In my world of DA2 I had Hawk Marry Merrill. In my play through of DA:I he has done nothing but bag on blood-magic. It's really out of character, and constantly makes me not feel the game, as My Hawk believed self-control in sacrifice made the Blood-Magic Just.
Hawk Makes no Sense for the experience he has in my World.

I feel you op, that really pissed me off on my first playthrough. I'm actually replaying da2 right now just to make a Hawke that hates blood magic and the Grey Wardens.
Though I guess after Revan we shouldn't be surprised. I just hope they don't bring back the Warden... ![]()

You cannot "marry" Merrill. You are in a commonlaw relationship with her, though.
There is some cut dialogue that indicates Hawke's opinions on blood magic finally soured after his/her experience with Orsino. And if you really think about it, blood magic did nothing but cause grief for Hawke and everyone around him.

Shouldn't Hawke always have some small amount of respect for blood magic since Malcom Hawke used blood magic to help keep Corypheus sealed?
Also, the vocal opposition to blood magic could be chalked up to Hawke trying to stay beyond suspicion.

My Hawke was an Andrastian who married Sebastian and sided with Meredith. So it was spot on for my character. I can see how it can be abit bothersome for others.

Hawke seems shocked in Legacy when learning his father was a blood mage. And why would he be proud of that, incidentally? It resulted in a bunch of crazy Carta dwarves coming after the Hawke family to use them as blood sacrifices to free Corypheus, who escaped his prison anyway.

Did everyone but me play Hawke as a Blood-Mage?
I thought the tone of my Warrior Hawke who romanced Merrill was spot on.
I played Hawke as a frustrated force mage who thought that all those crazies (including bloodmages) just constantly c*cked it up for upstanding magically gifted citizens like him.
I thought his dialogue in DA:I was pretty darn good.

I'm just mad that my Hawke wasn't nearly funny or sarcastic enough. Made me think the Keep borked and had given him the wrong personality.
I'm also mad that he was stuck with the fugly-ass Champion Mage armor. ;( I feel like I'm the only person in the world who hates it--everything about it. Eugh.

No. I have never played Hawke as a bloodmage. As one who only ever romances Fenris it didn't seem to fit well. And slitting wrists never seemed like it was much fun, I mean doesn't that hurt?

And no, you're not alone. I hate that armor so much. Usually I have my Hawke's wear the Free Adept Robes or the Heavy Velvet Robes, even if they are crap statistically. And Hawke default wearing the Champion Armor is annoying.

I mostly like my rogue Hawke, but I think this stinks too.
Especially considering how much they marketed the blood mage.... and literally smeared Hawke with blood. lol. Or was that Nutella? I can't tell.
I thought that default Hawke had a badass image though... it's weird that they'd frown on it, when it was their idea to begin with.

I wasn't bothered by it (Hawke was a more defined character anyway). Besides, a negative view of blood magic is the only viewpoint that should exist.
And don't you dare go talkin' smalk bout my Robes of the Champion.

Oh, there's no wrist-slitting, but there is seppuku! With staves! Just like what Grace does in Act 3! How our spines aren't severed and we aren't left paralyzed below the waist from doing that is beyond me.
It's the huge steroid arm that's the worst part (if playing male Hawke, at least). I mean, everything is bad, but the 'roid arm is the worst. It's larger than his other arm! It's just so odd that the warrior and rogue sets look sleek, sharp, and fantastic, but the mage set looks completely frumpy and ugly. I'd assumed since I've never found a mod altering the mesh that everyone else liked it. So glad I'm not alone. Luckily, I now have the game on PC, so I can just use the console and mods to obtain and equip the other Champion armor. The only downside is the stat bonuses reflect their respective classes.

Malcolm did it under the threat of getting pregnant Leandra killed and was ashamed of it. Blood magic has brought nothing but problems and grief to Hawkes family.

There is a mod to give the mage's Champion armor a sleeve - http://www.nexusmods...nage2/mods/3962

More or less same here. Force mage who did his best to try and provide a counterbalance to the crazy blood mages running around Kirkwall, occasionally feeling like the only one even bothering (though he understood where it came from, but that's neither here nor there).
But yeah, for me, Hawke sounded about right. But I recognize that there isn't a lot of option of variation there, and what little there is still is out of the player's hands.
TBH, I kinda feel like Hawke shouldn't have appeared anyway. It feels like they're there pretty much solely for the opportunity to sacrifice themselves against the Nightmare, to give in to a death wish that they've been given because The Writers Say So.

I made Hawke a blood mage to ****** off the scrub know as Fenris. Killing a scrub named Fenris with blood magic made it even better.

I was more disappointed by how Hawke had the same personality every time, regardless of which was their 'dominant personality' in DA2.
Sarcastic Hawke was too dour. The "Maker's bosom" comment is the only time they ever crack a joke. Their idea of arguing with the Warden is by trying to verbally bulldoze them, and the rest of the time they're just sulking or lamenting the woes of the world.
Aggressive Hawke was too soft. Constantly moping about woes instead of getting angry or passionate about it. Saying "take care of Varric for me" instead of "if Varric dies, I will beat you into a fine paste." Being sweet with Varric outside the war room, instead of motivating him in their more aggressive and tactless style ("suck it up and fight!")
Diplomatic Hawke was too aggressive. Getting up in people's faces with arguments and hostility instead of being more measured and reasoning with people.
I get that Hawke is supposed to be all world-weary from their experiences, but why would that only show in one way? It should show in different ways depending on their dominant personality trait. Diplomatic Hawke could be more subdued and negative. Aggressive Hawke more abrasive and impatient. Snarky Hawke more flippant and sarcastic.

Welp... my Hawke was a sarcastic blood mage who supported templars, bashed Fenris, Merill, and Anders equally. Imagine the sound of my jaw dropping when I heard what motivated him. The VA added to the shock.
I was pretty annoyed when I saw male Revan in swtor, spouting nonsense, but that was nothing compared to... this.
