There are several kits I've yet to play with, or spec, in some cases, b/c of various reasons, i.e., just unlocked, have no idea how to spec, heard terrible things about so stayed away from, etc. I figured I'd list them, include my assumption about how to spec, then let you all offer feedback on whichever kits you like. If anything in Kalence is left blank, it's b/c I didn't know what would be best so feel free to fill in as you feel appropriate.

Talon. Just skip Concussive Arrows, right?

Justicar. Edit: Don't skip pull. Hilarious ragdolls to be had. Got it.

Collector. Skipped Fitness.

Slayer. No idea.

Ex-Cerb. No idea.

Preesh!

Have fun killing things before they even spawn.

As for the others, I'm not an expert on most, but if you skip pull on the Justicar then you probably don't spec it on any other kit. She's the only one where it does make somewhat sense to use it... More or less. Skipping it is still perfectly fine from a min/max perspective, I guess.

Edit: oh, you can swap the cyclonic for a power amp on the Slayer when you feel comfortable enough. He's still plenty survivable, and packs even a nastier punch.

Juticar: If I PUG gold, I usually put 3 points in Pull, just to stagger mooks. Doesn't get much use out of it in Platinum obviously. (Almost all weapons work great)

Collector: Same build, but I go with 5a on the passives for the more DS damage.

Slayer: Same build, but I go with 5a on the passives. (I like the Graal on host).

Don't really care for the Talon and the GoonGuard.

Thanks man, been looking for a good build for him.

And yeah, I have always seen people skip Pull so I just assumed the trend continues..though given she has 2 primers perhaps it would make sense to spec Pull on her. Out-thought myself there

Justicar -  skipping pull is silly on her IMO. She's the only character I spec into it with.

I approve of your other builds.

I am not a fan of talon or slayer. So, I am not going to comment on those. The other three listed are some of my favorite characters in the game (top 10 stuff).

None of my builds are min-max but they do the job just fine.

JusticarI don't do the reave > shoot cycle. Acolyte > pull > reave/sphere for all the mooks. Pull + reave for enemies at range, pull + sphere for close by enemies.

Why even use pull + sphere? Because it produces some of the best ragdoll moments in the game. It's extremely hilarious.

For bosses, basically alternate reave and sphere, and make use of the sphere's warp effect to chain BEs.

Collector: Once again, I don't play the prime + shoot w/warp ammo way. Too boring for my liking. This guy is a powerhouse but it might take a while to get a hang of his cooldowns. The way I play is: launch DS, cast DC on one enemy and then spam swarms to get as many BEs as possible. Shoot a bit and finally demolish the stragglers with sphere detonation. For bosses, I make very little use of swarms as I want them primed for longer durations (for warp ammo). But I do occasionally use it for some CC.

A trick: Off-host, you can cancel the CD of SS with DC. Summon the swarms, and as soon as you see them appear around you, cast DC. You'll only have to deal with DC's cooldown and not the long SS cooldown.

Another note about SS and DS (very useful on-host when the above trick fails): When you run out of swarms, don't immediately summon them. Launch a sphere towards enemy(ies) and then summon swarms. As the swarms appear around you, detonate the sphere. This way, instead of incurring two separate long cooldowns, you'll virtually be dealing with just one. ;)

Phoenix Vanguard: Firstly,

Hands down, the best vanguard to use the bonus power evo. He is also the ONLY vanguard that can self-detonate 6+6 BE on all defenses.

BC boosted smash is very powerful. Stack as much power boosting mods/gear and his smash hits like a truck. IIRC, it is one of the highest spike damaging powers in the game.

I use warp ammo because I want to pull off as many BEs with him and a tech ammo will ruin it. So, fk that. But if you want to quickly detonate tech combos, disruptor or incendiary is good.

Cancelling smash with dodge roll/melee is very vital.

AJA

Do not skip pull. It's quick disposal of annoying things like phantoms, etc. Ideally pull will hit around the same time or just after the Acolyte round on your timing. Acolyte strips and stuns which prevents dodging, pull/reave obliterates whatever is left. Geth Scanner allows you to use your bubble better by allowing you to preemptively set it up. Power mod because you're going to be reave spamming a lot. Most chill killing kit in the game in my opinion. Just pure relaxation running around and spamming smurfplosions.

Edit:Slasher is correct on pull/sphere. You'll have **** go into orbit or sometimes bounce off a couple of walls. Violent hilarious ragdoll effect because of the force of bubble deployment being so high with them ragdolled already.

Talon

I prefer the "Robin Hood" build because i hate the cain mines.

AP Arrows do good damage vs armor and Concussive Arrows sends mooks and phantoms flying ;)

Wouldn't skip pull completely on AJA...even at 3 pts, the pull/reave combo is great for dispatching mooks..

My Justicar cycles through different weapons (lore-friendly Acolyte/Disciple combo is another fave), so that's completely up to the user.

Notes:

  • My Bubble is 100 % weaponized
  • My Reave is self-preserving
  • My Pull goes to rank 4b radius (preferred over just 3 ranks in Pull).  There are more clustered mooks than you think.  Same with my DrellDept
  • Geth scanner is a must for me to achieve usable Bubble timeliness
  • Fitness to rank 5 for yummy shield recharge coupled with Reave makes her quite tanky
  • Warp ammo is nearly mandatory IMO

That's my Collector build. You might want to run a cyclonic instead of power mod if you struggle with survivability. Dark Sphere is so powerful for taking out mobs of mooks. Dark Channel eats Banshees, Praetorians, etc. And the Drill rounds synergize with Dark Sphere and do a ton of damage to bosses, I find them superior to warp rounds in my play with the character.

That is damn near the same build I use on my Just a car.
