I looked at what happened last week with Lukes Feedback topic - regarding skill tree design and ability/passive placement - and I'd say a fair amount of what made up that topic was what players would like to buff, nerf, or change; which was off-topic. I'm surprised by this point that we don't have a dedicated player buff's and nerf's topic (given how many ideas people have), but I think it's warranted on some level. It would give players an easy place for players to voice their ideas, while also giving the devs an easy spot to see what players general think about a particular characters skillset. Hopefully, the sheer appeal of wanting to make a character better or more balanced will keep this topic going for the long run.

Off the top of my head, Spirit Blade needs some tweaking. As it currently stands, it's crap due to low damage output. It was fine at 300% weapon damage and 10 mana cost. Though, I imagine Luke would want to do something else to it, rather than revert it to what I consider to be Spirit Blade's normal state.

Here's what I have:

 

Keeper

IMO, the Keeper's usefulness has diminished quite a bit since the Barrier nerf (which was understandable). However, given that she's supposed to be the dedicated support character out the mages, she needs something to set herself apart from the rest. This is especially so when you consider that the Elementalist can cast Barrier (w/ Strength of Spirits & Flashpoint cooldown bonus), and the Virtuoso can give instantaneous barrier within 8 meters. To make her more distinct and fill her role as the character that keeps everyone alive, she needs more for her Barrier ability.

 

- Keeper Barrier returned to Barrier pre-nerf status

- Barrier upgrade allows for either 1) casting on all allies no matter their location, 2) Offers a brief moment of health regen, or 3) Grant a brief period of damage resistance once Barrier has worn off.

 

Assassin

As many have mentioned, the DW rogues have a difficult time gaining EXP. For this character in particular, she needs to stay cloaked as long as possible. If moving the Assassins I Was Never Here passive is not possible in the short term, then it would be worth altering their ability to enter Stealth.

 

- Stealth Upgrade:

• Option 1: Character enters Stealth after killing an enemy for a brief period of time
• Option 2: Stealth's upgrade allows for one ability to be used without breaking Stealth

- Innate ability (ie. like Katari's Guard on Hit): Character gains a critical damage stacking bonus for each successful kill while in Stealth (up to 100% critical damage bonus).

 

Archer

The character is good overall, but I find two of his trap abilities could use some changing.

 

- Caltrops base Speed Reduction increased to 50%. (I'd apply this to all Caltrops btw)

- Caltrops upgrade removes the Speed Reduction bonus in favor of either 1) Bleed Damage, 2) Targets takes more damage, or 3) Targets armor is Sundered

- Spike Trap gains an upgrade slot that has a chance to stun enemies harmed by it for 2 seconds.

 

Alchemist

Boy does this character need some work. Feedback was already given about ability/passive placement, but there are still some things that are needed to improve her aptitude in higher difficulties.

 

- Innate Ability:

• Option 1: Killing an enemy with a trap or poison skill increases your next abilities/offensive potions AoE by 50%
• Option 2: Alchemist carries an additional 1-2 potions in each slot
• Option 3: Alchemist has a chance to gain a free flask after using a flask beforehand

- Toxic Cloud base damage increased to 80% (from 50%)

- Killer Alchemy Damage bonus increased to 20% (from 15%)

 

Necromancer

Given her nature as a DoT character who relies on high damage bonuses, she needs to be able to kill on a constant basis. This applies even more so for higher difficulties. There's also the issue of her Simulacrum ability.

 

- Innate Ability: Character gains +7 Magic for every enemy killed within 10 seconds (up to +35 Magic)

- Flashfire's upgrade causes nearby panic when an enemy dies due to Flashfire

- Simulacrum needs to be altered:

• Option 1: Being in Simulacrum triggers inherent heal on kill effect (10%). Regaining 40-50% of your health back brings this character back to life
• Option 2: Killing a certain amount of enemies while in this form will bring this character back to life

- Blizzard costs 3 mana per second

- Buff Tricks of the Trade passives Damage and Duration bonus to 15% (from 10%)

 

Templar

She's definitely become quite the tank with the new Guard passives and Armor buffs. While that extra defense is great, some of her offensive capabilities could be tweaked some so that players really feel that the character fits the role of a mage/demon killer.

 

- Innate Ability: This character does 15% more damage to Mages, Demons, and Undead

- All Anti-Mage/Demon abilities also work on Undead creatures

- Rename and change Guard Smasher to Barrier Smasher (100% Damage vs Barriers)

- Line in the Sand needs a champion directly where the player casts Line in the Sand. Champions should also deal damage similar to Counterstrike (or at least knockback damage)

 

Hunter

An awesome class idea in theory, but the execution is mixed. His abilities are quite fun on their own, and should be made more available at lower levels. There's also some other aspects that need buffing.

 

- Fix Knife in the Shadows glitch so that it works on Spike Traps upgraded form

- Spike Trap is now a detonator for this character

- Grappling Hooks upgrade needs a more unique aspect:

• Option 1: Drop a mini Spike Trap that does 40%  of Spike Traps damage
• Option 2: Knockdown enemies when you reach them

 

Arcane Warrior

The most controversial of the characters, I've got my own changes for this character (no, Spirit Blade isn't touched).

 

- Replace Force of Will with either 1) Reinforced Barrier or 2) Knight-Protector

- Spell Sword increases magic damage instead of armor

- Replace Psychic Backlash with There is No Darkness

- Replace Flashfire with Disruption Field

- Replace Peaceful Aura with Biggest Threat

 

Avvar

Just a few things here to help his defense out just a tad bit.

 

- Innate Ability: Character has increased damage resistance against elemental damage (20%)

- Replace It'll Cost You with an Armor Bonus passive

- Rage of the Avvar grants I-frames when the player uses the ability and is unable to move
