Hi, I want to gather your SOULS oppinions about the 4x RTS Aspect of Mass Effect Andromeda.

For starters RTS means a Real Time strategy game where you command units and basically micro manage your way in order to achieve a desired result.

Famous RTS Games includes Starcraft, Civilization series, Rise of Nations, Battlerealms and many more. Here is a sample of my RTS Video game:

Now, another genre of 4X RTS is Sword of the stars and sins of a solar empire. It is basically 4times the size of regular RTS games, you EXPLORE, EXPAND AND EXTERMINATE.

We all know that previous leaks in the past indicates that ME:A MAY have some form or elements of these genre. Basically we explore, expand and extreminate in a third person POV while micro managing politics and or resources.

Are you interested with these features?

As long as they are restricted to the standalone MP game, I am fine with it. ;)

As the features aren't half baked sure. Always said DA:I would have been better as a grand strategy game.

I would be in favor of some RTS mechanics done well.

Managing my forces? Upgrading my colonies and outposts? Yes please. But I would like it to be an integrated part of the game not something that is just tacked on to fill a check list.

The base management elements from XCOM:EU or Xenonauts are some of my favorite parts of those games outside of combat, and I would love to see something similar in ME:A.

Again though done well.

I do enjoy the odd 4x. And RTS is one of my favourite genres. While I don't believe they'll go full RTS on us, I wouldn't mind if they incorporated a few RTS staples into their game. So consider this one of your less crappier threads, OP.

No thank you.  I think games benefit from having a clear focus.

I'd gladly have a Mass Effect strategy game of whatever type, but I don't want it crowbarred into an RPG.

I'd rather they make a separate game all together, like how Halo Wars was.  But for sure, sounds interesting.

By what definition is Civilization real-time?

I would like to see wars similar to Suikoden with special forces like biotic or Krogan that have special abilities to tun the tide of the battle.

Excellent games for micromanaging are the Heart of Iron games 1-3 and Hearts of Iron IV is coming out any day now.

Mass Effect games are basically shooters with RPG story elements and I like it to remain that way. Bio should stay focused on what they know best. Besides, Bio's programming talent can't code a decent AI even if they have sample code to work with and you are asking for a RTS game?  Can you imagine the enemy forces going nowhere real fast because pathing is an issue (looking at you DAI)?.

If the "leaked poll" is any indication, Bio 's  programmers will have a hard time as it is delivering

1. Most of the items in the poll list

2. Making side quests interesting

3. Avoiding useless exploration activities

4. Creating an engaging game without asking them to go outside their comfort zone.

Making us forget all about the bad taste of the ME3 ending with MEA will be a Bio success story.

I suppose 1 hour playing the game = 1 hour in reality.

I wouldn't mind some mild RTS elements in the game. Maybe if they can combine it with the TPS mechanics. Years ago I had a game on the N64 called Battlezone: Rise of the Black Dogs. There were conventional RTS elements: Base building, resource collection, buying units, etc. The trick was that you did it all from the cockpit of your own hovertank, and you fought alongside your troops in battle.

That would be awesome, not likely though.

I'd really like to see a ME-themed RTS game.  Ditto for a DA one.  Hopefully we'd get the option to play as different factions/races so we could choose our favorite one(s) and have them dominate (The quarians shall conquer the Milky Way and the Dalish will crush all who oppose them to claim Thedas for their own).  There are a few mods out there that add the ME races as factions in games like Civ and Sins of a Solar Empire, so it can work in that format.

I'd prefer it to be a standalone thing and not tie in with stuff that happens in the games.  Preferably non-canon so that there'd be a lot more flexibility.

As long as it's not invasive for the 3rd Person shooting RPG. I also don't want to be the baby sitter, either. If it was a mode to gain money that I don't have to tend to, then alright, that'd be cool. But I don't want to feel like Space Nanny.

It's an intriguing concept competing against an AI antagonist in the SP game between missions over limited resources in a 4x arena setting. 4x turn based like in VGA Planets may work better than RTS. Between missions the player and AI could make and submit their turns with the results returned after completing a mission. This could be set to auto-resolve if the player doesn't wish to play this mode.
