People associate. When I had a female character as my avatar years ago on the BSN a few people were defending me in a debate/argument saying things like, "Leave her alone!"

For some reason everyone here knows my gender even tho I don't remember being explicit about it. I guess being Xavier has that effect.
When I go to the on-topic forums I think my anime girl avatars confused some people.

The newest BSNer that I voice chatted with is Voxr. And we owned that game of AoE. Thus Recon lost and proceeded to spam us with inappropriate photos of Luna.
I think voice chat is a rather liberal description. More like I spoke about 4 times then died.
