I haven't seen this general level of pissiness since the key bug was in full swing. Debs are probably relieved we're putting bulls eyes on each other instead of them.

Who needs a cat-generated perpetual motion machine? We have threads about the leaderboard and now threads about threads about the leaderboard.

Excuse me while I go start a thread about threads about threads about the leaderboard. This is serious stuff, people!

Said it before and I'll say it again - my favorite part of DAMP is the forum!

As for this part it is not the leaderboard that creates drama, it is people that create it and people can create drama anywhere and at anytime if they so desire. While you could try to indirectly blame the leaderboards for this, they are just numbers, and as long as they stay numbers there is no drama. However, eventually we meet someone on a leaderboard either directly via a game or on the forums, etc. and then personalities get involved.

I think if there were no leaderboards, there wouldn't be leaderboard drama, and this forum would be short by about at least a dozen threads  ;) Not saying it's impossible but, it's harder to rabble-rouse over something that doesn't exist than it is over something that does.

I understand what you are saying, but even the people who say they don't care about leaderboards actually care about them or someone on them or how they impact the game. Otherwise if they truly didn't care then they wouldn't even expend the energy to post a comment on it, let alone have any kind of open dialogue. When someone truly does not care about something they just ignore it and focus on something else.

This forum has been filled with threads about the same issue for the past week. The people who post in them are mostly the same too because you are right, the people who really don't care are not going to contribute. It's so boring.... however, I found some of the zinger posted pretty funny and I'm filing them away for future use  :P

This board needs more emoticons. I think this is the most serious issue we have come across so far and no one has made a thread about it!

Of course it matters you sound totally foolish when you make statements like this.

MP games have had score boards for years.

This mp game has a scoreboard, thus it matters.

If you want to preface comments by saying it doesn't matter to me and a number of other people and in my opinion they don't serve a purpose then by all means. Absolutes like the the you posted make you look like a dolt.

N7 meant nothing in ME3MP. Challenge points did mean something since the best players could rack them up faster than others. Same goes for any 'high score' leaderboard.

N7 score and prestige in daimp have no meaning because its soley dependant on how much time you invest, and has no reflection of how good you are as a player. If you want proof of this just check out medallians gameplay. Very average player but is number 1 because he plays for over 11 hours a day.

In short, leaderboards that have meaning have the best player or the person with the highest score at the top. Leaderboards which are ranked based on how much time you have invested is completely meaningless, since the person with the most free time wins.

For me difference between current state of leaderboard and just "you played this game xxx hours" is just too small.
Yes, more coordinated approach can earn the same amount of promotions in less time but it still isn't something important.

In theory even, someone purely going with PuG games could be even "better" player in general because you need to deal on PuG matches with several problems, like lag, newbies, bad players, bad builds, not efficient xp gaining and many many many more.
In setup party made for some way of promotion farm everything should be at least prepared and those problems shouldn't exists.

In terms of the glitches and etc. just look at the leaderboard progression today, it is absolutely dead, lol only people promoting are the ones who are doing the old fashion way, grinding.
Back to the thread point, I have talked to people who said they wanted to get on the leaderboard as a goal, I have seen those who did and stop as soon as they got there. There are others who are die often because they did more challenges and promoted through threatening levels, some players are actually surprised by this, there are3 some who only promoted and play very difficult levels because of the promotions. No one said leaderboard is proof of great playing skills, or invincible promotions. In PS3 the bottom of the leaderboard is very evident in this, some are squishy some are not.

Having said that it is what it is to different players so let it be. People who are casual don't have to pay attention to it unless they want to know names of some of the players, players who want to target it can see what they need to do, some people who want their name on it fine, it is there. Vitriol I mention is so prevalent anytime the word "Leaderboard" comes up you have to wonder if a group of leaderboarders acted out in the forum to earn such animosity. So discussion of it directly to see if it is reactive response from those who hate any rankings of any sort and want to give everyone a trophy or from those who want are so competitive they want to rage against being late to game or not having the time to play or simply want to troll for self serving pleasures. I don't believe majority of the casual or addicted player community cares. It seems to be same group of BSNers who are leading the charge in my observations.

The only Leaderboards I play attention closely to is the PC one and it is anything but dead. People are moving up quite fast. Just to illustrate, one friend of mine decided to quit the game just over a week ago, and he has gone down about twenty, maybe twenty-five positions already, and since the bottom is where it moves faster, he will probably be out of the Leaderboards in a few more days.
Also, since there are those who have earned 40+ points per day, possibly, just possibly there is more than just old fashion grinding there.
The Leaderboards is certainly not an indicator of skills. If it were, I wouldn't be where I am there. And if it indicates anything, it is probably one's mere dedication and commitment.

I wish there were an universal Leaderboards which included all players, everyone who plays the game. I have mentioned this a number of times on the forums. There is vitriol partly because there is segregation.

I have heard this proposed as perpetual motion machine to harness an infinite power source, but never as a doomsday device.

Why do you think they scratched the idea? It was way too dangerous, if terrorists get their hands on those specimens we'd be doomed!

On a side note, I heard rumors it could be the very script for the next 24 season. Jack Bauer will save us all!

I think we're going to have to come up with a DAMP character to play the protagonist, if we have any hope of keeping this in the general ballpark of being on topic.

I nominate Luka for the Jack Bauer role. But you all knew I was going to do that.

how can promotions = time spent when it can take new players longer to promote, specially depending on the difficulty they play and the friends or static they have, dont feel time spent is to accurate over all.....

I didn't mention accuracy, it is what the data reflects

Couple of things, I was being facetious about the PS3 Leaderboard being dead. It is just that the unreal 40-50 jumps have stopped, so I guess BW post had its effect and seems that people have abused it. I just thought it was funny.

I agree that it would be more informative if all the boards were combined but it may create more competitive environment for a minority (I hope) that would engage in epeen competition. LOL it is reflection of who we all are so we cant escape totally into this gaming world.

You have posted multiple threads multiple times on this. I don't believe people even disagreed with you much. Leaderboard isn't a accurate reflection of any skill or even capability. It reflects dedication weather you play within or skirt the rules. Having said that, why do you haunt the threads to repeat the same with so much vitriol? Why does it bother you so? Does letting whoever wants to discuss it irks you so? If so can you limited to those threads or posts where the foolish posters preen their leaderboard status?

Probably correct there would be lil less threads if no leaderboard. However, the forums are a social place so there will always be some drama as some like that aspect of the forums no matter the topic. I'd just like to see more positive threads about things we like and how we can improve on an overall great game. I loved ME3 multiplayer, but I've put twice as much or more hours into DAMP because of the promotion system and lots of people who post in the forums have also played this game a ton so I don't understand why things need to be phrased "what I hate about DAMP" etc.

Oh and yes more emoticons and there are some nice zingers from time to time and people that deserve them.
