hi everyone,

I tripped over a weird but pretty nice glitch today in the MP on PS3.

My templar was lv 19 with nearly 35000xp, missing only about 2100 for the 37000 to get to lv 20, so I thougt
"Let's play a private match on perilous and only clear zone 1, then intentionally die on zone 2. This should be enough to promote her."

I gained roughly about 2700xp, 600 more than I initially needed and after I promoted her, she was immediately lv2 with 100xp already gained in the lv.

So the "over lv 20" xp, which usually disappears into noman's land, seemed to be carried over to her next promotion, leaving me with a big "WTF just happend" face.

I tried to reproduce the glitch with my lv 19 archer, to see if it's actually a new thing Bioware patched into the game, but of course it didn't worked a second time, which leads to the conclusion, that it was a only one time happening glitch.

I think the idea of carrying over the "over lv 20" xp to the next promotion is great, since the earlier, lower lvs of almost any class are kind of boring, sometimes even annoying. For some classes, it really takes some time before you can play it effectively (like the assassin, who almost needs lv 16 or 17 to be fun to play), but this will lead to the fact, that no one will play on the lower difficulties anymore, skipping routine and threatening and only play on perilous and above, which higher promotion players do anyways.

So I want to know, if anyone else experienced a similiar promotion glitch, since I've never heard about anything like that in my countless of hours MP playtime.

I think I did actually have this happen with my Duelist recently.  After promoting her iirc she had 2 points to spend, to my smiling surprise.  Only happened that once though and I have not seen this on any other characters recently promoted.

Same on my duelist. I didn't even give it a second thought because I thought it might be related to proven grounds which I frequent on my arcane warrior. Since it can be easily reproduce, non-issue?

That happened to me once a while ago, promoted my Legionnaire and afterwards he was lv 2 half-way to 3. Don't know how or why it happened but I wasn't going to question it ;).

I agree.  As mentioned by other BSNrs in other threads, ay extra XP beyond 20 should carry over after promotion.

Not really practical if someone is level 19 and playing Nightmare.  When they promote will probably be level 16 again straight away.

If this does come about in some shape or form then the best way would be the "merit point" system from FFXI.  You calculate how much EXP if would take a level 1 to reach level 20 (or you make it higher since people will be farming Nightmare on a level 20)

When someone earns that amount you get 1 point to spend on an attribute.

Once you reach a certain level (eg. 50 / 100 / 150 ) promote/merit would eventually costs more than 1 point.

It was a great system and no shame in bringing it to DAMP.... IF..... the community insists on such a change.
