There would indeed be far less threads if there were no leader boards and or challenges, there would also be far fewer players.

I find it interesting that some of the same people that beef about lack of people and match's also like to diss score boards, challenges and such.

This game simply does not have enough variety of environs, play modes, maps, etc to keep people happy and having fun without a specific goal to achieve.

I would think the same group of people would find something else to be just as passionate about for and against.

I'll never sniff the leaderboards, so it doesn't matter for me, yet I can see how it matters to some. The few people I've met on the leaderboards are nice and really good--they didn't cheat to get where they are. I look at it this way--if you're keeping score, it matters, and the people who didn't legit get there shouldn't be on the boards.

I would rather not be on the leaderboards as of late. I'd prefer to just promote how and when I can to get stronger. Lately the leaderboards have become a source of fuel for some to demand justice in the form of punishment. For me the leaderboards are a by-product. For others a magnifying glass to seek out and convict others.

I play this game due to the hilarious fun and up till now light heartedness I have enjoyed with several people both on and off the leaderboards. Just recently I was in a match with people I have gamed with before and politics of a nature and then talk of punishment for said "cheaters" began.

I have never lost my cool ever in this game. I did this time and I have heard a lot of rude crap being tossed around before this. I found myself making insane comparisons to the real world and trying to emphasize that theres already enough crap and haters in the real world. It came out all wrong and I feel a lesser person for it. I let another persons conviction for this game and the leaderboards get my goat! For that display I am truly sorry. Just the same, the demand for justice would cut a wide swath of the games community. Some of that community has picked me up after a crappy day in the land of what really matters.

Not sure if this has been reported anywhere yet since I stopped reading all the Leaderboard topics a few days ago, but I can confirm the double exp/gold glitch is possible on PS4 as well. I stumbled upon a lobby just this morning.

If you don't have at least 90 in each stat and have 250 perilous the board should not recognize anyone.

Stop telling about the xp lobbys. Go tattle somewhere else. Bioware owes lobbys like that.

The players who are creating the glitched lobbies on purpose with the intent to gain double exp must go. I know of a player on xbox1 who has gained 115 promotions over the past 9 days by creating his own glitched lobby.

Coffbear7,

This game was set up with a certain accomplishment goal in that one had to work at all the promotions to get to the point of being able to play at higher difficulties. Call it a grind, if you will. The reward is people can then play the higher difficulties. Now people can churn this out in a few weeks? The game just imploded. I'm glad people can see the fun in it, but the work I put in is now meaningless. There is no shared experience.

I respect your post. Thank you for keeping it clean and without insult.

I can only hope you don't disagree with my entire post. Quoting Aristotle was a nice touch in trying to emphasize the severity of your frustration. Personally I did not set out playing the Multiplayer component of DA:I to aquire a place on the leaderboards. I didn't even realize I had until someone I was matched with pointed it out to me. I was more interested in the co-operative game play aspect that so many of the run and gun style of games seem to lack in my opion.

I have nothing to personally gain by being number whatever on the leaderboard. Maybe some do. There in lies the rub. I have spent time mulling over the importance leaderboard integrity holds for some people. I am not an inhuman animal. I realize for some people the leaderboards and their place on it means everything to them. I don't want to see the PS3 community shreaded for coveted places on a leaderboard. I apologize. Quote anything you wish but I've seen enough bad crap in my day to realize this is not even on the same wavelength.

Nice reply. I understand what you are saying but at this point the leaderboard shows me just how rampant the cheating is at the moment. This is what is irking me to no end. A player I had flagged for cheating was at 959 prestige yesterday and is now at 983 this morning. This said player plays with a group of players who continue to create glitched lobbies and have no repercussions for it. Word travels fast on the xbox1 community and it is fracturing us. I know of seven players who have quit the game several days ago because they felt Bioware was not doing enough to end the cheating.

Bottom line, the leaderboard for me right now points to the proof on how bad people are abusing the glitched lobbies and it has been several weeks of zero recourse on Bioware's part to put a stop to it. I want all the unearned promotions expunged from everyone's journal. I am getting to the point of leaving this game too. I do not want to play in an environment where cheating is a daily occurrence and nothing is done to correct the issue.

Seems like the leaderboard players are getting fractured over this glitch, hope it is fixed sooner than later.

Hmmm, let me see,

Leaderboards trivialized by rampant XP exploit.

Absurdly low drop rates for the highest weapons.
(Unless you played immediately after their launch, in which case the drop rate was great, which in turn makes the current situation even worse)

I wonder if the player base is expanding?

If this bug didn't affect the leaderboard, everyone would use it all the time, hands down.

Didn't sees any furor over people exploiting past and current ability glitches like static cage ring.

Don't see people complaining about some other small glitches I won't mention here since I know LukeShake sees and hears all.

I guess when it affects the leaderboard all sense goes out the window and the camp ham hits the fan.

the drop rate in the first days was 5% not better than it is now. I did about 30 to 40 runs and got 0 items in the first few days.

I would think people with a lot of people on friends list would also have had the glitch effect them. Leaderboard shows who has what so it is easier to which of your neighbors do the exploit and who doesn't. Also I have friends who are actively disagreeing with each over the use of the glitch.

Yes this is the same with me as well. I have around 30 or more super active DAMP players on my friends list and there are some who use the xp glitch, and others who refuse to use it. It has also become apparent that the players not on the leaderboard make up the bulk of the group using the glitch, but I agree the leaderboard is the easiest place to see the players who are using it.

I'm not a saint, and I did find myself in an 2x lobby once super early when we thought it was some random event and not something anyone could recreate. I was only in the lobby for a few games and I did not initially think much of it. I have a feeling there are a lot of people like me, who had a similar experience and I would gladly give up any xp earned in this manner if it would fix the issue and stabilize the DAMP community again. Yumi mentioned that everyone would do the 2x lobbies if there were no leaderboard, but I still feel there are lines that most people don't want to cross. I don't auto cancel, I don't stealth auto crit, I don't Virt infinite mana, I have not used any character glitches other than maybe trying something out of sheer curiosity once. I can't say I'm more honest than others because while I don't like to do things that I feel are cheating, a big reason why I don't do these things is because I don't enjoy the mechanics behind it.

One of the most fun times I have had with DAMP was during the double xp weekend, for the enjoyment of Revenants everywhere, the random spawns, and because I really felt rewarded for grinding with the extra experience. Double xp is intoxicating in a way, and the community is a little starved for more content at the moment. Nightmare difficulty is great, the new loot was very welcome, and having a reason to farm Dragons again was nice. However, no new enemies, no new maps, no new characters, and few able to compete in heartbreaker make for players looking for anything to spice up the grind. Then you have the smaller group of players who actually put in way more hours into this game than most ever will, and some of them see players who are now passing them up in promotions due to the glitch, and it's like a slap in the face.

Sure this is just a game, and someone else using the glitch should not affect your own enjoyment, but it can and it does for a lot of people. Wither your on the leaderboard or not has little to do with it as I have spoken with several people not on the boards, and the ones not using the glitch are just as upset for the most part as anyone in the top 100 because they too value the time it took to get where they are at. The leaderboard gets a bad rap most of the time because usually a lot of the players on the boards are some of the most vocal on the forums, as they have invested the most in this game.

I know a lot of people are on BioWare's case now too, and I admit that they could have handled things better, both from a communication standpoint and from gameplay/fix standpoint. However, they have addressed the issue in their own way, and eventually the problem will be resolved. I think some extra clarification would have been nice, but I also feel there is enough information to establish a guideline until the issue is resolved. The key in prior posts comes down to the word "Abuse" for me. So what is abuse?

We know the glitch can be player created. This is abuse in my opinion

Actively looking to join a glitch lobby. This is abuse in my opinion

Staying in a glitched lobby for an excessive amount of time. This is abuse in my opinion

Pressuring others to glitch or stay as lobby leader in order to keep the glitch. This is abuse in my opinion

I do not feel it is abuse if you randomly end up in a glitched lobby.

I do not feel staying in said lobby for a few games is abuse either.

However, what constitutes excessive is the grey area and I am not sure where you draw the line. All this being said I wish no one would use these lobbies, just as I wish I had never had my limited experience with it. I don't want a bunch of people banned, as I don't think that really helps anyone, but I don't know if the Dev's can just figure out the erroneous xp players earned and vaporize it, but I'd like that outcome better. Still my gut tells me little to no action will be taken, and as a community we just need to suck it up and focus on ourselves. Hopefully friendships are not ruined over this, but some probably will be or have been. I think the Dev's really do not want players "Abusing" this glitch, and maybe that means some discipline will occur, but more players will either leave or start glitching the longer this problem exists and it will continue to divide a community that up until a couple weeks ago was mostly on the same page and one of the better gaming communities I have ever been a part of.

This post is not meant to judge the character of individuals who participate in the 2x lobbies, but it is meant to bring some clarity to your actions. In Golf I respect that players will typically call out their own mistakes even if it costs them a tournament, and that is with their lively-hood on the line. There are a lot of cool people that play DAMP or post on this forum, and it would be a shame if this issue causes the game to suffer as I really want to keep playing DAMP for a lot longer with the same fun community that has kept me interested for over 1,200hrs as that is super rare for me with most games.

The issue is when do we as players draw the line in regards to all the rampant double xp exploiting that is going on? I really hope biow are does something to bring back integrity to damp, because as of right now it's almost 1 out of every 3 pug matches I happen to hop into that is glitched. Unfortunately, I've seen some top five guys on the leaderboards taken advantage of this.

In b4 someone tell me it's ok for us to do this since its a pve and it's ok since its in the game, and it's allowed since its still not patched.

When do players and the bsn community for once, draw the line and say, 'it's not ok", to jump 30-40 promotions in one day whereas players in the past had to grind a week to do so?

I'm surprised no one has brought up this angle. Prestige and the leaderboards are a measure of your contribution to the Inquisition. You are judged by how many challenges or tasks you have accomplished, how many promotions you have gained within the Inquisition. It is a measure of your fame within the ranks.

Pilots are judged by how many flight hours they have not by who is the "most skilled." Skill is subjective and partial. At the end of the day, experience/dedication is the only broad measure that is useful especially for large military organizations.

Now I just wish there was some added perk or recognition, like dinner with Cassandra or Cullen to signal the fame of some of our highest agents. I think personally slaying probably a million or so demons/venatori/red templars rivals the accomplishments of the Inquisitor and the leaders of the Inquisition.
