My Hawke is blood mage, his father was as well and Merrill his friend is blood mage too. So it made no sense for him to start talking so negatively about blood magic in DAI. It's like the devs forgot that your Hawke could be blood mage or pro-blood magic in DA2.

No. I have never played Hawke as a bloodmage. As one who only ever romances Fenris it didn't seem to fit well. And slitting wrists never seemed like it was much fun, I mean doesn't that hurt?

I know. Hawke wasn't funny enough.

And no, you're not alone. I hate that armor so much. Usually I have my Hawke's wear the Free Adept Robes or the Heavy Velvet Robes, even if they are crap statistically. And Hawke default wearing the Champion Armor is annoying.

You... Dislike... The mage champion armor? That's... How is that possible? How? I guess I do dislike the male one because of the roid arm in DA2, but it's a lot more subdued in DAI. It is still the coolest armor in the entire series on FemHawke, and that's practically indisputable to me. Now, you ask me, it's the rogue champion armor that looks like trash. Too much red, too badly designed (I hate the weird leather thing on the waist and pretty much everything about the legs), and it's even changed to an even uglier red in DAI. Warrior set isn't bloody amazing, but I certainly like it.

My character was a duel-wielding rogue who romanced Anders and sided with the mages in the end, kept Anders alive and disliked blood magic as well. I wasn't alienated that much besides the lack of sarcasm in his dialogues for DAI.

Hawke seems shocked in Legacy when learning his father was a blood mage. And why would he be proud of that, incidentally? It resulted in a bunch of crazy Carta dwarves coming after the Hawke family to use them as blood sacrifices to free Corypheus, who escaped his prison anyway.

So? That wasn't Malcome's fault. It was Larius' fault. Regardless of why Malcome was a blood mage, my point is that Hawke should have just a small amount of respect for it since this is Hawke's father we're talking about, and the magic did help keep evil sealed away a while longer.

Malcolm did it under the threat of getting pregnant Leandra killed and was ashamed of it. Blood magic has brought nothing but problems and grief to Hawkes family.

Regardless, Malcome used bloodmagic to do good work. So Hawke should have just a small amount of respect for that one example.

Maybe Hawke had a change of heart about blood magic. After all, only a few people ever seem to use it, and not appear nuts, and his mom became the victim of one, potentially a sibling attacked by Grace, the events/revelations of Legacy, and Orsino's actions took the cake.

I think Merrill was the only character not to fly into a rage of insanity for using it. I can see how he or she doesn't have faith in its users.

Thankfully, mine worked out just fine, my Hawke rivalmanced Merrill and told her not to do blood magic, especially after Leandra's death

A serial killer who happened to have blood magic in his arsenal of macabre magic. Orsino admits he allowed this mage to dabble in forbidden magic, and then uses the magic himself when he's cornered.

Agreed. Malcolm used blood magic to help his family and because Larius used Leandra as blackmail.

To be clear, the Blood Magic in the Warden Prison was what kept Corypheus locked up for hundreds of years. What failed, was the stupid Wardens who did not continue to guard the prison well (isn't vigilance one of their throw around words?), and that the Wardens did not keep a system in place to bring non-Warden mages to the prison to re-seal it every couple decades, and they let crazy people like Janeka try something they had RECORDS saying did not work... If applied correctly, continuing the Blood Magic seals could have prevented all the events from DA:I happening as they did, as I doubt a certain lupine deity would have woken Cory up to give them the orb had Cory still been sleeping.

While I think it was a writing error to give our Hawkes the option to be pro-Blood Magic and then have them become uncomfortable with it in DA:I, DA2 was definitely a morality play against two things: power hungry Templars and sociopathic Blood Mages, so unfortunately, that was always going to be Hawke's attitude going forward. Now hopefully we can get back to more nuanced depictions of morality than DA2 going forward.

Hawke was never really our character to begin with. I figured bloodmagic would be something Hawke would hate, so I always assumed this would be the case moving forward. Aside from Leandra, Hawke can also be affected directly by Idunna. I'd think that would sour most people to bloodmagic.
