Did the F2P Multiplayer brought a wave of new players to the game?

This is purely anecdotal, or course, but it seems that way. I've certainly seen a lot more clearly new players (no banner/title, inquisition weapons, default armor) in PUGs lately than I had for quite a while.

I have a feeling that the whole free trial thing was testing the water for the financial viability of making MP F2P in future titles, assuming the microtransactions sell well enough to sustain the model.

From my limited sample pool, there are new people popping in for sure. Seen a lot of starter gear and early trips to the fade in perilous. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, but if you go down 3 times in zone 1, you should probably consider building up your stash o' stuff a bit further down the ladder and will be asked to leave once we're back in the lobby. Not kicking a newbie mid-game just for being new.

^ yeah, there are a bunch of newbies trying out difficulties that are waaayyy beyond them - sort of frustrating but understandable on the other hand

I've downloaded the PC version because of the MP and i've been playing it for a bit ever since. Best part of starting over: Almost every chest has some gear in it you actually want. Being happy with a level 9 sunless staff for your keeper. Finding an armour upgrade in a chest and being able to go in to threatning matches(lol).
Honestly, i'm havinh more fun playing as a low level noob on the PC then i have playing on the PS4 where spending ****** 100K of gold on chests nets me nothing but salvage. 12 staves of the dragon is enough. Please make it stop.

I grabbed PC trial to encourage my friend to join up.
Been playing a ton of keeper/virtuoso to grind out some gear and earn a banner to wash off the noob label a bit.
Having Threatening be a challenge again, especially with all the new players is kind of fun.
On PC the other day, I met an amazing veteran Virtuoso who raced through doing Power Chord on everything and laying total waste because we were all being good little team mates and stacking on him for his 400% damage bonus. (Hi Gonkyv)
Those were some amazingly fast and fun clears for mostly a group of pug noobs!
That night I went and researched Power Chord builds and then headed to my PS4 all inspired, dumped my support Virtuoso and ran him up the battle tree destroying all the things trying to bop between PC for offence and Mark of the Rift for defense. I tried to keep up at least slivers of barrier as I went. So thanks PC for teaching me some new songs!
See you in game as Thermight.
PS - I don't like that on PC there doesn't seem to be a way to find "Player's I've met" to friend them or at least say Thanks for the runs. Am I missing something in the Origin client?

No, you have not. The friend function for Origin is really primitive.

I doubt, searching for Perilous game on non-peak time still ends up in my own lobby.
Those new players probably installed the game, play one or two games, get frustrated by bugs/lag, then uninstall or just continue with the 6 hours of singleplayer.
The problem is netcode of this game, whether it's free or not doesn't really matter.

I hope it brought more players. But unless the Matchmaking issues get addressed, the players we get to see/be matched with will only be a fraction of how many there are.

It's a bit late at night and I've had a little to drink, so maybe I'm seeing things, but is... is your avatar the Twin Towers after being struck by the planes? ![]()

There are new players, but I don't now if they'll stick with DAIMP.
Truth is, the community isn't friendly and the itself game isn't friendly enough for new players. Yes, even now after all the changes. Equipment progression is a mess, especially for those starting. Also, most of our old farts play in locked lobbies, don't help out those starting* or mid players that don't have what it takes to carry an entire team of "noobs". This creates a stress in both, making the mid player reach out for a group and the newbie quit.
At least, this is how it's in my zone.

Blew up the picture larger. Definitely appears to be the twin towers blowing up.

Looks that way to me... And having a username "Thermight", a play on words for "thermite", an incendiary agent... Putting those together, I'm going to have to go with llandwynwyn's response:
Girl, this is bsn, tasteless people are everywhere.
