think I'd like a little more like Krogan, Drell, Batarian. Course I don't expect it to stray from non humanoid looking aliens though I think asking otherwise would be a touch unreasonable. Though so may be asking for all the humanoid aliens to be playable but not going to stop the little part of me holding out hope for it.

I would take a Batarian.

They are ugly as sin, but I would enjoy playing an Anti-Villian for a change. (We are often restricted to Hero, Anti-Hero or Psychopath, but Anti-Villian? Can´t remember one.)

But races in ME won´t happen. To do them justice the devs would have to write comletaly different dialog options. It´s another thing with DE:Inquistion were the different races evolved within the same invironment (mostly), but in ME?

It´s a hell of a difference if one choses to play as Krogan or as a Salarian or Quarian.

Krogan, all the way.  Particularly a female one.  I know the lore reasons why it's very unlikely, but if Eve is an example of the ladies, then I'd love to play as one.  :D

Yep, I'm officially as nuts about the Krogan as I am about DA dwarves.  :P

You are sadly right, I guess it depends little on the alien races and how they different they are, but if  there was choice of Krogan and Salarian those would likely need own VA's cause the speech pattern is so different too. Or at least all dialogue done twice.

...We used to spend a lot of time talking in Varric's thread and in the Lady Inquisitor ad thread.  I never shut up about dwarves and they'll always be my favorite race in DA.  However, thank you sal'roka.   :D

I'd love it if we could play an alien in a future ME game, but where the story is tailored to which you pick. They could all have the same background/mission (e.g they're a Spectre), but can resolve it differently, receive different options. Maybe if you're investigating an asari colony, the asari government gets in touch and wants you to hush everything up. Maybe a salarian could find out more info via a salarian science-team or a turian could get some military back-up.

All good.  I've been running a fever, which I rarely do and I'm on some killer antibodics, so I totally understand.  :P

Different races are only interesting to play if there's story to play and lore to play. Otherwise, there's not much point, other than having a different looking avatar. I don't mind being restricted to a human, I had plenty of fun with Shepard.

Honestly, this is the best answer. It's why choosing your race in Elder Scrolls very inconsequential aside from the initial stat bonuses some races have. Hardly is it ever pointed out that you're a Nord or Dunmer, aside from very few dialogues and NPC comments, but in the end, it doesn't matter.

With Shepard and the human prejudices, I felt more of a struggle being human. Of course, that was more early on, it almost felt the opposite later.

The Reaper Chronicles DLC? :D

That would've been nice to have for ME3.

In London you play as one of the uglies and see Shepard exiting the shuttle only to be killed a short time later. Then switch to another ugly only to be killed a short time  later. Then gain control of the destroyer and be destroyed. Then gain control of Harbinger and fly down to London. Once on the ground, start firing at everyone. The player kills Shepards squadmates and just before Shepard makes it to the beam, you fire and kill Shepard. The cycle continues. Or as Harbinger you fire at the Normandy destroying it. The cycle continues.

It would be like the darkspawn chronicles dlc
